The partnership provides expertise in delivering the best sexual health and substance misuse service for young people. Who are we? Prof Venu Kavarthapu is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interest in lower limb orthopaedics. He was appointed as a Consultant at King’s in 2006. He qualified at the AP University of Health Sciences in India, before completing his basic surgical and specialist registrar rotation training in the South East Thames Region. His sub-speciality training included a Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery Fellowship in Los Angeles and a Foot and Ankle Fellowship in London. Prof Kavarthapu was the orthopaedic member of the King's Diabetic Foot Team, which in 2007 won a prestigious Hospital Doctor Award. Prof Kavarthapu lectures at national and international conferences on diabetic foot surgery, trauma, hip arthroscopy, and primary and revision hip arthroplasty. He is also actively involved in research and has published several scientific articles on Trauma and Orthopaedics. Prof Kavarthapu’s other roles include Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, lead clinician for the Orthopaedic department, and Orthopaedic Training Programme Director for SE London. He has been appointed Associate Professor at Odense University Hospital and University of Southern Denmark. He is also chairs the British Indian Clinical and Academic Partnership.

For 27 years, I worked in the NHS as a qualiﬁed nurse, experiencing both clinical and managerial environments. Then, in my late forties, I hit the menopause – or rather the menopause hit me. I experienced debilitating symptoms which had a negative impact on my overall sense of wellbeing. My journey to a healthier and happier life started here. I was at a point in my life where I really didn’t know what I wanted to do. I felt stuck in a rut and completely lost. I retired from nursing and completed an MSc in Business Management, but soon realised this new avenue did not fullﬁll my long-held desire to help and support people. I volunteered at a charity called Happy City, where I attended a training course called ‘Wellbeing Champions Training’. This training had a massive impact on me and was the turning point I’d been looking for. This led me to train as a Wellbeing Life Coach and after setting up a successful coaching business, I now focus on blogging and podcasting to educate and inform.
