Federico Bruera was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Uruguay when he was nine years old. He is a guitarist and Cuban Tres player, guitar tutor, composer, lead performer, co-producer and radio presenter. Federico recorded and co-produced his first solo album Fuera del Surco in 2003 (released on iTunes 2009), in collaboration with members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo. In the previous year Federico collaborated with the Uruguayan artist Dúo Ba-Rock by releasing a song called ‘Sed De Rock’ for a compilation album.

Following a brief career in the military, Keith returned to studies completing a BA in Politics, Philosophy & History before moving on to work for 20 years in Telecommunications. During his career, Keith worked in various roles, including infrastructure design, operations and procurement. His personal struggles with anxiety and panic disorder resulted in bringing this career to an abrupt end. This experience of mental health in the workplace has led Keith to co-found Talk MH Training. His drive is to help employers and employees understand, recognise and effectively manage mental health in the workplace.

Juliet is also a trained mainstream teacher, receiving her BA(Hons) from Royal Central School Speech and Drama and PGCE from Cardiff University. I am a little bit older, with some more industry experience and I am currently running my own brand as well as tutoring for The Fashion School, and leading the Summer Fashion School. As I have studied Foundation, a BA and an MA courses at Ravensbourne and CSM, I have a lot of firsthand knowledge of the teaching styles and standard of work required at each level of education. I have a very fun youthful energy, and my work reflects themes of my own teen-hood and girlhood, with a strong influence on youth subculture. I love discussing my work and bouncing ideas of the teenagers to help them with their own projects, sharing music and laughing about current social media trends.

Following this she worked for Dalton Pottery in Dumfries & Galloway, assisting people to throw pots and helping with the production of their slipcast ceramics. Whilst traveling in Australia she worked for various potters making functional Pottery on the wheel. On return Lauren moved to Totnes in Devon to work as an Apprentice at Dartington Pottery. Here she gained in depth practical knowledge of pottery workshop practice . Lauren went on to work as Production Thrower for Dartington Pottery until she moved to North Devon to work as Ceramics technician and recreational Teacher at North Devon College. Whilst working at the College she also completed PCET Teacher training qualification. Since the birth of her first Daughter in 2008, Lauren has been mainly working as a mother, whilst also making pots and doing pencil Portraits. Lauren exhibited her porcelain vases as part of Spring Fling 2012, and has exhibited her Ceramics since at Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries. I followed my wonderful art foundation course at Colchester with a degree in ceramics at Birmingham Poly. I founded Dalton Pottery in 1989 with my late husband Geoff and we enjoyed over 25 happy years working together and raising two brilliant sons. They say that the only thing you can be sure of in life, is that it will keep changing. Some of those changes are very hard, and I have found the one thing that always gets me through those challenges is my creativity and the creative community. Chris and Lauren have built such a wonderful resource at Clayworks and I am proud to be part of the team. One of the most rewarding things about spending a lifetime understanding the medium of clay, is passing on those skills to those who are just discovering how meditative and rewarding it is to work with. On completion of his apprenticeship he went on to work for several potters around the UK before beginning to develop his own range of tableware in 2005. In 2006 Chris became potter in residence at the Beaford Arts Centre where he worked until its closure in 2013. In 2009 Chris began studying for an MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art graduating in 2011. It was during this period of study that Chris’ work evolved in to the heavily decorated and layered work seen today. In recent years Chris has won several awards for his work and exhibits across the UK in a variety of galleries and live events.In recent years Chris has worked as lecturer of Ceramics at Plymouth College of Art across the BA and MA programs. Following this Abbie set up a home studio in Sussex. Here she began to develop her own work, primarily working with slab building and throwing. Steph hated school and couldn’t wait to leave. After a number of jobs that she didn’t enjoy, she returned to further then higher education and (ironically) became a teacher. Steph taught in secondary and further education as a business and economics teacher amongst other subjects. She was then offered a role within Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Education Directorate managing the EOTAS (Education other than at school) service. A diversion from teaching to managing teachers and other support staff for 11 years, Steph decided to take the plunge and set up her own education company. Almost 5 years on, she runs a successful business employing over 100 staff. Having previously been a supply teacher, she understands the role and empathises with how overwhelming it can be for staff going into different schools sometimes on a daily basis. She is a totally hand’s on, fully supportive manager who will go out of her way to ensure all staff and schools are looked after. Jacob Blackmore OPERATIONS MANAGER Jacob originally joined the company in 2016, working as a part-time Teaching Assistant alongside his studies. In 2018, he graduated from University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Carmarthen, achieving BA (Hons) in Primary Education and gaining Qualified Teacher Status. Jacob continued to work for B.E.S.T in his new role as a Primary School Teacher. B.E.S.T allowed Jacob to complete his NQT induction and gain valuable experiences in a number of schools across Neath Port Talbot. Keen to apply his passion and knowledge of education, further develop his skill set and continue to contribute to the growth of the company, Jacob joined the office-based team at B.E.S.T as Operations Manager in January 2020. Jacob is also a keen sportsman, with a passion for rugby. He has played for many representative teams including Wales u16s, Ospreys u16s-18s and was captain of Neath Port Talbot College for the 2014/15 season. Jacob has also had previous WRU Championship and Premiership experience with Carmarthen Quins, Aberavon and is currently playing for Neath RFC.
