Littleover Taekwon-Do is a family orientated Taekwon-Do club which took up it’s independent status in 2007. We teach ITF Chang Hon style Taekwon-Do and we are part of Authentic Taekwon-Do England. Authentic England is registered with International Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do Federation (ICTF). We are also registered with the British Martial Arts & Boxing Association. We follow a set grading structure that allows steady progression through the art up to black belt level and beyond. The Instructors See our instructors page The syllabus See our syllabus page. Costs We are not a business and try as much as possible to keep training costs to a minimum. Family groups are encouraged to attend. Our current fees can be seen here. We collect payment monthly, in advance, via bank transfer. We ask students to commit to the full month. This helps us manage the class size cost effectively, and regular attendance is essential to making progress. Some fees (e.g. grading fees) are collected via Spond. Sparring equipment is essential for protection when you start sparring. Students are permitted to spar after successfully passing their first grading. See our equipment list for more information. We strongly recommend purchasing gear from Academy Sports in Derby. When you visit Academy Sports please let them know you are attending Littleover Taekwon-Do so they know to provide the appropriate gear. We don’t receive any commission. If sparring kit is purchased from elsewhere we can’t guarantee it will be acceptable for use within LTKD. Please check with us first. Doboks (the white suits we train in) are ordered via your instructor.

Steelworking still has a presence in Workington in the shape of the TSP heavy engineering works. The last part of the main steelworks disappeared in 2005 with the closure of the rail mil and long welded rail plant. Rails had been made in Workington and exported over the world for 128 years. Leyland established its national factory in 1971 at nearby Lillyhall. Over a life of less than a quarter of a century the factory despatched thousands of Nationals, Lynxes, Olympians, Titans and rail buses. As well as being bus (and rail) enthusiasts, we want to mark the unique contribution of the town to the country’s economic and cultural development. WTHT (Workington Transport Heritage Trust) Our vehicles include a number of buses, fire engines and other vehicles some of which are used in community events. Volunteers are engaged in restoring, maintaining and operating these historic vehicles. We have an extensive archive of local bus and rail material. This includes posters, signs, publicity materials, books, magazines, drawings, photographs, and petrol pumps. Our shop at Workington railway station sells hot & cold drinks, snacks, souvenirs, WTHT branded items and second hand books. It is by the main waiting room and, in normal times, it is open Mon to Saturday from 9am to 2pm, closed on bank holidays. All hours are subject to volunteer availability. Using our heritage buses, we usually run local free bus services on Boxing Day, plus park and ride services at a number of local shows. Our premises are home to around 16 of our own vehicles plus 11 privately owned guest vehicles. Not all of these are currently fit for the road. We work with groups which include Cumbria Omnibus Group, The 550 Group, Barrow Transport Group, Carlisle Bus Group, and a number of individual owners. We have two sites only one of which has a building – but we are working on curing this fault! We are grateful for the support of our members, and local businesses including Stagecoach North West and Northern Rail. We have volunteering opportunities in all aspects of restoring, maintaining and driving vehicles. Also in buildings and site maintenance, cataloguing & running our archive, producing educational materials, running trips and events, and fundraising.

Government College, Hisar is a premier higher education institution of Government of Haryana. It is a prestigious college established in 1950 and has continuously been maintaining its heritage of providing quality education to students since then. It is ‘A’ grade NAAC accredited HEI and is among the Model Colleges of Government of Haryana. It is an affiliated college and recognized by UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B). Presently, it is affiliated to Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar. It is running from a sprawling campus of about thirty-four acres with a built up area of about 9575.99 square meters. It is situated at the central location of Hisar on Rajgarh Road. It imparts learning to about 5200 students from diverse socio-cultural background in twenty-three courses for eleven undergraduate programmes including four honours and six postgraduate programmes. A dedicated, scholarly and hardworking team of about two hundred teachers assisted by committed and industrious sixty members of non teaching staff is the mainstay of the college. The spacious classrooms with necessary teaching aids and the good network of well equipped laboratories are instrumental in imparting quality education to students. There is a separate block of Library within the main building consisting of well stocked two storied book space, a well equipped E-Resource Center and an extended reading lounge. The large eight acre multipurpose sport ground, the grounds for handball, basketball and badminton, the open gym and the facility of wrestling and boxing mats are the part of college sports infrastructure. The well furnished auditorium with good audio-visual facility provides ready arrangements for organization and rehearsal of different events. Other support facilities in the college include a well equipped Conference-cum-Activity Room, two permanent open stages, a Girls’ Hostel with the facility of mess, gym and recreational room and a modest Canteen. Government College, Hisar works as a strong powerhouse to instill in students profound academic and interpersonal skills and infuse in them intense positive energy so that they will join the bandwagon of progress and prosperity later in their career and prove themselves as real assets for the society.

Konga encompasses Boxing, dancehall, cardio, dance, kickboxing, ballet, HIIT, strengthening and conditioning all into one....you may even see a odd twerk make an apearance! If you want to look and feel amazing, and workout to some amazing tracks KONGA is not to be missed. If you prefer dance and combat styles using fitness concepts then TYGA will be right up your street on Saturday morning - prepare to sweat and work on shaping your glutes!! In addition to the above, we also offer HATHA YOGA. A gentle class for all abilities. Yoga blocks, bricks and belts are used to support particiapnts with their postures. Yoga helps to stretch away physical tension and tone muscles, joints and the spine (which improves posture and releases tension incresing energy). After completing the class practise, we finish with some breathing exercises and releaxation, to help quiten the mind and endorce calmness which is believed to help sharepn the mind and encourage a happy peaceful attitute to life.

To say I am a fan of Pilates is somewhat of an understatement – It has changed my life quite fundamentally. I discovered Pilates in 2012 and the impact has been profound. I am both physically and mentally stronger, I have more energy, I have more stamina, and yes, I look better. Let me explain each one of those rather dramatic statements. The basic principles of Pilates are breathing, concentration, control, centering, precision and flow. I am stronger physically due to the nature of the exercises – they’re intense. Pilates was originally developed in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates from a combination of yoga, martial arts, boxing, and weightlifting. It’s not a high impact cardio routine, but controlled, precise movements that challenge the body to promote strength, flexibility, and balance – and it just works. The body becomes stronger, firmer and better aligned to cope with daily life more easily. I feel energised because I have learned how to breathe properly and I have improved my posture significantly – I have asthma – quite a scary condition I find – and understanding the effect of posture has been a massive help and taking control of my breathing has empowered me – I feel in control and less scared as such I am stronger mentally. I find daily activities don’t leave me drained as I have much more energy. I’m 43 and my world revolves around my family; a very active husband, he’s the current Masters National Champion and used to swim for his country; our brilliant daughter Emma, she’s 6 so every day brings something new; our busy busy dog Oscar, a working cocker who nobody told is nearly 11; and this year we added a couple of loppy bunnies to the team. We are more active than the pre-Pilates me would have been able to be – I’m so grateful I discovered it – the lifestyle it affords me is wonderful. I didn’t start Pilates to lose weight (there are faster routes if that’s your ambition) but lose it I have – not a particularly massive amount – I was never a candidate for Britain’s Biggest Loser but it looks like I have lost more than the scales suggest – just because engaging the core muscles brings about an improved posture that looks better. The lower abdominals and hips are where it’s most significant – and the strength that comes with that is clear. Pilates exercises are applicable – and adaptable – to suit pretty much anybody, whether you’re an active individual or not. Free from back pain, joint pain or in need of some rehabilitation, then I can help you.
