Whether it was singing karaoke, listening to audiobooks, or devising a radio station in his bedroom, Mark has always appreciated the power of the human voice. His love for radio started at a local level, in the glory-days of personality-based breakfast radio. That love affair was sparked at his city’s famous BRMB, but a succession of cost-cutting measures, takeovers, and technological advances would slowly snuff out that candle. Episode one Mark studied Media & Communication at Birmingham City University, specialising in Internet radio. He graduated the year the term “podcasting” was coined, but it would be a further four years before he’d pluck up the courage to pick up a mic and plug it into the Internet. But in 2008, the podcast bug finally bit, and Mark started what would be a 14+ year career helping people make podcasts, first in exchange for beer, and then for money. The little company with the robot fist for a logo In 2016 Mark founded the media hosting company Podiant, which took him to the British Podcast Awards, and saw him present at International Podcast Day in 2020. The product served millions of listeners across thousands of podcasts, and in 2021 Mark sold Podiant so he could focus on working more closely with individuals and small teams, to set them up for podcasting success from day one. From the ear to the brain to the heart Mark founded Origin in 2021 to help impact entrepreneurs build trust with their audiences, and catalyse change. He does this through a combination of consulting, training, coaching, and production. It centres around driving messages from the ear to the brain, where – through consistency and authenticity – they eventually land in listeners’ hearts.

I pride myself on professionalism and diligence in all that I do. In the last 7 years, altering my mindset has totally changed all aspects of my life for the better. With a background in the corporate tech sector, I had always worked in a very male dominated environment. I was really ambitious, and keen to get ahead at work, but often felt I struggled to be taken seriously. I battled with feeling frustrated - because I knew I had so much to add, but daren't speak up. I feared everyone's eyes turning to me, and the pressure would feel unbearable. This knocked my confidence and I realised I needed to do something about it, to take control back of my own destiny. At this point I discovered lots of different podcasts that really helped to shift my perspectives, and through this found the coach I worked with for the first time which was a total game changer for me. I gradually grew in confidence and began to recognise the value I brought to the table. This helped me to articulate myself a lot better, and I worked on improving my communication skills which enabled me to finally progress in the organisation I worked for at the time. I reached a certain point in my career where I realised I owed so much to my personal transformation. I discovered that my passion was now reaching other women and supporting them to unlock their inevitable potential! Life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. There have been so many steps that I nearly didn't take through fear, self-doubt and feelings of unworthiness. High Grange School’s multi-disciplinary approach incorporates best practices and autism-friendly strategies and supports in order to meet the educational needs of students who have ASD. Our students learn how to develop and use effective compensatory strategies to overcome difficulties in social and emotional processing, communication and flexibility in thinking and behaviour, all of which can combine to have a negative impact on their learning. The design of the school; its environment and facilities; and the structure and delivery of our educational programmes are created to reduce the stress and anxieties often associated with an autism spectrum condition. Our enabling teaching approach provides multiple physical and practical opportunities as well as visual supports for learning. This helps students to achieve their full potential by understanding and dealing with personal challenges while making the most of their abilities and strengths. Managing expectations realistically is a core part of our educational programme. Individualised Learning Plans are created for all students with input from the school’s specialist therapists. These plans include strategies to enable students to manage their anxieties; to regulate their emotional responses; and to reduce or eliminate negative and inappropriate behaviours which are preventing effective learning and positive social interactions. During the school day students have access to a varied and stimulating curriculum. The Classes are grouped by Key Stage and students are taught in small groups of up to 6. Teachers use detailed planning to ensure each individual is enabled to achieve in all areas. Classrooms are well-equipped and include specialist facilities for Music, Art & Design, D&T, Science, Computer Science and ICT, Food Technology and Performing Arts.
