Brushstrokes Courses provides art instruction and courses, building creative confidence in a variety of artistic skills, from drawing to painting. Students are given individual support and taught best practices while remaining encouraged to explore their own artistic identity. Founded in 2020 by qualified art teacher Laura Truesdale, Brushstrokes has already helped over 100 artists learn the skills to create their masterpiece. Each Brushstrokes course is designed to accommodate, grow, and challenge artists at every level. Beginners will enjoy Laura’s encouragement and fun teaching style. Intermediate students will be challenged to push themselves. Established artists will find new inspiration or engage with novel mediums to round their craft. Each week’s lessons build on the week prior, creating habits and artistic tools that will stick for life. Free from institutional restraints, Brushstrokes puts student wellbeing back at the heart of the classes. Laura draws on her background in social work, PGCE training, and over a decade of teaching experience to ensure students are supported. If you want to learn the history of art, the context of a piece of work, build your creative confidence, develop technical skill, brush up on your existing skills, or be inspired, then Brushstrokes Courses is for you. Laura gained her BA in Art from the University of Reading in 2013 and went onto to achieve her PGCE in Secondary School Art Teaching in 2016. Since receiving Qualified Teacher Status in 2017, she has taught in the local community, before establishing Brushstrokes Courses in January 2020.

An important step forward came in August 1998, when the company became an approved Provider for Apprenticeships. Since that day, Didac is now at the pinnacle of training provision within the furniture, wood and merchanting sectors, with funding flexibities, opportunities and accreditations. Initially providing services to CNC machine users, Didac has expanded to offer a wide range of training and consultancy services and pride themselves on keeping abreast of the latest requirements and opportunities presented in the world of learning. Experienced team Their roots within this sector run deep. Jon Gibson, Didac’s Managing Director, was himself an apprentice working within the industry, before becoming a lecturer at Brunel College in Bristol from 1989-1995. Commercial Director Martin James was an undergraduate trainee with G Plan Furniture becoming a Chartered Engineer, before moving into CNC router machine manufacture. SOPHIE RAE IS A MURAL ARTIST WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN BRISTOL, LONDON + THE SOUTH WEST SPECIALISING IN BOLD, COLOURFUL, BOTANICAL, ABSTRACT DESIGNS Sophie Rae loves gliding a paintbrush across a smooth surface, transforming bland grey walls into beautiful works of art. It is truly where she gets in the flow. She loves working on walls outside and in, large scale murals as well as smaller ones. She’s painted murals in gardens, cafes, bars, restaurants, offices, schools, shop and high street facades and hoardings, to name a few. Drawing inspiration from plants (glorious plants) and enlarging, and playing with abstraction until a sweet balanced composition emerges. As well as mural painting Sophie creates beautiful prints, lovingly handcrafted, without using a press. Shapes are sketched and refined, then cut by hand with a craft knife into stencils. A roller then applies ink in the gaps. This helps give each print its irregularities. If you’re after learning from Sophie Rae she can be found sharing her unique printing technique, inspiring and igniting creativity through (fairly) regularly teaching workshops.
