Reel Resilience is part of AV Resilience Ltd and draws on the owner, Iain Betson's 30+ years in the professional audio/video and broadcast industries. Trained by the BBC as a studio support engineer at Broadcasting House in London, Iain worked in the studios at BH, at the world-famous Maida Vale studios, the Corporation's Radio "Outside Broadcast" department and latterly in their chain of local radio stations. In that time he worked on a wide range of reel-to-reel tape recorders, from professional models from Studer, Otari and Telefunken to consumer based decks such as Revox, Tandberg, Teac and Akai Reel Resilience offers sales, service and repair of analogue open-reel tape recorders and cassette decks. In addition, we offer a service we consider unique: Online & classroom based training for owners who wish to both learn about the format and keep their machines up to spec.

I have been a creative all my life, starting with music and moving onto various visual arts as I got older. I first showed an interest in photography at 16 when our family got a digital camera for the first time and at 21 I invested in my first DSLR camera. I haven’t looked back. I started documenting family events and as friends started having babies, I started taking documenting their families, gaining my first experiences as a family photographer. I adored playing with children and taking photos of them for their parents to enjoy and decided to start making a business of it. Knowing I had knowledge gaps, at 24, I studied photography formally for the first time. Over the years I have experimented with various styles and genres of photography doing everything from event photography to more experimental photography including Light Painting and Levitation. I have had the pleasure of taking photos at prestigious venues and companies within the North East, including BBC Newcastle, Sage Gateshead, and Gateshead College.

Shortly after, the words ‘Father Forgive’ – deliberately neutral in content – were inscribed on the wall of the ruined chancel, and Provost Dick Howard made a commitment to not seek revenge, but to strive for forgiveness and reconciliation with those responsible. During the BBC radio broadcast from the Cathedral ruins on Christmas Day 1940 he declared that when the war was over we should work with those who had been enemies ‘to build a kinder, more Christ Child-like world.’ The Cross of Nails quickly became a potent sign of friendship and hope in the post-war years, especially in new relationships with Germany and the developing links between Coventry and the cities of Kiel, Dresden and Berlin. Learn more here Coventry Cathedral is thus one of the world’s oldest religious-based centres for reconciliation, and its work in recent decades has involved it in some of the world’s most difficult and long-standing areas of conflict. Today the medieval ruins continue to remind us of our human capacity both to destroy and to reach out to our enemies in friendship and reconciliation.

Master Leo Au Yeung was the official fight choreographer for the award-winning films Ip Man (2008), The Legend is Born: Ip Man (2010), and Ip Man: The Final Fight (2013). Over the years he worked closely with transnational martial arts stars/choreographers such as Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Louis Fan Siu-wong, and Yuen Biao, as well as Hong Kong movie stars such as Anthony Wong, Gillian Chung, and Jordan Chan Siu-chun. As a second-generation disciple of Lau Kar-leung, the legendary choreographer of kung fu cinema in the 1970s and 1980s, Master Leo Au Yeung perfectly synthesises the aesthetic and authentic dimensions of traditional Chinese kung fu. On the one hand, he has inherited and refined the conventions established in Lau Kar-leung’s classics such as Challenge of the Masters (1976) and Martial Club (1981). In The Legend is Born, for example, Au Yeung choreographed an intense fight scene featuring Dennis To and the 86-year-old Ip Chun, Ip Man’s Son. One of his strengths is to design actions appropriate for the actors, regardless of their age and physique. On the other hand, Master Leo Au Yeung does not merely replicate kung fu classics. He incorporates mixed martial arts (MMA) techniques into his choreography. By so doing, he adds a realistic touch to southern kung fu.  The one versus ten dojo scene in Ip Man was one of Leo Au Yeung’s masterpiece. It perfectly combines Chinese (Wing Chun) and Western martial arts skills (joint locking, taken down, and ground fight). His influence in martial arts cinema also receives media attention in the United Kingdom. In 2016, the BBC and UWE Bristol produced a documentary, Mastering Wing Chung, featuring Au Yeung. His latest choreographical work involves original film and TV series with Marvel Studios. Request information now! We are a UK Film & TV Agency specialising in “on the move” filming. This ranges from a routes library of film-friendly driving routes, consultancy services, training and a talent agency service. For each route through our library, we offer 4K dash cam footage (front & rear footage in day and night views), a digital map and supporting documents for the locations team on the day. We are innovating the way in which we scout for “on the move” locations. We hope to also increase the training offered & level of knowledge in this area among film crew Oliver Laurenson-Gore – Location Manager & Scout set up Location Routes in early 2022 after his experience of working on PIRATES (BFI/BBC Films) back in 2019 & 2020. This roadtrip from North to Central London involving a car being the central aspect of the film. made him understand the challenges of “filming on the move”. He often found from his own experience that it was challenging to show Directors and other creatives involved suitable roads without recording the route. There was also a number of times in his career that he had to change the route last minute which has caused additional stress and wasted shooting time. Why offer this service and is it needed? Think of how many Film & TV shows that have any form of vehicles driving or stunt scenes on roads…it’s most shows! Roads are getting more difficult to find with more lane reduction programmes and cycle lanes in cities and towns across the UK. Dementia Club UK is a well-established UK charity, working hand in hand with the local community since 2013 to support people living with dementia and their carers and works in partnership with Barnet Carers and Barnet Council.  Dementia has become a growing concern and is unfortunately the leading number one killer. The main aim of a dementia club is to provide much needed respite to carers and those living with these conditions; to give our members the chance to meet socially in a relaxed atmosphere over a cup of tea and coffee and cakes and make new friends; take part in gentle exercise and fun activities.  Dementia Club UK welcomes those living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and also provides advice and information to their carers and families and also welcomes those who have lost someone with dementia and are now lonely.  Our founder and Chairman of Dementia Club UK and also former Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet and local councillor, Lisa Rutter, wrote a paper called ‘The Dementia Club UK Model’ which outlines the core principles that have come together to form our Dementia Clubs. The charity commissioned an independent research study in May 2015, conducted by Middlesex University London, which “showed (demonstrated) that the dementia club as having a positive impact on those living with or caring for a person with dementia, based on the techniques and the model used in its cafes.”   The dementia club sessions run for 2 hours in the afternoons and provide various activities from quizzes, bingo, singing, poetry reading, arts and crafts and indoor games liking putting golf or table tennis. We then have about 30 minutes of fun exercise to music including yoga and in the final part of the session we have live music entertainment performed by various professional singers including Opera singers and Elvis and Abba impersonators.  We often invite professional speakers to attend to provide information and advice on current topics related to dementia. Our members attend our dementia clubs with their families which is something we like to encourage as it creates a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our members come from many faith communities and backgrounds which makes for exciting times when we celebrate events throughout the year.  Dementia Club UK now runs 6 dementia clubs across the Borough of Barnet and also continues to run the popular online Zoom carers group meeting every week on Tuesday evening for carers. We often have guest speakers, typically from either a medical or political background, discussing relevant topics and allowing for a question-and-answer session too. We also use this session to provide training sessions in areas of health, wellbeing and mindfulness.   Dementia Club UK has recently been recognised by the Barnet Group and was awarded Charity of the Year 2020.  We have also featured as a WHICH Support Group. A radio and video documentary was produced by the BBC to help showcase the charity and all it does for the community, both of which aired on national radio and television.   Most recently in November 2022, we are very proud to have won the tender from the London Borough of Barnet to provide training online around Understanding Dementia. The aim is to help Barnet Council as they work towards their target of becoming a Dementia Friendly Borough.  We are now delivering online training to individuals and organisations, businesses, faith communities etc with the aim of creating more dementia champions and also to help organisations to become dementia friendly. Lisa has written the one-hour training course which is CPD Certified. The course is provided online using Microsoft Teams in the mornings and ZOOM in the evenings to give people a choice.  Lisa is happy however to organise bespoke training dates if any of the dates through Eventbrite are not convenient.   We aim to continue raising awareness to reach as many people as possible in all communities, to ensure people living with dementia feel safe, included and involved while retaining control over their every day life and having the scope of choice they need to live well.

Upholsterer Simion Hawtin-Smith is obsessed with vintage chairs. Simion began Reloved Upholstery because of love. For years he has loved vintage chairs, not purely on an aesthetic level but also for their silent, dependable functionality. Here at Reloved, Simion offers bespoke upholstery services andcreative workshops for budding furniture fanatics. What’s more, Simion also upholsters skip-salvaged seating for the BBC One show Money for Nothing. Simion has always been interested in interiors, especially when it comes to making and restoring things. When he was a child, his mum caught him stripping the dark stain off his bedroom furniture to bring it back to the pale wood. After studying design at college, he ended up working in the barindustry, before opening his own cafe and art gallery in Manchester. He worked hard to perfect the interior, designing it himself andworking on the upholstery. The challenges of renovating a house in France, led Simion to learn how to properly upholster furniture. He met upholsterer Dennis Gilligan, who taught Simion how toupholster the traditional way. You can read more about the brilliant Dennis in this blog.

I learnt about this through a friend of mine and it is an absolutely fantastic course to go on, it won’t let you down! I have been Cabin Crew with leading Airlines for 15 years and have gained a wealth of knowledge in dealing with minor and major incidents. This has inspired me to want to pass on that knowledge. The importance of having some basic but essential first aid skills in your life could literally save one in the future!
