Welcome to The Christie School of Oncology’s Integrative Therapies Training Unit (ITTU). As a world renowned ITTU, we are delighted to offer a range of educational events including standalone workshops, diplomas and conferences for integrative therapists, complementary therapists, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and researchers. The content of some of our events are also suited to nurses and medical staff. At the ITTU, we have been proudly supporting all our students for more than 20 years, providing them with training that is well researched, informative and evidence-based and reflective of up-to-date clinical practice. All our educational events are designed to provide students with continuing professional development (CPD) certifications and to equip them with practical knowledge and skills that they can integrate into the healthcare they provide to their own patients, as well as carers. Our team of both internal and external fully-qualified facilitators are all passionate about producing and delivering an extensive programme of events, which we are sure you will find informative and inspiring. You can view our current range of educational events, including courses, diplomas and conferences on our current courses page or by downloading our our Integrative Therapies Training Unit brochure. If you would like to receive the latest updates about our study days, diplomas and conferences direct to your inbox, please sign up to our School of Oncology mailing list and specify ‘integrative therapies’ as your area of interest. Whatever study or career path you want to follow, we have the right choices for you. We are proud to have nearly 2,000 pupils, making us one of the North West's largest sixth forms. One advantage of our size is that we can offer our students a variety of opportunities that they won't find anywhere else. We want you to enjoy a joyful and well-rounded experience of sixth form education, in addition to working hard in the courses you choose. Many clubs, societies, trips and social events are on offer throughout the academic year. We are proud to have retained an ethos that treats students as individuals, allowing and encouraging them to grow and succeed. I hope you will come and see us at one of our Open Events, where you can talk to staff and students about your own individual needs and aspirations. We hope that you are excited by what you learn about us on this website and we look forward to meeting you.

The Power of Mediation in Business and Relationships by Bernadette Willems “I’ve had enough….” “How do I leave my husband….” “They are just not listening….” “How can we stop this from getting ugly….” “It’ll be lonely this Christmas….” “We’ve tried everything, and nothing is working….” “I’ve had enough of life….”  These are just some comments I hear daily in my role as The Business Peacemaker and The Post-Divorce Specialist at Greater Manchester Mediation Limited.  With more than 25 years of experience as a Family Solicitor, Mediator, Trainer and Coach in the field of conflict resolution, I help people lead a better life and a brighter future free from debilitating disputes – thereby helping to create a better world for all of us. The key to this is ‘Mediation’. But what is it, and how does it work? As founder of Greater Manchester Mediation Limited, and as ‘The Business Peacemaker’ and ‘The Post-Divorce Specialist’, I show my clients primarily how to communicate with each other. This is vital, as it ensures that vulnerable or emotionally fragile clients feel heard and empowered, and it rebuilds bridges between estranged parties.  I am also there to support my clients in navigating the legal process, helping them understand the requirements of law and to find the best route to resolve their disputes. In addition, I ensure that they are not overwhelmed by all the information available and help them determine their best course of action.  Many disputes or problems between individuals, in personal or work relationships or within teams, are compounded or aggravated because clients do not understand each other’s way of thinking, together with the legal (and other) options available to them.  Crucially, with the benefit of this legal knowledge, together with the life and personal development tools and resources I share with my clients, they can identify ways of building or maintaining trust, despite the past. Mediated solutions work better, last longer and cost far less than solutions imposed by a tribunal or a court, and everyone involved buys into them. Moreover, they are less adversarial, and Mediation fosters mutual respect through improved communication. Mediation can mend and preserve frayed relationships, even when the parties are extremely angry.

Orange Psychology

BETTERING LIVES BY LEARNING TOGETHER…’ Orange Psychology makes a difference to the lives of children and young people by using a collaborative and relationship-focused approach. We learn through listening and we develop ideas together, because we believe that the ‘whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts’. Our psychologists (including clinical, educational, counselling and forensic), ensure that the whole picture of the child or young person is created, working together with others to co-construct our understanding. We work systemically, using psychological formulation to put together the many ‘segments’ which make up the whole child. The whole ethos of Orange Psychology is underpinned by our ‘core values’ or ‘our segments’ which are; O – Outcome Orientated R – Reflective and Relationship-focused A – Approachable and Accessible N – Needs-led service G – Genuine E – Empathetic and Embracing The Orange Psychology Service Delivery Model is built around collaborative practice and operationalises the values (above) in the following ways; As a collective team, we work in an outcomes focused way from the start of our involvement. We share our learning together to improve our own professional practice. Our communication is reflective, open, creative and collaborative with teachers, children, young people, teachers and other professionals Our flexibility and openness to new ideas means we can learn together to further improve the service we provide. We spend time planning and listening to you so that we can put into practice creative and flexible psychology services. Orange Psychology will respond and adapt to what those needs are, by listening and learning together. The authentic partnerships we create really can ‘better lives by learning together’. We embrace ideas with openness and compassion, meaning that our practitioners can bring together the many ‘segments’ that can make for a better ‘whole’. THE WAY WE WORK We have a growing number of school contracts across the North, including Greater Manchester areas, Lancashire, and Yorkshire. Our psychologists work hard to offer a good quality bespoke service to ensure maximum effectiveness. We are highly organised and driven by the need to help schools, families and young people; We operate 2 or 3 term contracts with our school clients, to offer maximum flexibility across the school year We can provide Records of Involvement and/or high quality reports to support multi agency working or formal statutory processes We always work with parents and schools to gather the ‘whole’ picture of the child.
