Alternative Curriculum Education

alternative curriculum education

Peterborough

We currently work to support secondary schools, colleges, private care organisations and pupil referral units and offer both an academic and vocational programme of activities for young people not accessing mainstream education for whatever reason. We can offer students up to a three day programme or a combination of days (up to a maximum of 18 hours per week) to suit your requirements. We can also cater for small groups (4-6 students) and can offer a bespoke programme of activities on either a short term or long term basis. Students can be placed 'on and off' the programme as required and can start the programme as soon as we receive a completed referral and consent/medical form. We liaise closely with the referral agency and the parents/guardian regarding attendance, behaviour and achievement throughout the students placement at A.C.E. and provide daily attendance registers to each referral agency. Student trackers and reports are sent termly and are also available on request by other professionals involved with a young person placed with us. Alternative Curriculum Education was founded over 20 years ago in 2000 by the Directors Marie Carrick & Leslie Carrick. Since then they have built up a team of reputable Tutors and Support Workers and helped over 1000 students achieve the grades they require to secure places at college and thus advance their learning. The centre was awarded the Alternative Education Probation Certificate from Cambridgeshire County Council in January 2020 as well as various other awards over the years.

The King's (The Cathedral) School

the king's (the cathedral) school

Peterborough

Our long history and exceptional achievements are things of which we are all extremely proud. We are convinced that pupils of all abilities will thrive in our challenging, supportive and friendly environment. The care we take over promoting wellbeing is at the heart of this academic success. Excellent examination results are important, but not enough. Our aim is to encourage pupils to be balanced individuals, happy in their own success, and confident enough to give their full commitment to all that they do. The individual’s wellbeing, we believe, is rooted in a confident sense of who they are. This confidence and sense of value grows as a child experiences the benefits of contributing to School teams, in orchestras or, perhaps, as a key member of a production. It is through such contributions that a child discovers how to belong, as well as feeling confident about their contribution to their wider community. In this way your sons and daughters will learn not only to take advantage of the vast array of opportunities that are available at The King’s School, but also to lead full, rewarding and balanced lives. In our Cathedral School, mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. We seek to nurture a sense of belonging to our extended family, in which every member is valued. We do all we can to support every child, and adult, at The King’s School and to treat them as an individual, capable of making a unique, distinctive and valued contribution. Our goal is that, by the time your child leaves us they, and their family, will have enjoyed the reward of being a part of a ‘Family Achieving Excellence’. Such a welcome awaits every child, and family, that joins us and we ask that your sons and daughters will respect alternative views, show empathy and compassion, and develop an understanding of their own beliefs as well as the beliefs, and values, of others.

Welcome to Abbey College; your local school where every child is known as an individual and all children can achieve their ambitions. We believe a good education is crucial for the wellbeing and fulfilment of our students. This was highlighted in our most recent successful Ofsted inspection where the school was awarded Good in every category and achieved an overall Good status. We provide an excellent education and the best opportunities for the students in our care. As society continues to change, it is important that our school provides a safe and stable environment where all young people feel valued, can learn and achieve the best of their abilities. 100% of our parents last year said that they would recommend the school to other parents on Parent View, which is just one of the things we are very proud of.   In 2019, (the last time official examinations were taken), 68% of our students achieved the top 4-9 grades (the equivalent of the old A*-C) in both English and Maths, with over 50% attaining grades 5-9. Our collective aim is to ensure that all students experience happiness, while they are challenged to meet goals and achieve their dreams, alongside celebration, reflection, and tradition. A student’s education is not a dress rehearsal; they only get one chance. I believe that high quality teaching, learning and engagement is at the heart of every good school. I look forward to continuing to work with the wonderful team at Abbey College, to ensure our students have the best opportunities to be successful. At Abbey College, we run a wide variety of extra-curricular and leadership opportunities for our students allowing them to show their potential in many ways; from joining the Junior Leadership Team to becoming one of our Sports Leaders. We are proud of our students and staff, so please come and meet us all and experience the College for yourself. To arrange a visit, please call or email and we will be delighted to arrange a personal tour for you.

GLOBALIZATION AND THE GLOBAL POLITICAL ECONOMY | Live Online | Learning University-Level Course (Non-Credit)

By Gada Academy

This course offers a dynamic introduction to Globalization and the Global Political Economy (GPE), exploring the intricate relationship between political actors and the global economic marketplace. Through a theoretically rich and historically grounded lens, you’ll examine the development, operations, and future trajectory of the global political economy. You’ll learn to apply diverse theoretical frameworks to critically analyze global economic processes. The course begins with an in-depth look at foundational GPE perspectives—mercantilism, liberalism, and structuralism—each built on distinct assumptions that shape our understanding of global economic events. From there, we’ll investigate the international "structures" of production, trade, finance, and knowledge, addressing critical questions: Who controls these structures, and to what end? What rules govern international trade? How do institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and multinational corporations shape global flows of goods and investment? Who benefits from controlling knowledge? The course culminates with an exploration of 21st-century global governance, highlighting the rise of new economic and political power centers and their evolving roles in the world. The course concludes with an exploration of 21st-century global governance, spotlighting the emergence of new economic and political power centers, such as BRICS, and their evolving roles in the world. We’ll also examine how the United States under Donald Trump shifted from traditional liberal internationalism toward more transactional and bilateral approaches, reshaping global relationships and challenging established norms Learning Outcomes By the end of this course, you will be able to: Analyze the major political themes in the historical evolution of the international economy. Understand debates surrounding the emergence and impacts of a globalized economy, including patterns of inequality. Evaluate key GPE theories and perspectives in both historical and contemporary contexts. Apply theoretical insights to explain the causes and effects of international trade, capital flows, monetary relations, and globalization debates. Recognize the vital role of human and environmental security in political economy studies. Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills when assessing political phenomena. Project Management for the Unofficial Project Manager™

4.9(7)

By Noble Foods

Success = Value + People + Process With innovation happening more than ever, the new agile project economy requires more and more people across organisations to manage projects successfully, leading to many of us quietly slipping into the role of the unofficial project manager! The problem is very few people receive formal training on how to do it. Stakeholders, scope creep, limited training, and a lack of process all combine to raise the probability of project failure costing organisations time, money, and employee morale Is it any wonder 65% of all projects fail* each year! The good news is—unofficial project managers can build confidence to lead high-value projects and engage teams in a way that inspires them to volunteer their best efforts. Source: *Nieto-Rodriguez, A. (2021). “The Project Economy Has Arrived.” Harvard Business Review; Nov/Dec 21. Outcomes Project Management for the Unofficial Project Manager™ combines best practices from agile and waterfall project management to equip learners with the mindset, skillset, and toolset to engage and inspire team members. Success starts with the core agile principle of value—a project must deliver value to Noble! Once value is established, it is people who make projects successful through a consistent process. Project management isn’t just about managing logistics and hoping the project team is ready to play to win. The skills of “informal authority” are more important than ever before, so team members are inspired to contribute to project success! This course will help learners: Build strong informal authority that inspires project teams to consistently volunteer their best efforts. Utilise a consistent process to start and finish high-value projects on time and with quality. Influence and engage others to define a clear project scope, including clear deliverables and risk strategies. Model openness and agility to apply proactive change management and deliver high-value projects. Project Management Framework The Project Management Framework guides you through five distinct elements in the life of any project. Coupled with the foundational behaviours taught in the programme, this framework can help you deliver highly successful projects again and again. Who Should Attend? This programme is for anyone who finds themselves leading projects at work, regardless of whether or not their job title says, Project Manager! It is NOT a deep dive into project management processes, nor is it a qualification based programme. Whilst it would be helpful to either be involved in or to be leading a project, during the programme, this is clearly not essential. However, it is advisable that the participants have had some experience, whether as a project member or as the person who is leading the project (officially or not)! Project Management Institute (PMI) FranklinCovey is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Authorised Training Partners (ATP) Programme and this course has been designed to satisfy the project management education requirement for PMI Certifications as well as Professional Development Education units (PDUs) needed by PMI credential holders.
