Growing up, I always loved sport and physical exercise, I was up for any challenge, so when I had my first son I presumed I could get back to it right away. Unfortunately, at the time, despite all my physical activity, I had a lack of understanding about the way the body works and repairs itself. I tried to get back into all the activities I had done, and realised that I wasn’t able to do this without pain and discomfort. It just didn’t feel good. After the birth of my second son, I ended up needing a hernia operation. At that point my sister recommended Pilates - that is when everything changed for me. I understood why my body hurt. It was so simple: I wasn’t balanced. It was such a basic concept that I had never really been taught before in all my training. Very quickly, I was able to get back to the activities I loved with little or no pain! Inspired by this new knowledge, I started learning as much as I could. My passion grew the more I learned and I ended up training to become a Pilates Level 2 instructor on the Mat and the Reformer. I had to share what I had learnt with others. I enjoy working with everyone, from experienced practitioners to people trying Pilates for the first time. Recently I have worked with elite sports teams and, having been a high-level sportsperson myself in the past, I am realizing the true potential that there is to help people of all physical abilities make stronger connections with their bodies. The more we understand about our own bodies, the more we can work towards living the most active, healthy and pain free lives that we can.

We specialise in helping children with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and hypermobility as well as for those just want to learn it as a life skill, or for application towards the skill section of the DofE levels. HOME / ABOUT Welcome to the New Garden Cities Alliance We are an alliance of organisations – commercial and not-for-profit – and as well as individuals – dedicated to promote the formation of new, genuine Garden Cities. Our aim is to work in partnership with existing bodies to establish standards for Garden Cities that Britain can be proud of. Also to establish exemplars for an environmentally sustainable society that promotes the wellbeing of all citizens. In particular we wish to set minimum standards for Garden Cities: 1. Being applied to establish new settlements or for transforming existing urban precincts; 2. To integrate the design of their invisible architecture of ownership, control and funding with their visible architecture to promote the common good; 3. That requires mutual ownership of all land to capture and share its value on negotiable basis with all residents be they homeowners or tenants; 4. To attracts investors, entrepreneurs, established and new businesses to add value to the community on basis that equitably shares any profits in excess of the incentive to invest; 5. With the capacity to become largely self-reliant in regards to the basic needs of its residents for water, food and energy and value adding activities to sustain citizen prosperity in perpetuity; 6. That inspires citizens, leaders, community groups, planners, architects and all other stakeholders to work together to a common vision of an ecologically sustainable, fair and equitable society. In his presidential address in 1920 to the Iron and Steel Institute, Dr Stead revealed that he had discussed many years earlier with Andrew Carnegie his ideas for a technical institute which would facilitate "the continual acquisition of knowledge by the staffs and workmen of the iron and steel industries". Andrew Carnegie was impressed by Dr Stead's conception and told him "he would pay for just such an institute in Middlesbrough, and equip it with the standard technological books if the directors of the industries would maintain it". Discussions took place between Dr Stead and individual ironmasters who, while approving the scheme, would not act without further consideration. Andrew Carnegie died so his offer was no longer available. It is to the credit of the ironmasters that in spite of this they responded to the vision and enthusiasm of Dr Stead and the Cleveland Technical Institute was born. After many years of patient perseverance and hard work the Cleveland Technical Institute opened on 22nd September 1921. By then Dr Stead's health was failing but he became the Institute's first president, a position which brought him deep satisfaction. Iron and steel, shipbuilding and engineering were the basic traditional industries of the Cleveland area and it was to the leaders in these industries that Dr Stead made his first approaches. A joint Committee representing the Cleveland Institute of Engineers and the North-East Coast Institute of Engineers and Shipbuilders was formed and held its first meeting on 5th January 1919, in the Cleveland Club, Middlesbrough. Members of the Joint Committee were: Cleveland Institute of Engineers - Dr JE Stead, JH Harrison, RH Archer-Coulson and RE Cowell. NE Coast Engineers and Shipbuilders - EL Ord, E Hall-Brown, Harald Dixon, EH Fraser-Smith and GM Harroway.
