Currently working and living in Milan, Italy, Robert Marjoribanks’ work finds
inspiration and a great attachment to space and identity, spirituality and
pragmantism. New perspectives and varied visual information are combined to
explore possible narratives which may be overlooked or ignored as opportunities
to make art which often talks of the relationships we have with our own and
others culture and living spaces. Trained as a printmaker at Gray’s School of
Art he was increasingly interested in the physicality of the print process. This
intrigue pushed and pulled him into a more sculptural way of working. Taking
into consideration the appropriate materials to use he often works with cast or
found objects placed into a relationship with printed media and the environment
they are found in. After being awarded his bachelor’s degree he went on to
become the workshop assistant at the Edinburgh Printmakers in his hometown.
After a year working with an artist residency program helping to curate and
working with artists in Shanghai he has lived and worked in Treviso and now
Milan, Italy.
