Working with clay, you will learn how to translate botanical forms into an expressive, abstract ceramic sculpture.
Based in East Sussex, I handcraft traditional and contemporary basketry using willow, rush and other natural materials. My training was at the City Lit in London (2011-2013), and I have a City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Creative Techniques in Textiles (Basketry). Influenced by the patterns, textures and tones that occur in nature, I enjoy exploring non-functional basketry with natural materials foraged near my home. As well as making baskets, I run basketweaving classes for beginners and improvers. I love passing on my passion for this ancient craft. My work has been exhibited in London, Surrey and Sussex.

Writing Our Legacy CIC is an arts and heritage organisation that enables Black, Asian and ethnically diverse/BPOC* people to tell their story through writing and the creative arts. We were established in 2012. We give writers and other creatives a platform and community to feel supported, nurtured and evolve their work through the creative pipeline, from start to publication. We share stories and heritage of diaspora communities and bring them to life through various art forms for audiences to learn and take part in cultural heritage
Design for me is a multi-sensory discipline that relies as much on the emotional response to a solution as it does the practical and aesthetic qualities. The relationship we have with the materials and the things that surround us is rooted deep within our culture. Their creation is not simply the logical last stage in a series of problems solved. It should, I believe, seek to align the traditional values of craftsmanship and quality with the benefits of modern technology.
Our next Open Morning will be on Friday 27th January 2023, but you are more than welcome to book a visit at any time. We welcome enquiries from families across the UK and internationally. When visiting the school is not an option we will arrange online meetings with the Head or Registrar to discuss your particular needs and guide you through the admissions process. Admissions assessments are largely conducted online so there is no bar to applications from families who are not locally based. Most of our pupils will start at the beginning of an academic year, in September, but where requested we will do our utmost to facilitate a mid year transfer.
Our pre-teen course is specifically tailored for students aged between 8 and 12 years of age. The course combines lively English lessons with a packed social programme of afternoon activities and weekend excursions. A wonderful supportive summer course for any pre-teen wanting to study in the UK.

Since Signature became an independent organisation in 1982 to promote and teach British Sign Language (BSL), we have supported more than 480,000 people to learn British Sign Language. We have also had thousands of other learners who have completed other deaf communication qualifications with us. We create qualifications that provide our learners with the skills they need to build successful careers.
