he Premises Music Education Programme is a registered charity based at the UK’s most popular music studio complex The Premises. Established in 1996, the organisation provides a range of training courses and workshops, giving musicians of all ages, abilities and budgets the opportunity to work and train in studios frequented by the likes of Laura Marling, Michael Kiwanuka, FKA Twigs, Emeli Sande, James Bay, Roots Manuva, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Paloma Faith to name just a few. The organisation started out running the most successful New Deal For Musicians scheme in the country, giving a head start to many upcoming artists. From there the Education Programme developed a series of regular workshops including a Jazz Vocal and Recording Workshop, a Songwriting and Recording Course with A-list master-class tutors and an annual Jazz Piano Summerschool. The Charity works closely with Hackney Music Service Network and local schools including Mossbourne Academy, Stoke Newington School, Petchey Academy, Morpeth School, Bridge Academy, Cardinal Pole School and Haggerston School. One popular activity is the Saturday Voice Jam, a unique opportunity for young people to come to the studios, form vocal groups, improve their singing skills, make recordings and put on roof-raising performances. Living Well Consortium is the West Midlands’ leading mental health consortium, which consists of over 30 Third Sector mental health organisations. These consortium members each use their experience and networks to work in a cross-collaborative way, to ensure that those who are looking for ways to access mental health and wellbeing support can do so in an efficient way. These Third Sector members work to relieve the pressure felt by the medical services, by delivering community-based and community-oriented services that focus on prevention, wellness, recovery, and resilience, in turn building a more sustainable and long-lasting solution. These Consortium Members are the service providers for Living Well Consortium. To deliver this approach using the members’ collective knowledge, resource, and capacity, Living Well UK is the public-facing charity that brings the work of the consortium members to the people of the West Midlands. This charity arm provides free mental health support to people living in Birmingham and Solihull, promoting wellbeing from an individual and community perspective to help find practical solutions to life’s challenges. These include online stress and anxiety courses, counselling and self-help, creative therapies, and CBT, drawing on the knowledge of a consortium of expert members across the city.

Chair of the Board Sir Martin Davidson Sir Martin Davidson KCMG joined GBCC's board in 2007 and has been chair of the board since February 2015. He is a former chief executive of the British Council. Sir Martin has spent much of his career in China and Hong Kong. His commitment to international relationships has been a constant feature of his work. Sir Martin is an independent non-executive director of the House of Fraser Group and a board advisor to a number of China and education related businesses. He is also chair of International Inspiration, the sport for development charity which sprang from the London 2012 Olympics and vice chair of Leonard Cheshire Disability, the UK’s leading disability charity. Sir Martin lives with his family in Dorset and is a trustee of the Dorset Community Foundation. Sir Martin was knighted in 2014 for his services to British cultural, scientific and educational interests worldwide.

Belfast Tool Library is the first tool lending library in Northern Ireland. Tool Libraries work just like any other library. You become a member and then you can borrow tools. We’re not-for-profit, and are applying to become a charity. The team behind BTL are all volunteers. We’re from lots of different backgrounds, but share the same passion to build community, and to share skills and resources. There’s definitely a few tool geeks among us too - but you would expect that, right? We’re located at the former Belfast Met/Rupert Stanley Building in the old woodwork workshop. After lying empty for some years, the building has been taken over by Vault Artist Studios, and brought back to life. It is off the Newtownards Road and close to the centre of Belfast with parking available. Our goals are simple. We want to: Promote DIY, making and repair skills through the sharing of tools Make Belfast a more sustainable city Create opportunities for learning and development Bring people together, regardless of who they are or where they come from Sounds great, right? We plan to have a community workshop which is open to members, a space for working on your own projects and learning new skills. The workshop will have larger fixed tools and equipment available for members to use. In the future, we hope to run classes in DIY, making, building and safely using tools. Belfast Tool Library received a set up grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, for which we are very grateful. We are also indebted to all our supporters, volunteers and those who donated tools. Our ongoing costs will be met by donations and the support of members. I trained as a Careers Adviser in 2007-8 after a long career working in the charity sector in a range of roles including managing a Volunteer Centre, working with community groups, managing volunteers and recruiting learners to courses run in the community. Some of my more unusual jobs have involved working in a Youth Hostel in the Yorkshire Dales, working on a sheep farm for two years in Australia and being a Tour Guide in a monastery. Being a Careers Adviser has been a great way of combining my two main passions – helping people achieve their goals and researching and disseminating information. An optimist by nature, I believe that everyone has skills, talents and abilities. Sometimes individuals need help uncovering these and with communicating them clearly to employers or with working out their next step on their career journey. I have certainly benefitted myself over the years from the support of various career professionals. Between 2013 – 2017 I was employed as a Careers Adviser delivering a national contract for adults seeking careers advice. Whilst I loved the work I became increasingly frustrated by the limitations of the contract which prevented many clients getting what they really needed support with. I realised the only way to be able to provide an excellent client-centred service was by providing it myself! And so I launched my own business. For your peace of mind I have Professional Indemnity Insurance and am a member of the national Career Development Institute (CDI). As a Registered Professional on the CDI register I am required to carry out 25 hours per year of Continuous Professional Development. I’m really interested in being the Best Career Consultant I can be so I regularly attend training and information events in order to develop my skills and knowledge.
