We aim to improve the lives and wellbeing of young carers by raising awareness, offering emotional and practical support and by giving each young person the opportunity to take a break from their caring role and have fun in a friendly, supportive environment where they can be themselves and leave worries behind.

I'm passionate about children growing up feeling seen, heard and understood. Acceptance, belonging and connection in family life are so important. Over two decades of working with children, fostering and having my own birth children means I know this is easy to aspire to, but can be hard to achieve, especially if your child has different needs to others around you. My own journey into parenting was back to front – I was a foster carer for 7 years along with my husband, Steve. Our first “child” was 17 and our second was 14! These experiences plus having my own birth children who are now 6 and 8 have taught me there really is no one size fits all. We’ve had many moments feeling stuck, minunderstood, frustrated and exhausted over the years. In those challenging times having a safe space to talk, reflect, step back and access our expertise on our children has consistently made a huge difference to our experience of family life. When we had support as parents we were better able to support our children and family life was calmer and happier. It’s why doing this work matters so much to me. When I help you - your whole family will reap the benefit and you'll enjoy this precious time together so much more.

My name is Vicki and I live in Diss, I have worked in a variety of Healthcare settings, starting as a Carer over 20 years ago and most recently working as a frontline Senior Paramedic. As a Paramedic I worked in Diss and the surrounding areas for 7 years. In all of my varying roles my ethos has always been that by ensuring I am trained to the highest level, I can then provide the best level of care and support to all of those I have the honour of taking care of. This is where I developed my love of training others. I believe that if when training others you teach them to the highest standards, they will then have the ability to always do their best. By working alongside ProTrainings I can ensure that learners not only receive training that is up to date and complies with all the regulating bodies. Learners also receive support for 8 MONTHS after the course is completed, plus a lot more benefits listed below.

In 2009 Bristol Parent Carers was formed as an independent, parent-led organisation, providing the new way forward. We aim to reach out to more parent carers, involve them in a variety of different exciting ways, build on past good work and continue to provide a voice for all. We are a group of parents and carers of children with disabilities and special needs who live in Bristol. For 20 years parent carers and parent support agencies in Bristol have worked in partnership with the local authorities to shape service provision for children and young people with disabilities and special needs. These initiatives have been successful in bringing about positive changes for parent carers and their children.

Here in the Purbeck Workshop, we are a registered charity (no. 1161110) based in Wool, Dorset and we are dedicated to providing creative escapes to anyone whose life has been touched by cancer. Our relaxing and supportive workshop provides FREE activities and events throughout the year, where you can meet other people, carers and family members, who have all been affected by cancer. For us, it's not about you mastering new craft skills. It's about you taking some valuable time out, having fun and engaging with your creative self. We'll aim to take your mind off the worries and fears that cancer can bring, just for a couple of hours. If you have had a recent or previous diagnosis, if you have been bereaved through cancer or you are a family member or carer in need of a creative escape, you are all very welcome to attend our workshop. We are based a short walk from Wool Station, with off-street parking and disability accessible facilities including a lift for a wheelchair.

Sarah Harris and Rick Johnstone, qualified school teachers and ASA swimming teacher trainers, have created a swim tuition programme designed to elicit best results from swimmers on an ongoing basis, by focusing on such important concepts as: MOTIVATION ENJOYMENT EXCITEMENT PROGRESS POSITIVITY SUCCESS We teach small groups of children, from complete beginners to advanced swimmers on the verge of competitive training. Our youngest performers are 2 years old, who are joined in the pool by their parent / carer. Of course safety is a paramount consideration in everything we do. Our programme comprises of 8 attainment levels, with clearly defined criteria for progress from one stage to the next. We promote happiness and enjoyment in swimming and cultivate a success-filled environment for all, at every level throughout the programme.
