The Fewer Things was founded in 2017 by Jaemi Lennon, after a trip to Japan in 2015, which changed the course of his life and was the catalyst to start teaching abroad himself, Jaemi spent 3 years abroad and then began building The Fewer Things. The main motivation for the The Fewer Things is to give easy access to the 'teaching abroad' life for everyone. We do this by working with well established education organisations, each school is vetted thoroughly in all locations as well working with the local authorities to assure all placements are legal and safe.

At Turpentyne we offer Term-Time Fine Art Drawing and Painting Courses as well as School Break Workshops for children and teens. Our beautiful boutique Art Supply Shop features a thoughtful selection of quality art and craft supplies. Our studio is located on Ashburton Road in West Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. Our unique shopfront space features creative spaces for our students as well as a carefully curated Art Supply Shop. Turpentyne’s courses are structured around the revolutionary concept that children are amazingly capable. They can learn to use art materials properly. They can see form and shadow. They can achieve much more artistically than many adults imagine!
Fabric scraps and mixed media create the foundations for my embroidery; hand dyed fabrics are used to create the textures and hand dyed threads are embroidered into my work to add definition using both machine and hand embroidery. The heart of my work is created from very small pieces that are joined together to create a rugged background texture, this represents how our lives are crammed with many things that we should bring together to enhance the quality of life.
