A group of ten like-minded dog owners got together and held an Inaugural meeting May 1985 when it was agreed that an application be submitted to the Kennel Club. Trent Park Dog Agility Club was born and it became the first ‘Agility only’ registered club. In the early days, ‘heavy’ homemade equipment was used – can anyone else remember the annual Paint and Repair days – not to mention the Dog Walk with extendable Tri-Pod legs? We were a group of enthusiastic dog owners who shared a passion for the fast-growing sport of Dog Agility and basically learnt as we went along. There were the usual hic-cups to be negotiated along the way but the Club went from strength to strength. An open evening was held in January 1986 with demonstrations and talks to attract new members. Trent Park Dog Agility Club held its’ first Agility Show at Picketts Lock Centre (before the cinema was built) on September 1986. It consisted of four classes: Starters Jumping and Agility + Novice Jumping and Agility. Entry fees were only £1.50 and class numbers averaged between 50 – 60. Our judges were Tony Veal and Yvonne Tate. Trent Park Dog Agility Club went on to hold an Annual Show until September 2013. The only exception being in 1997, when at short notice, the show was cancelled as it coincided with the funeral of Lady Diana, the Princess of Wales. A donation of £1,367.55 was sent to the memorial fund, being the balance of show entries received less requested refunds and disbursements. Club members also travelled to many local shows, usually in convoy, pre M25. In the early days, all clear rounds ran off at the end of the Class to produce the winner. Much has changed since then. We are now part of the Agility Club league. Currently, Trent Park Dog Agility Club has over 30 training members and a wonderful variety of dogs. We have replaced those old heavy pieces of equipment with up to date kit and aluminium contact gear. The arena’s rubber flooring has been replaced with a sandy substrate. Our members are enthusiastic, supportive and social. It is a great place to come and learn together.

Lisa Whittleton, Director I’ve had an interest in psychology and how we think, feel and behave since long before University, quite possibly shaped by personal experiences growing up with close family / friends affected by mental ill health. My first role after doing a master’s in occupational psychology (after a short stint in recruitment which was very much not for me) was working as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant with wounded, injured and sick service personnel to help them transition to a new career. This was totally inspiring and really opened my eyes to the stigmas that exist in workplaces around mental health and disability. I set up Illuminate in November 2013 as I was keen to influence this positively. At the time, we were not having the conversations we are now around mental health, so I recognise we have come a long way…but there is still a way to go to de-stigmatise completely and ensure we are being proactive around the topic so our teams can thrive at work. I love building relationships with our clients to really get to understand their world and the challenges within it to help bring about positive change. Working in this field is a constant reminder of how easy it is to slip into unhelpful habits in terms of looking after my own mental wellbeing and achieving the right ‘work-life’ balance. I do have to work hard to practice what I preach, and don’t always get it right. This is what makes my facilitation real and relatable for you. I invite you to take part in community events whilst discovering and benefiting from Qi Gong, Meditation, and Sound Healing As well as being good for your posture and breathing! Qi Gong is recognised as a form of preventative medicine and studies have shown that those who practice it experience less anxiety and better moods. There’s no age limit, there’s no right or wrong, there’s just a desire to take part and nourish yourself in a shared environment. Qigong embraces nature and reminds us of the rhythm of the seasons. Movement meditations are designed for the physical benefits of improving posture and breathing as well as exploring internal resistance. The philosophy of Qigong is that nature is our teacher. Each session or workshop explores how to release tension, embrace change and harness the energy of the cycle of Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. After a career in Music and the hospitality industry, I re-trained in 2010 in therapeutic sound in the community and then qualified as an instructor in Tai Chi Qi Gong. I continue to study with the Deyin institute in the practice of Tai Chi and Taoist philosophy. Having learned transcendental meditation back in the 80s, self-healing had always been of interest. Having also qualified as a masseuse I have a background in dance and a strong interest in anatomy. I continued to explore using meditation as a means of relaxation whilst incorporating sound healing and movement. My joy is working in community groups with a variety of workshops and sessions I traveled abroad in 2005 to work for a charity in Sarajevo with PTSD sufferers and took some training in this area. I felt drawn to finding ways to help people with trauma to relax and to give themselves time to heal and explore their own physical and emotional journeys. Part of finding a life balance is something we all want to explore. I found the best way for me was a mix of progression in learning as well as in giving and helping charities and worthy organisations. Here’s a list of my contributions. It’s a privilege and not always financially possible but the philosophy is that in giving we receive so it doesn’t always have to be by paying out in money.

My interest in wellbeing and weight loss was sparked in my early 30s when maintaining my weight was suddenly not quite as easy as it was in my 20s. Around the same time close family members were prescribed drugs for high blood pressure and cholesterol problems. I became interested in the concept of ‘eating yourself healthy’ and how lifestyle impacts a person’s health. This curiosity has never left and has evolved to include how we are choosing to age as we get older. #agingwithattitude In 2006 I trained as Pilates teacher and Personal Trainer, leaving the world of IT behind. While most of my clients successfully lost weight – usually men, a number did not – usually women. This was despite the women following exercise programmes and restricting their calorie intake. The “Eat Less and Exercise More” mantra was not working for everyone. I decided to determine the underlying cause by undertaking further training and research. I trained to become a Metabolic Effect Nutrition Consultant. This training is provided by a US company which combines holistic Medical Doctors and Personal Training qualifications. This course covered hormones and how they impacted the body and weight loss, for women in particular. Menofitness Training from Australia was next. It was a course about the Menopause and the health and fitness aspects for women as they get older. You can find a list of my qualifications here This combination of years of experience and courses has become my first book The Menopause Diaries I wrote it because I struggled to find any practical information on how to adapt to the changes that comes with the menopause. I cannot be the only person that is finding this challenge. Hopefully my book will help other women be as healthy as they can at this time in their life. coffe and cake I enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like coffee and cake at the weekend and rediscovered the joys of reading novels after purchasing a Kindle a few years ago. You can find some of my favourite health books here. While I don’t sit up reading in bed with a torch anymore (need to balance hormones with a good nights sleep!) I still enjoy a good book. Europe is one of my favourite destinations where I enjoy taking life a bit slower while enjoying good food and wine.

The IBBSS looks forward to giving our guests a warm welcome. The quality of the faculty virtually ensures a high-octane adventure for everyone involved. Located at University of Wales, Swansea, which overlooks the majestic panorama of Swansea Bay, all participants will be spoilt for choice both in the realm of music and holidaying options on offer. As in any learning situation, the bottom line rests with the quality of the faculty, and in this case, it is as good as it gets anywhere in the world. Each member of the faculty is internationally renowned, not only for their musical and performance expertise but also their social skills, a consequence of a regular diet of globe-trotting, performing and conducting master-classes to people of all ages and abilities. It was famously said of the Artistic Director, Dr. Nicholas Childs, that if he had played the cello rather than the euphonium, his name would have been Rostropovich. He is now perhaps more widely known as Artistic Director of the world-famous Black Dyke Band. Meanwhile, the instrumental tutors represent the cream of Britain’s incredibly talented core of brilliant instrumentalists: the incredible Tom Hutchinson from The Cory Band, Daniel Thomas, Richard Marshall and Brett Baker from Black Dyke, Freelance soloist Owen Farr and Gary Curtin from the Fodens Band. Under their expert tutelage you will be given the opportunity to explore new repertoire, meet new friends and generally have a fantastic time. For those applicants who possess an overwhelming desire to seriously improve their all-round playing skills and musical understanding, then, without doubt, they have chosen wisely, for the fixed intention is to provide them with a learning experience of a lifetime, whilst still allowing time and space for holiday fun. If the aim is to balance a general improvement in overall playing standards with making new like-minded friends, whilst enjoying a little more time in the sun amidst great surroundings, then look no further. In short, everyone enrolled in the summer course will be able to design a great banding holiday with precisely as much music making as is desired. The International Brass Band Summer School also caters for non-participating and non-residential visitors. For those who want to brush up on their brass band skills whilst their partners soak up the sun in a sublime environment, rest assured, this will resemble Christmas in the summer.

Definition of Lipo Surgery Body sculpting is a cosmetic surgery procedure, and is a body reshaping technique that works by selectively removing subdermal fat. It is one of the most commonly requested aesthetic procedures in the United Kingdom. The body typically stores fat unevenly. In women, fat is likely to accumulate disproportionately around the hips and thighs, and in men around the abdomen. However, some individuals can be adversely affected by the perceptions of others. This real cultural bias can have a cascade effect on professional success, as well as personal health and mental wellbeing.
