Welcome to the Fetal Medicine Foundation The Fetal Medicine Foundation is a Registered Charity that aims to improve the health of pregnant women and their babies through research and training in fetal medicine. The Foundation, with the support of an international group of experts, has introduced an educational programme both for healthcare professionals and parents and a series of certificates of competence in different aspects of fetal medicine. In the last 20 years, The Foundation has supported research and training in the following areas through grants to a total of more than £23 million: Early diagnosis of fetal abnormalities Screening for chromosomal defects Development of safer techniques for prenatal diagnosis Intrauterine fetal surgery Prediction and prevention of preeclampsia Prediction and prevention of preterm birth Prediction and prevention of stillbirth Prediction and management of fetal growth restriction Problems of multiple pregnancies In 2016/2017, the Fetal Medicine Foundation made a donation of £22 million to King’s College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for investment in the Trust's Fetal Medicine services. What is Yoga4Health? Yoga In Healthcare Alliance* (YIHA) is a UK-registered charity dedicated to integrating the benefits of yoga into healthcare. YIHA works with the NHS and other health professionals to support patients and help them make lifestyle changes. YIHA was commissioned by the NHS to create the 10-week Yoga4Health social prescribing programme which is delivered by Yoga4Health teachers, including me, in the UK and abroad. Paul Fox, Chief Operating Officer, YIHA says “The Yoga4Health programme is about empowering people to discover how much better they can feel by adopting a simple daily yoga practice. A large proportion of illness could be avoided or mitigated if people became more active and changed unhealthy behaviours for healthy ones. Activating patients to feel they are in control of their health and can take steps to boost their physical and mental wellbeing is key. At the same time, our programme aims to take them on a beautiful journey into their body, breath and mind to become more accepting, aware, mindful and kind to themselves. It is self-care by tapping into this powerful mind-body medicine: yoga”.

With a background in Drama, Alastair's Teaching career spans some 16 years, he has worked in many different educational settings , including Autistic Units , SLD Schools and MLD Schools , before settling into a long term stint at a PRU. Alastair worked for eight years as senior teacher in a Pupil Referral Unit for a London Borough. He dealt with pupils excluded from mainstream school, primarily because of emotional and behavioural difficulties. He was responsible for developing and running anger management and social skills groups in mainstream schools for pupils at risk of exclusion. For many years he has run courses for teachers and practitioners as well as children and adolescents. Alastair is an advanced tutor for restraint, qualified through ‘Team Teach’.
