I find joy in craft and the handmade and I’m so lucky that I get to hand make my own products everyday. I live in Brighton where I grew up, I’m an avid tea drinker, a colour lover and I find happiness in being outdoors and in nature. Lume lighting is based in a small sunny studio at the bottom of Albert Mews in Brighton & Hove, UK. From here I hand make contemporary and traditional sewn lampshades using Lume’s own collection of printed fabrics and a range of luxury linens. Alongside my expertly designed lampshades, there are unique fairy lights and pendant lights to add interest and fun to your home. I am a skilled lampshade maker and have been expertly manufacturing lampshades since 2014. After adding contemporary drum lampshades to my range of homewares, I found a love for lampshades and decided to focus on lighting and rebranded my homewares business from ‘Joanna Corney’ to ‘Lume Lighting’ in 2018. Being a trained printed textile designer means that my lampshades are unique as they are made using my own exclusive screen and lino printed fabric. I am skilled in the traditional methods of soft lampshade making as well as hard backed contemporary styles, and offer a bespoke made to order and lampshade recovering service.

Our tutors are experienced crafters who share their passion and expertise with you in our fun workshops. The workshops vary in length from a few hours to a whole day and include all materials and refreshments. You'll take home everything you create, along with a set of notes, so you can try out your new skills at home. We have now gone ‘mobile’ so the workshops take place in a variety of community halls in and around Woking. Making your own clothes is about learning to be yourself: choosing your own fabric; fitting to your own unique body; expressing your own unique style. It's about breaking from the herd and a reliance on hi-street clothing that is often low quality and generic. Our mission at The Stitchery is to equip you with all the skills and resources you need to make well fitting, personalised garments. One of the primary ways we do this is through private one-to-one or small group tuition.
