We are a Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) village school housed largely
in traditional buildings in the picturesque village of Clifton, on the edge of
Ashbourne. Clifton is a fantastic school at the heart of the village, delivering
an excellent all round education. A positive climate for learning has been
developed. Behaviour around the school is excellent and attendance is high.
Lessons involve an effective pace of learning with good progress seen in all
subjects. The school continues to strive for excellence in all fields. Leading
with a vibrant, broad and balanced curriculum designed for the needs of our
children, we are totally committed to achievement of the highest levels of
attainment whilst maintaining breadth of experience through the taught
curriculum and beyond. This means that learning is often outside the classroom
and frequently takes place well away from school during carefully planned
educational visits. Sport plays a leading part in the life of the school and
despite its relatively small size the school's achievement across the range of
team games has brought it success at many levels.
