She has worked on government, and United Nations-backed projects with delegates from over 72 countries, has hosted television shows to raise social awareness in Japan and Ukraine and co-founded a charity in India to bring about reforms in education. She has travelled to almost 60 countries and takes a keen interest in the lives and cultures of people. Nikita recently received recognition for her work in the field of education and training as ‘Top 100 Leaders in Education’ from the Global Forum for Education and Learning. She has worked with people of all backgrounds, cultures and ages – right from babies to adults. Her wealth of experiences enables her to engage with people from all walks of life. Nikita works in London as an Educational Consultant providing training and advice to international schools and private and voluntary sector institutions. She has transformed ‘inadequate’ rated schools into ‘good’ (Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills inspection in England). She genuinely cares about the families she works with and uses creative ways to meet their unique needs. For example, at one of the schools, Nikita created a bespoke software to enable the staff to accurately track children’s progress and communicate it with their parents, while reducing unnecessary paperwork. In her spare time, she volunteers in orphanages and charities supporting underprivileged children in Romania. Nikita delivers corporate staff training on the very contemporary topic of Emotional Intelligence and Wellbeing. She firmly believes that as adults, we need to think of our wellbeing, to benefit ourselves and to enable us to support people in our care. Nikita also trains parents and teachers on this very topic, which is also a topic of her doctoral research. She firmly believes that it’s never too early or too late to think of emotional literacy. Nikita has a master’s degree in business and economics and is a qualified teacher with post-graduate qualifications in Froebelian and Montessori philosophy and psychology. She has done several other pieces of training in the field of education to support children with special needs. She is trained as a forest school leader, a first aider and as a safeguarding lead. She is a certified Life Coach, and a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and Nero-Linguistic Programming practitioner. She feels passionate about education, and her vision is to help people attain their potential by connecting with their own emotions and having healthy relationships. Barnes Common Limited formed in 1992 and has been a not-for-profit, limited liability company with charitable status since April 2013. For decades known as Friends of Barnes Common, the charity changed its name in 2022 to Barnes Common Limited (BCL) to reflect its evolving nature and help further growth. It is heavily involved in conservation, community and education engagement. Vine Road Recreation Ground is currently in the consultation phase of a proposed major enhancement of the site. Today, the charity is overseen by a Board of Directors and Management Committee. We have an active, growing membership, many of whom are part of our dedicated and invaluable team of volunteers.

Since we opened in 2011 Hammersmith Academy has been striving to do something different. I founded HA because I wanted to create an inspiring school in the local community that had a clear vision, fostered self-confidence in its students and provided a Private School level of education for all. At HA we have adopted the Growth Mindset: excellence isn’t given at birth, but earned through hard work and determination. We focus on pushing our students to attain the highest qualifications they can, but they will only do that if they also develop a strong character. Qualifications open the door, but character gets you through it. Our longer lessons, peer to peer leadership, and mandatory ‘Session 3’ extra-curricular programme, ensure a richer, more in-depth delivery of the national curriculum, in which students take responsibility for each other and have ample opportunity to embrace subjects and skills they feel passionately about. We set high expectations and challenge our students to aspire to be outstanding in all areas of school life. From their uniform, to their attitude to learning, to their conduct in and outside of the classroom, we expect an exemplary approach at all times. Students and staff adopt a professionalism that would be standard in any job, to fully prepare our young people for the world of work. Our students and our staff work exceptionally hard, and you can see that in the sheer amount of quality work and experience that is achieved on a day to day basis. You can see evidence of this in any of our termly newsletters, or on our social media. In my experience of working in inner-city education, and my own time at school, I sometimes saw an attitude that assumed some people ‘can’t do’, and I knew this was wrong. I see that people, of any age, will respond to clear boundaries and clear vision. If you show your students you have belief in them and encourage them to have belief in themselves, their confidence grows and they surprise themselves with what they can achieve. Our students will leave school not only academically qualified, but confident, mature and ready to prove themselves.

Newspapers publish heartbreaking pictures, we read statistics which boggle the mind in their numbers, learn stories which appall in their tales of suffering. At the same time running through the difficult realities are threads of potential, of optimism, resilience and of capacity for hope. It is here that Ashoka strives to work. For more than thirty years, Ashoka has identified and supported the world’s best social entrepreneurs – leaders with innovative new ideas which can transform broken systems for the better, in fields from health to human rights, education to civic engagement, economic development to environment. In this time we’ve elected nearly 4000 Ashoka Fellows in 90 countries across the world. In a collaboration between Ashoka Germany and Zalando, Hello Europe was created in 2016 to identify the most powerful and proven solutions to challenges surrounding migration, integration and refugee movements with the aim of bringing them to scale in regions most in need. Over time a European, cross-border network of solutions began to emerge, and we began to identify a new paradigm around migration and integration. Now 3 years on, Hello Europe aims to provide a vision of the kind of work happening in Europe and around the globe, which is creating a better society for people on the move as well as for those who meet them. There is a lot at stake: by providing the refugees with only enforced isolation, a lost education, and half-hearted integration, nobody wins.
