Welcome to Will’s School of Plastering, here we offer courses to help develop your skills you may already have within the Plastering industry or to gain the understanding and skills if you are totally new to the trade. There is the option of having short or long term courses but it all depends on where you want to be at the end stage. On all of the courses available questions are more than welcome to be asked and they will all be answered. An example of one of the courses would be the short term course which we tend to offer to beginners as this allows them to get the basic understanding of the tools and the techniques on how to use the hand board and trowel. However it’s all down to you and how much dedication and time you want to put in. On the courses you will learn the technique of the hand board and trowel by applying sand & lime and gradually learning to skim and plaster boarding but this doesn’t stop there you will also be able to learn a range of other things such as ; rendering, metal partitioning, cornice, 2 coat plastering and coving. Learning these topics all depends on the course type you’ve chosen and how much knowledge you have.

We deliver teacher training programmes . We twin the schools with UK schools for ongoing educational and cultural exchange. We assist with basic healthcare at all schools: Provide first aid kits to all schools and sanitary towels to secondary schools, Provide basic healthcare assessments on pupils, Provide assistance if parents can't afford or access essential treatment. Our Method of Delivery (Online Distance Learning) Online Live Learning via Zoom and Distance Learning (Recordings) Dedicated Learning Management System (Learning Portal) with Lessons via Zoom accessible via windows / mac computer, mobile phone (android and iPhone) and tablets (android and iPad). All modules / qualifications subject to completing and passing the examination come with certification and isnaad (Authentic certificate going through the teacher to the author of the text) Our teachers are mentored through the program under the tutelage of Shaykh Atabek. Teachers / scholars are encouraged to focus on research and teaching new optional and specialist modules each year advancing and progressing that area of study. We also have a strong ethos in scholars of the future to advance the knowledge and therefore the Shaykh may choose senior students who have qualified to teach. After completing 3 years / 3 levels and after qualifying there is no stop you may continue with Maturidi and study the specialist fields and either provide support or carry out your own research project with the guidance of Shaykh Atabek and other scholars. Our Islamic Scholarship program is highly flexible, allowing students to study modules at their own pace. We have an advisory timeframe of 3 years for completion. Examinations are held on a bi-annual basis for the modules already completed. We have a strong ethics in which we believe that the basic / foundation knowledge in each field should read everyone and therefore Shaykh Atabek has decided there will be no cost for these level 1 FREE - Basic / Foundation knowledge for modules. Continuous development - There is no end to learning, research and seeking knowledge. During our research if we believe, we need to go back to a text and further review and teach it with new principles we will do without hesitation.

Thread Republic is an affiliate of Mend Assembly (Totnes, Devon) along with Stitch Department (Ryde, Isle of Wight). Each group takes a local approach, working in our communities to offer alternatives to clothing consumption, use and disposal. Our shared knowledge will enable us to collaborate, explore and implement solutions to address issues of textile waste, lack of basic sewing and mending skills and clothing over-consumption. We are collaborative project bringing together creative practitioners, designer-makers, consultants and workshop leaders with a shared aim to provide goods and services which offer an alternative to the traditional linear lifecycle of our clothing and textiles. We believe in circular solutions. By celebrating the art of making, repair and repurposing we can ensure pieces stay in our lives for longer to be cherished and used frequently. Thread Republic is combining our joint expertise to build a community of like-minded makers, upcyclers, artists, crafters, alteration experts, menders and teachers who want to create and innovate together.

Keda spent almost all of her teaching career at one school - Sandal Road Primary School in Baildon, UK. She also almost exclusively taught just one age group, 6-7 year-olds; the age that most children pick up their reading skills. This was to become Keda’s great passion - the teaching of reading. Initially, she was baffled as to why a significant proportion of the children in her classes struggled to pick up basic reading skills. To Keda, they were just as bright as the other children but - for them - reading remained a mysteriously difficult skill. Keda always had a keen and inquisitive mind and this question of why some children had difficulties in learning to read nagged at her. She thought that she had somehow failed these students, so she made an offer to their parents. She asked their permission to teach their children at her home - without charge - at the end of the school day. As a result of this offer, Keda’s house was soon overflowing with struggling readers. Keda even designed an extension to her house to include a custom-built classroom and persuaded her doting husband Albert to build it. For the next 30 years, Keda’s house - literally, just a stone’s throw away from the school where she worked - was full of children. Between 4-5pm every school day she looked for ways to improve their reading skills. Keda's All-Consuming Passion At the time Keda began her research into children’s reading problems, few people had even heard of the term ‘dyslexia’. Keda became fascinated by the condition and her private research soon became an all-consuming obsession. She divided the children into two groups. A control group where conventional methods were used, and her ‘guinea pigs’, where Keda tried anything and everything to see what would work. This painstaking process of trial and error became the genesis of what later came to be known as Toe By Toe. Keda had no idea what was happening in the psychology departments of universities. She simply looked at the reading process and pared it down to the bare essentials necessary to crack the code of this ‘reading thing’. This is also why Toe By Toe is so refreshingly free of jargon and psychological gobbledygook. It certainly wasn’t a ‘quick fix’ process. Only after decades of this meticulous approach did Toe By Toe eventually become the fully functioning system we have now. Keda named the system ‘Toe By Toe’ after a grateful parent commented that she could see how it worked: “Progress by tiny steps – almost one toe at a time…”

Leeds Animation Workshop is a not-for-profit, cooperative company, run by women, which produces and distributes animated films and films on social and educational issues. The organisation began in 1976 as a group of women friends who came together to make a film about the need for pre-school childcare. After completing WHO NEEDS NURSERIES? - WE DO! the group was formally established in 1978 as Leeds Animation Workshop. Throughout its history the Workshop has been run by women, who have carried out all stages of the production process, from initial research to final distribution. The films are all produced in consultation with organisations and individuals involved in the relevant field. The Workshop specialises in making complex or sensitive issues more accessible to audiences, and at times offering an alternative point of view. As well as production and distribution, the Workshop has been involved in many other activities, such as organising screenings of films by women and black directors, and providing workshop sessions in basic animation for adults and young people.
