TheHorseCourse is a world leader in well-evidenced high impact equine-assisted interventions. Having started in prisons, we now run a busy community-based HQ in Weymouth, Dorset, UK – an area of high deprivation. Employing 6 facilitators and 14 horses, we work with young people from 8yrs old, families and adults. In Dorset we help over 600 people with complex challenges and needs each year, and we do not charge the participants – our funding comes from a mix of commissioning and charitable grants/donations. We also provide Alternative Provision for young people out of education, accredited qualifications, and supported volunteering through our Working Wellies project. Our Non-verbals Toolbox training is a unique approach to emotions and relationships which we offer to professionals and the public on zoom or in workshops. We train and assess others to replicate our programmes and we work hard to support them in setting up their own centres around the UK. Independent centres running our programmes are becoming increasingly busy and more are opening. We monitor their impact data to ensure they are as effective as we are, and provide ongoing training. We hold an Animal Activity Licence from Dorset Council, No: 8060, licence holder: Harriet Laurie. We also maintain Social Farms & Gardens Green Care Quality Mark and the Charity Excellence Framework Quality Mark.

Tariki Trust is a community of people who believe that our actions matter and our impact on others has consequences at many levels. Our spiritual and moral values are something which we live out, and that need to permeate all we do. They are not simply ideas or practices to be addressed in limited time slots during a busy day. Tariki Trust offers courses, training and retreats which centre on our shared interest in our living systems. These include training and events linked to ecotherapy, psychology, psychotherapy, environmentalism, spiritual care and other forms of engaged Buddhism. A UK registered Buddhist charity, Tariki Trust was founded in 2011 and has become an umbrella for a wide range of activities in these inter-related fields. Our non-sectarian outlook welcomes people from many backgrounds, some of whom are Buddhist, but many of whom are not, to share in building a vision of a more wholesome world, based on values of compassion, mutual support and care for our position as part of a greater system. Tariki Trust is a community of people who are interested in learning, ideas, creativity and social responsibility. We believe in practising through concern for others and engagement with life in all its forms. The name Tariki means 'other-power' in Japanese. Other-power is a fundamental concept in Pureland Buddhism and expresses our commitment to a collective, collaborative approach. It is also the basis for Other-Centred Approach, the model of psychotherapy which underpins many Tariki courses and events. The Other-Centred model is flexible, suggesting an attitude of engagement and encounter rather than of introspection and rigidity, and leading us to embrace many fields of involvement and cultural activities as well as the narrowly therapeutic. Many of Tariki Trust’s activities were run by an earlier organisation, established in 1996, and its course programmes have a history going back over several decades. Tariki Trust itself was established in 2011 in order to offer a dedicated space for these programmes and at this time the Ten Directions training programme in ecotherapy was also established. Tariki Trust is a UK Registered Charity Number 1149658. It has a board of trustees who oversee its work and ensure good practice. Tariki Trust does not have any salaried staff, but, rather, has teaching staff and others working on a sessional or occasional basis. This means that much of Tariki’s work in supporting courses and activities is done on a voluntary, dana basis. As a charity, Tariki Trust is subject to the jurisdiction of the UK Charity Commission and has a number of policies and guidelines in place for good practice. These can be viewed on our old website.

The 2007 House of Lord’s Science and Technology committee report on the provision of allergy services identified a significant lack of educational opportunities. There was little available to the many groups of healthcare professionals who were on the front line of delivering care to increasing numbers of patients with allergic disease. The Asthma, Allergy & Lung Biology Division of the KCL School of Medicine, under the leadership of Prof Tak Lee, had a long history of commitment to Allergy education and in May 2008 founded the Allergy Academy. Partnerships were made with industry to allow the development of a comprehensive range of courses – from large group lecture programmes to small hands-on workshops. A deliberate move was made away from generic courses aimed at increasingly diverse groups of health professionals but instead towards programmes specific to the needs of different groups, who would be involved in every aspect of course development, faculty and evaluation. Our courses were developed with the practising clinician in mind and our corporate partners have provided us with the support to ensure that cost would not be a barrier to education amongst those who wanted it.

Alexandra Fowler is an author and illustrator living in Cornwall, England. Creating books that are beautiful and interesting to both adult and child is key focus in Alexandra’s style. She is also responsible, under the pen name Lilac Rosenwyn, for the Cornish Legends chapter book series which aims to bring the world of Cornish myths and Legends to a new generation. Alexandra has an extensive background in Environmental education and conservation. Whilst working for a countryside project in Kent, Alexandra ran guided walks and children’s activities with a focus on engaging people in nature through art. Upon moving to Cornwall in 2008, Alexandra topped up her studies in Marine Environmental Management and completed a Certificate in Education, enabling her to work for a number of years as a Lecturer in Marine Biology. With the birth of her three children, Alexandra combined her educational and artistic background to create inspiring and informative children’s books for ages 9 and under. Working in traditional mediums of watercolour Alexandra creates visually appealing stories to inspire. She additionally works with other authors to bring their words to life with her illustrations.
