We are a government funded Community Interest Company (CIC) who are experts in sport and education. With a background of over 20 years in this sector, we are creating the next generation of sports professionals and leaders. Currently working in partnership with 70+ basketball, rugby and cricket clubs nationwide. Having worked hard to build relationships with the local Nottingham community, we have been able to provide high quality sports related qualifications, advice and mentorship. Helping Kids Achieve is about empowering young people, especially those aged between 5 and 17 with the skills needed to become leaders by building a better future for the next generation. With the help of a team of charities and organisations, we will be able to achieve this goal together. From humble beginnings, Helping Kids Achieve has been featured on Notts TV, The Nottingham Post, BBC Radio Nottingham, BBC East Midlands and even have won an award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year due to the work we provide for the community. We primarily operate in Bulwell, Bestwood and St. Anns, where we focus on sports, arts & crafts, music and dance to create a fun environment for everyone involved. Along with fellow directors John Newton, Niall O'Hagan, Marielle Newton & Pat Burgess we run Tiger Community Enterprise CIC. The community enterprise was set up to support enterprises and assist individuals and organisations to grow. Whilst we started with a focus on supporting local businesses and community organisations we have evolved to encompass the delivery of projects that support our core aims - to help people help themselves. We work in conjunction with partners to offer the widest range of options to the community to enhance their own skills and opportunities. Whether that be to build work skills to move down the career path, showcase talents and/or business, offer empowerment opportunities in the community to build confidence, communication, and contacts to avoid social isolation or to do our bit for the planet through our recycling project. I am fortunate enough to be the Principal of Homefield College and am delighted that you have found your way to our website to explore the many opportunities that the College provides to support people with learning difficulties and / or disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. Homefield College was founded in 1987 as a long-term residential provision for people with learning and communication difficulties. We have since expanded our offering with specialist further education and training, supporting both part-time and full-time day and residential students. The College now offers a range of individualised vocational education programmes based within local communities. All programmes are tailored to the needs of each individual with the starting point being that they feel safe in the environment that they are in. Once this is achieved it allows our staff to work with them to develop and improve their skills to enable them to live more independently once they leave the College. You will see on the website details of the activities that we provide which put together make up a study programme. Our education provision is based upon our belief that young people achieve through experience and this is reflected in the activities provided in our programmes. Students will undertake work experience and we hope that for some of them this will lead to a supported internship. Beyond the education provision, we also offer residential experiences for those who would like to further develop their independent living skills and this can often provide a period of respite for the student’s family. Homefield also provides a range of services for those who remain as part of our lifelong learning provision. These include: long-term residential care, supported work experiences, day services and community enterprises.
