Mital is a visionary leader, innovator, learner and educator. She founded the multi-award-winning Spark Academy back in 2009 whilst she was teaching as a qualified teacher in schools. As a passionate educator with a strong social conscience, Mital’s firm ethos is about making quality education affordable; so that it provides pathways for social mobility and brighter opportunities in your child’s future. Mital’s own academic journey came with a fair few challenges, which meant that she went through many struggles and coping mechanisms to keep up to speed with her learning. Diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 21, Mital came to understand why she processed information differently. This is why she is an advocate of non-conformist learning techniques that will help any child realise their infinite potential. Mital shares her methodology to learning in her book “Study Like This, Not Like That”, which she has refined over fifteen years, and which earned her the MBA student of the Year in 2021 – an award out of 20,000 students worldwide. Mital not only has a unique teacher’s perspective but that of a learner too! Mital is actively looking at ways to improve the learning experience for Spark’s students and she is a big believer in research and development of the programme to suit not only children’s current needs but also to reduce the future skills gap – ensuring that all children under Spark’s care are future-ready with the skills and strategies to lead brighter and joyous lives.

Ofsteds new judgement are personal development will focus on how you promote children’s personal development. Inspectors will use their professional judgement to consider the effectiveness of your provision on children’s all-round development. So… How do you: 👉 Enable children to be increasingly independent? 👉 Prepare children for life in modern Britain through the development in their understanding of fundamental British Values? 👉 Enable children to form secure attachments? 👉 Foster and nurture a sense of belonging? 👉 Expand children’s vocabulary to enable them to vocalise or communicate their thoughts and ideas? 👉 Create opportunities for children to manage risk? 👉 Encourage children to reflect on their differences and understand what makes them unique? The New Education Inspection Framework places a greater emphasis on care practices and children’s independence within this area. 👏 Also within personal development comes the importance of sharing information with children around the dangers of the internet and how children can keep themselves safe.👏 Also Ofsted’s phrase ‘prepare children for life in modern Britain’ brings into play the importance of British values. The key pillars of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect for those of different faiths, needs to be evident within your practice. Leaders must ensure that the approach taken has meaning and relevance for children of different ages and is not just seen as a tick box exercise. If you would like any further information / ideas of how to embed personal development into your practice without more paperwork please contact Topey

We are a dynamic and expanding Multi Academy Trust currently comprising nine schools, which serve the families of children in and around Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. Our purpose is to provide an inspiring education for our young people that supports them to reach their full potential and become well rounded, successful citizens. Through our common purpose and values, we offer an outstanding curriculum that allows our young people to develop both personally and academically. We do this by inspiring pupils through inspired teaching. We empower young people to realise their potential and surpass their own expectations from Early Years to Post 16, imparting the knowledge, skills and behaviours to ensure they are fit for the future. Our all-through schools network enables the ideal transition between phases of education, supporting high levels of progress and inclusivity. At the same time, all our schools have an independence that allows them to best serve their communities, supported by delegation of a range of powers to our local governing boards. As a growing Trust we are supporting our schools to excel through a strong central team, in addition to Trustees and Members who offer a variety of experience and expertise. By working with employers and higher education providers we enrich learning opportunities and secure competitive destinations for pupils when they leave our care. We focus on on-going evaluation and improvement, collaborating between schools and drawing on expertise both within and external to the Trust to ensure the best education, professional development, and value for money.

All our students are individuals and every student is valued for their uniqueness and the skills and aptitudes they bring to the Academy. A key strength of St Mark's is the very aptitudes they bring to the Academy. A key strength of St Mark's is the very high quality relationships that exist between members of a highly diverse school community- the Academy has a strong set of values shared by all. The Academy is situated in extensive grounds in a pleasant green field location with first class resources for success.
