I am a 500+ hour qualified yoga teacher and nutritionist. I teach Hatha & Vinyasa, restorative, relaxation, and chair yoga. I advise on nutrition, diets, and leading a healthy holistic lifestyle. I teach in group classes and teach yoga in workplaces, I provide private yoga lessons which can take place in clients' homes or via a private live Zoom Class. I also hold online vinyasa, hatha and chair yoga classes, yoga on demand via my website I run online yoga courses including 'Managing the Menopause', Yoga for Stress Relief, and various yoga workshops both in person and online. I am a trained nutritionist and Weight Loss Consultant and provide nutritional advice and individually tailored weight loss and exercise plans. I have undertaken a Nutrition and Lifestyle in Pregnancy Course by Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), ‘Understanding Obesity’ by The University of Edinburgh, Yoga & Physiology by New York University, and have recently completed a course in the Science of Exercise by the University of Colorado Boulder. I live in Salisbury Wiltshire and my hobbies include learning new yoga sequences, going to the gym, cooking vegetarian and vegan meals for family and friends, reading and walking my dog, Tank, in the New Forest I also enjoy going for bike rides in the Summer months and have recently taken up paddle boarding. Almost half of the UK’s workers report that they have considered leaving a job because of the stress levels with 60% saying they would be more motivated if employers took action to support their mental health and well-being (Mind, 2013 & 2020). Lydia and Doug both teach chair yoga, a form of yoga that can be done at a desk and is specifically designed to target the physical stresses of sitting all day. Hi, my name’s Sarah! My pronouns are they/she and I’m currently based in Cheltenham (UK) where I live with my partner. I’ve been practicing yoga for just over 6 years and I immediately fell in love with the practice. Whether it was the physical benefits from my asana (posture) practice, or the mental benefits from pranayama (breath work) and meditation, yoga changed my life (I realise how incredibly cheesy and cliché that sounds, but it’s true!)I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2019 – the experience was incredible and it completely changed my personal practice and influenced the practices I want to share. My goal is to teach yoga which is accessible for everybody – regardless of ability, age, gender, or background. I want to create classes & workshops that are gender neutral, suitable for people who are neurodiverse, accessible for all physical abilities and free of diet culture. As well as my 200 hour training, I’ve also completed Accessible Yoga training and my 85 hour Pregnancy and Post-Natal Yoga Teacher Training. My style of teaching is centred around giving you choice and autonomy in your practice. I’ll guide you through a sequence but give you a variety of options so you can find what feels right for your body. A lot of people think that yoga is what you see on social media: flexibility, handstands on beaches and contorting yourself into pretzel shapes, but it’s not! It’s about finding stillness in your mind and connecting with your body and breath. I discovered the joys of yoga during my first pregnancy in 1997. The practices have supported me through two pregnancies, birth and motherhood. I have continued to study and deepen my practice and after completing a British Wheel of Yoga foundation course in 2005, I travelled to India to experience ashram life. My love for yoga continues to grow and I feel passionately about passing on the teachings so others can enjoy its many benefits. I also practice Vipassana Meditation and have participated and helped serve on several silent meditation retreats. After qualifying as a teacher with Yoga Alliance I went on to complete a three year teacher training in Bihar School of Yoga (Satyananda Yoga), accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga, the leading governing body for yoga teaching standards. Satyananda Yoga is an authentic, holistic and systematic approach to unlocking human potential with emphasis on combining breath and movement, helping body and mind to find stillness. The training is thorough and based on practical experience, and the teachers are renowned for good quality teaching. I continue to study attending monthly Yoga days when I can and I practice daily, I am committed to making my life a living yoga practice. Since qualifying to teach I have also trained in the practice of Thai Yoga Massage., I have taken a Six month training in meditation techniques with Swami Pragyamurti. Also attended several retreats and two day workshops and more recently (2016) I untertook a six month Module in Yoga for Mental Health with Sn Amarajyoti. I occasionally run courses in Yogic Tools to Improve Mental Health - Short Courses I have seen many people, including myself, benefit from a mindful yoga practice that helps us to work with our fluctuating energies to bring about a state of steadiness and balance. In 2018 I took a training course in the 'Vashita Method of Pranayama' which is a simple and effective way to develop the breathing practices and improve our health and well being. I then continued with another course spread over 8 months " Progressive stages of pranayama" with Maarten Vermasse. I am deeply grateful for all my Yoga Teachers, who continue to inspire me, and to all the students who keep on teaching me. I have experience of teaching all ages from pre-school, teenagers, to the elderly, and from large groups to one to one sessions. I also teach a class for 10 -16 year olds with a wide range of Special Needs and a class for people with learning difficulties. Based on my experience as a carer for a wheelchair user I have devised a class for people with limited mobilities called Chair Yoga. I feel that yoga can offer many tools for supporting day to day life for people with disabilities, limited mobility and other special needs. I am passionate about what yoga has to offer and teach from my heart.
