Association for Educational Projects Limited (AEPL) aims to promote education of young women.Its educational activities focus on all aspects of human development. AEPL’s educational philosophy fosters the development of one’s character as a foundation for the acquisition of other virtues and skills. Today there are activities sponsored by AEPL in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Hobart. Projects of AEPL are open to all people, regardless of their background. AEPL was founded in 1976 by a group of Sydney residents from a wide variety of backgrounds. Their aim was to establish an association that would sponsor and promote educational projects to meet the needs of Australian society. AEPL is not-for- profit company and a registered charity. Dance Reading (formerly Junction Dance) is an arts charity committed to opening up access to dance for all, strengthening and improving the quality of dance in our community and providing new platforms for experiencing dance. Formed in 2014, by a group of passionate dance artists and producers who saw a need for better access to dance in a town that trains thousands of young people to dance, only to lose them to the bright lights of London. Passionate about the positive and life changing impact that dance can have on people’s lives, the organisation is committed to broadening access to dance and working closely with other community and charitable organisations to access those who most need it. Determined to create a thriving dance landscape locally, the organisation now delivers a broad programme of work across the local area, fusing community projects with high quality professional work.

Fèis an Tairbeirt is a traditional music charity based in Tarbert, Argyll. It was established in 2016 by a group of volunteers keen to ensure that people of all ages in Mid-Argyll and Kintyre are offered the chance to learn to play an instrument and experience the joy of playing music together with others. Fèis in Scottish Gaelic means “festival” or “feast.” It has come to mean a tuition festival, usually for children and young people, which celebrates the music and song culture connected with the Gaelic language. Fèis is an opportunity for individuals to come together and develop skills in the Gaelic arts – song, dance, drama, and traditional music on a wide range of instruments. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of children and adult learners to play traditional music with some of Scotland’s leading musicians and tutors. International Space School Educational Training Ltd., trading as ISSET, is the commercial arm of the Trust that manages the different programmes and handles direct-to-consumer sales internationally. For over 20 years, in partnership with some of the world’s leading organisations, the Trust and ISSET have led the way in space and STEM education for all. The Trust runs sponsored programmes for students who may not otherwise be afforded these opportunities. We work closely with education ministries and local governments to ensure we accommodate students who are best in need of these experiences.

We are delighted to welcome our new Executive Director Paul Smyth, who comes to us with a wealth of experience and a strong reputation for ground breaking youth work. I am thrilled to have taken up the post of Executive Director with Politics in Action – and I want to start by congratulating my predecessor Patricia O’Lynn on her election to the Northern Ireland Assembly. We live in a turbulent time for politics around the world, nationally and locally – and this makes the work of supporting young people’s role as active citizens more challenging and even more important. We are emerging from a global pandemic which has put unprecedented restrictions on the lives and freedoms of young people, and which has impacted their learning, their social lives, their relationships and for some their mental health. Politics in Action responded proactively to these challenges by moving workshops online and ensuring continuity. I am optimisticwe can return to largely face-to-face delivery of our programmes with young people in schools and other settings, and can find new ways of engaging with more young people and in particular those who are not normally invited into conversations about politics and citizenship. Much of what we already do is in collaboration with schools and with other youth organisations. I see so much potential for additional collaborations that allow our little charity to punch above its weight. One of the many attractions of the role is the excellent Board of Trustees who provide strong governance, leadership and vision for Politics in Action. They bring significant social and political capital to the charity and use it in the interests of young people and our shared future. I would love to hear your ideas about how Politics in Action should direct our energies over the coming months and years.
