Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland md3.jpgMD5.jpgMD6.jpg Saturday the 12th of December, 2020 marks the 160th anniversary of the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny in Ireland. We wish to acknowledge the contribution and achievements of the Sisters who have been synonymous with the education of young women in Ireland for many generations. The order, founded in France in 1807 by Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, has been instrumental in the education of thousands of young women as well as providing a novitiate for those who received God’s calling. In recent years they have also been involved in providing nursing care for the elderly. “ We have been asked to go to Ireland to teach the poor and the well -to- do. I have been assured that we could do much good there. If such be the will of God, I agree to this foundation with all my heart”. Blessed Anne Marie wrote the above in 1850. However, it was to be ten years before the congregation would set foot on Irish soil. From the time the penal laws ended many bishops encouraged religious orders to come to Ireland. The Ireland of 1860 was very different from today. Irish land was owned by landlords who played a pivotal role in shaping the rural fabric of the country and landlord–tenant relationships came to dominate the mid-Victorian period.

Dionne Smith, Founder DPS Brand Consultancy Ltd

dionne smith, founder dps brand consultancy ltd

As a personal coach and business brand consultant, I work with new entrepreneurs and established businesses, to help them learn how to develop themselves, their business and their team into an authentic, influential and powerful brand. Creating a successful brand takes time, but the benefits you and your business receive definitely make the focus and investment you need to get there worthwhile. The most important thing is to start from the inside and work outwards. Stay focused on your mission, vision and your values and use them as your foundation to build a consistent, strong and trusted business that always strives to deliver on its brand promise. Having worked for over 25 years in the public and private sector, my experience has taught me that in order to create a successful brand, you need to invest in yourself (and your team) as well as your business. It's also been a personal journey of discovery for me and it hasn't been without it's challenges in pursuit of learning more about myself and having the self-confidence to value myself and everything I have learned. I now use my skills, knowledge and experience to fulfil my passion of helping others to do the same. The reason people work with me is because I care about what matters to them. I'm honest, open and genuine in my approach and I don't try to force people down a route that's not right for them. Your success is relative to you and the determination your have to be successful.

Wardley Primary School

8TX,

Together, we are committed to creating a supportive environment, built on care and respect, in which all children are encouraged to believe in themselves and aspire to be the best that they can be. At Wardley Primary School, we are an inclusive school in which adults share the highest expectations of children. Across all areas of learning, we endeavour to build upon the children’s individual personal strengths in order to allow them to fulfil their potential. We want every one of our pupils to believe in their own success, through the promotion of self-belief and determination. Together, we have created a nurturing environment where children feel safe and secure and are supported and valued by the adults around them. Although academic success is a driving factor, we also want our pupils to be active and healthy, both physically and emotionally. We aim to give our pupils the skills and knowledge that they need in order to be successful learners, good citizens and lead positive lives in our ever-changing world. In our school, we promote resilience, ambition and perseverance within all aspects of our vibrant and diverse curriculum. Respect and the building of positive relationships is at the core of what we do. Our aims are not something we believe we can achieve without building positive relationships and working collaboratively with our parents/ carers; it is our goal to work closely with families to enable the children to develop and improve in the most effective way possible.

Our broad curriculum, exceptional pastoral care and nurturing environment at Wellesley helps to foster the individual strengths of every pupil. Academic success is a priority, and our pupils benefit from small classes, superb facilities and dedicated, talented teachers. We are proud of the excellent results that our pupils achieve in their entrance exams to a wide range of the UK’s top public schools. However, at Wellesley education is so much more than just what is learned in the classroom. Our aim is to lay strong foundations, and teach our pupils vital life skills that will help them to succeed throughout their life. All the children are encouraged to take part in a wide array of activities, and they each get the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, helping them to learn the importance of teamwork, resilience, and how to win and lose graciously. Pupils are encouraged to try new experiences and take a few risks, which helps them to build their self-confidence, ignite passions and make lifelong friends. We instill strong values in every child, and encourage them to be well-mannered, considerate and kind. By the time our pupils move on to their senior school they are confident, motivated young adults, well prepared to thrive and deal with the excitements and challenges that lie ahead. Northern Ireland Commission For Catholic Education

Antrim,

Welcome to this website of the Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education which will act as a hub of information for Catholic education within Northern Ireland. As well as providing links to the schools within the Catholic Managed Sector in N.I. it will also link to other education partners. In addition, it will provide those interested in Catholic education with resources, guidance and policies to assist them in their work. It will also be a place of celebration for Catholic education and include examples of the Catholic ethos alive in our schools. Across Northern Ireland there are 489 Catholic schools serving the needs of 45.5% of the school population. Our schools, working with the parents as the primary educators of their children, strive to ensure that children and young people discover their uniqueness as individuals and develop their gifts and talents as full members of a faith community. Northern Ireland has experienced conflict. But our schools are not some sort of quaint relic from a divided past. They have shown themselves to be active contributors to reconciliation and the Common Good. Our schools are open and welcoming to children and young people of all nationalities and of all faiths and to those who have no religious affiliation. Within our schools we promote a belief that difference is to be understood and celebrated as a source of enrichment. This mission is undertaken by Governors, school leaders and staff who are dedicated and committed to supporting the children and young people in their care and the communities in which they are located.
