Would you like a better understanding of HIV? Do you work with people who may be living with HIV or who are at risk of contracting HIV? Brigstowe’s HIV Awareness Training empowers professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to work confidently with people living with, affected by or at risk of HIV. Our HIV Awareness Training is open to all professionals; from front-line support staff, managers or HR personnel. We have experience in delivering to a range of professionals including: social workers, medics, Avon & Somerset Police, prison staff, mental health care providers, housing associations and other voluntary organisations. We tailor the training to meet the needs of your organisation or business.  We will usually cover: * HIV prevention and transmission. * Clarify the definitions and differences between HIV & AIDS. * Provide up-to-date information on treatment. * Explore stigma and prejudice. * Explain testing services. * Promote best practice when working with a person living or affected by HIV. * Inform participants of support available. All sessions will include a guest speaker living with HIV who will share their experience in order to help trainees better understand what it is like to live with HIV.  “SUCH CLEAR, CONCISE & INFORMATIVE TRAINING – IT ALLOWED ME TO HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING WORKING WITH CLIENTS.”  “THANK YOU SO MUCH, IT WAS FANTASTIC. I HAVE HAD SUCH GREAT FEEDBACK FROM STAFF AND PRISONERS. SOME SAID IT WAS THE BEST TRAINING SESSIONS THEY HAD RECEIVED AND THAT WAS FROM THE STAFF. PRISONERS ARE RAVING ABOUT IT; IT’S CREATED SUCH A BUZZ AROUND THE PLACE.” For more information on our HIV Awareness Training or to book our training package please get in touch.

If you are an ex-Abbeywood Community School or Filton High School student you can get involved in the school Alumni in the following ways: Share your pictures and stories of your time at school via flickr found here and the Filton High and Abbeywood Schools former staff and pupils association facebook page found here. Contact the Headteacher (Ben.Dilley@olympustrust.co.uk) if you would like to offer any direct support for the school as a business mentor or if you’re interested in coming into the school to inspire current Abbeywood students with your experiences and achievements We are always delighted to hear of the achievements of our alumni – so please do get in touch. ….I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the teachers and staff at Abbeywood who have taught me, formally and informally and have contributed to my academic success. Abbeywood remains fond in my memories and I really cherish the time I have spent there. Truth be told I have never been that good in academics before I went to the UK but I believe the fun I had in school there made me a person who was eager to learn more and develop a thirst for knowledge. Please send all my love and thanks to all the teachers there who have supported me through my high school days at Abbeywood. Thank you very much for providing me with a safe and comfortable learning environment. A lot of what I have learnt there has shaped the person I am today, not just in academics but also morally. I believed I have gained a lot of confidence and become a very critical thinker during my time there. Do send my regards to the community in Abbeywood, especially the teachers that taught me and my fellow friends. Thank you too sir for being very encouraging and supportive!

Clean Slate Training And Employment

clean slate training and employment

London

We want to see a world where people can provide for themselves and their family, where society addresses everyone’s needs and where it does not cost more to be poor. It should provide fair opportunity for all so anyone willing and able can access employment. Our job is to do everything possible to enable people to improve their financial wellbeing. Everyone needs to be able to manage their money well, find work and access every facility to help them do so, including online services. Clean Slate, in partnership with Quids in!, is re-writing the rulebook on helping low income households to become better off. We are proudly different by: Explaining to claimants, tenants and low-income earners what’s really going on, what to be cautious about and what opportunities exist Recognising and helping people to see their own abilities to help themselves and each other Focusing on the present and the future, not the past, and respecting people's need for something personalised and of practical benefit to them now and into the future Valuing people as integral to how we engage others from similar backgrounds and activating people as community activists by making them central within our enterprise Being motivated by social justice, tackling poverty and inequality and giving people a voice Making sustainability, independence, people’s trust and creating a real difference core to our work Clean Slate Training & Employment is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company in business to: Provide skills and training to people at risk of or affected by poverty and/or unemployment, and the people who work with them, so everyone can provide for themselves and their family and get involved in their communities Promote ways for people to ‘future-proof’ their finances and engage with digital life Create paid work and other opportunities for benefit claimants, social tenants and low-paid workers as stepping stones towards reaching their potential
