Bluecoat has a long and rich history spanning back over 300 years. The school was founded in 1706 as the first charity school in Nottingham. Under the guidance of the then rector of St. Peter’s church, Timothy Fenton. Classes were taught in the porch of St. Mary’s Church in the Lace Market area of Nottingham In 1706. The school was founded “to train poor children in the knowledge of God and religion, as taught in the Church of England.” Starting from a modest number of children it is now a community of over 2,300 learners, primarily based on two sites in Aspley and Aspley. A new building, costing £5.7m, will also open in January on a third site to become the permanent home of our primary school which currently has children from Reception through to Year 3 and is growing year-on-year. In 2014 a new part of the Bluecoat story took place with Bluecoat Beechdale becoming the newest member of the Bluecoat family and part of our Academy Trust.

We provide coaching for all ages from 4 onwards with competitive league football.KICK IT OUT CALLS FOR THE FOOTBALL COMMUNITY TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST DISCRIMINATION Kick It Out – Take A Stand press release FINAL – EMBARGOED UNTIL 00.01 ON SUNDAY 11th OCTOBER 2020 – Kick It Out has today launched a new campaign, called Take A Stand, which is encouraging people across the football community to take action in the battle against discrimination. Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, has teamed up with a range of partners to launch the initiative, including Facebook and the FA. Most football fans will have witnessed some form of discrimination in football – on the terraces, in dressing rooms or on social media – but more needs to be done to move from awareness to action. Through Take A Stand, Kick It Out want to create a culture where individuals take personal responsibility for being part of the change. That includes fans, players, managers, CEOs, stewards, governing bodies, shop assistants and social media organisations – everyone on and off the pitch. Take A Stand is both a challenge and an invitation for individuals and organisations to publicly commit to their own pledge. It is also a movement that everyone can play a part in. Facebook is supporting Take A Stand by launching initiatives focussed on action, and centred on reporting and education. It is building a new automated Messenger service, for when fans are back in stadiums, enabling people to report matchday discrimination directly to Kick It Out. Facebook is also launching a new education programme targeted directly at fans of all ages. It is piloting this new training module with anti-hate charity, HOPE not Hate, delivered through clubs’ community and fan engagement programmes. The pilot will be launched in close collaboration with the England national teams, Derby County F.C. and Portsmouth F.C., before being rolled-out further in 2021.

Please, have a look at our range of on-line offers to see what is currently available. The teachings of the Study Society originated with the Russian philosopher and spiritual teacher P.D. Ouspensky who bought Colet House, just before the Second World War. Ouspensky’s successor Dr. Francis Roles registered The Study Society as a member based organisation in 1951. Afterwards, Dr. Roles introduced non-dual philosophy and mantra meditation to Society members through a direct connection with His Holiness Shantanand Saraswati (1913-1997), a leader of the ancient Advaita (which means ‘not two’) Vedanta tradition in India. In 1963, Dr. Roles introduced to Study Society’s members another expression of non-dual philosophy through a unique relationship with Mr. Resuhi, a senior Sheikh of the Mevlevi Dervish order in Turkey. Mevlevi Turning (whirling dervishes) was inspired over 700 years ago by the poet Jalaluddin Rumi. The Turning has been taught and practiced at Colet House for over 50 years. Today we blend sacred traditions with modern teachings and expressions of non-duality which can be sourced across multiple cultures. As Rupert Spira, a Direct Path teacher, long-term member and friend of The Study Society says: “non-duality requires no affiliation to any particular religious or spiritual tradition. All that is required is an interest in the essential nature of experience, and in the longing for love, peace and happiness around which most of our lives revolve.”

The National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) was founded in Nottingham in 1991 with the establishment of the first Child Contact Centre. It is a registered charity, and an umbrella organisation which sets the National Standards to which Child Contact Centres must work. Child Contact Centres are neutral places where children of separated families can enjoy contact with non-resident parents and sometimes other family members, in a comfortable and safe environment. Every year, this national organisation via its member centres, support families and children in their local community. There are accredited member centres throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. They are operated by a variety of independent organisations that form the membership of NACCC. NACCC is unique in the service it provides for local Contact Centres. Many of our members, provide ‘Supported Contact’ They are predominantly open on alternate Saturdays. These centres are only suitable for families that are deemed to present minimal risk of violence or abuse. In some cases, a higher level of supervision is needed because a child or parent is at risk of harm. These are ‘Supervised Contact Centres‘ and are used in these situations, but also can be used to reintroduce a child to a parent where there has been a substantial gap in contact. NACCC has an accreditation process which ensures members meet national standards. An assessor visits every three years to ensure that the centres comply with DBS checks, health and safety legislation, that HR practices are carried out appropriate, their financial situation, their operating procedures are in accordance with the standards, and safeguarding procedures are in place. The assessor then submits a report to NACCC. If the centre does not comply with all areas, an action plan is issued which is time limited. NACCC also delivers high quality training and support to ensure members are well equipped and knowledgeable. In addition, there is a helpline which centres, and parents can ring for advice and guidance, and a safeguarding helpline in the event of an issue arising at the centre.

It was when I was attending a my daughters graduation the advice the lecture gave to the young people now going out into the work place was this “If you can do what you enjoy doing as if when you go on vacation and make this your vocation you will never work another day in your life”This thought really hit home to me. Living and working in North London for 30 years I wondered what did really want to do. Where would I like to be? What did I enjoy doing Etc.? This was the easy part, I enjoyed my Motorcycle riding, and my charity work with Advanced Motorcyclist Group where I had become an observer with them. I enjoyed teaching others become safer better riders and seeing them enjoy their new riding skills. So career change to do what I enjoyed was required. A Fresh Start, a new way of life. The hard part was getting the training and qualifications and passed the DVSA test. In order to run a DVSA (ATB). My own motorcycle training school when completed the dsa exams I first moved and run a Motorcycle training school in west Cumbria.2003 then with the law changes with the 2 part test it ment a relocation and we moved to manchester area and been ruinning the training school in mancheter Atherton area since 2008 But in 2008 there was changes in the motorcycle test was conducted with the now know 2 part test with new test centres (mptc) required in order to do the new off road manoeuvres, but it meant over a 50 mile trip to the my nearest test centre. Because of this I felt I had to relocate and move my established business closer to one of the new DSA test centres, this we did at the start off 2008. Now we are based in Atherton Manchester only 1/2 mile from the DVSA test center i belive that we are the closest training school to any dvsa motorcycle mod 1 test area ,

Who we are? This community-lead Charity was formed in 2020 with the objective of improving social isolation and promoting racial harmony in Medway. We are an independent initiative who provide supplementary education to support the cultural diversity within our community. Our volunteers include a variety of qualified educators and professionals providing positive representation, with a shared passion for unity and youth work.   What we do? We offer workshops, classes and events for children aged 5-16 years, which address the educational gaps in history and highlight the positive contributions that have helped shape our society. Our volunteers encourage good citizenship and community cohesion, which broadens the understanding of ourselves and the wider world. We do this by creating cultural access points and increasing active engagement in areas such as: arts & culture, literature, history, music and sports.  Fun, interactive activities are planned and delivered on a monthly basis through a combination of structured lessons, practical play, and social interaction.

Our membership, which is more than 2,500 strong, includes educational researchers, practitioners and doctoral students from the UK and around the globe.  Founded in 1974, BERA has since expanded into an internationally renowned association. We strive to be inclusive of the diversity of education research and scholarship, and welcome members from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, theoretical orientations, methodological approaches, sectoral interests and institutional affiliations. We encourage the development of productive relationships with other associations within and beyond the UK.  We run a major international conference each year alongside a diverse and engaging series of events, and publish high quality research in our peer-reviewed journals, reports, book series and the ground breaking BERA Blog.
