Bronze is contemporary and yet has strong echoes deep within our evolutionary past. The casting of bronze is a raw and elemental process that can be achieved around a campfire with beeswax and clay or in sophisticated foundries using high tech furnaces and technical materials. At the heart of the process is the transformative slight of hand, like fossilisation where one object becomes another under the influence of extreme heat. Organic materials or wax are replaced by bronze in the casting process, via a combination of intention, earth and fire. Finishing and colouring bronze is equally transformative, raw metal through the crude exposure to the weather, seawater or sophisticated of chemical sequences and heat comes to life with rich, lustrous and intense colours. NEW WORKS I love the physicality of sculpture both of the process and the materials. Before setting up my bronze foundry in 2015 I trained and practiced as a ceramic artist. Working wax, is a visceral process; how I feel in the act of creation and my responses to the emerging piece dictate the outcome. I suspend conscious engagement and hold the sense of where something is going for as long as possible without interpretation. I believe that a work of art can offer a mirror to the soul for both the maker and the observer. How we respond to a work tells us something about ourselves. For this reason I am encouraged to explore new areas of work and challenge the viewer to consider their response to all types of work, paying attention to what they like as much as well as what they find uncomfortable.

Cookery school leader Brett Connor delivers a warm welcome and hands on experience. He brings with him a wealth of experience from highly rated Michelin star and AA rosette restaurants and hotels. We will be delivering a wide range of courses from bread, pasta and pastries to dinner parties and perfect Christmas dinners. We are very easy to get to, sitting in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon and very close proximity to the Cotswolds. Our cookery school is also available as a chefs table where our chefs will cook our michelin star food in front of your eyes. We will also be hosting guest chef events where we invite some of the best chefs in the country to come and cook their menu in our cookery school. We bring people together to re-imagine our relationships with technology through dialogue and arts. We live in a world where machines increasingly collect information about us, reducing our bodies and the things around us to streams of data. In turn the digital realm can feel abstract, and out of our control. The stuff of computers and digital infrastructure is often hidden out of sight and huge power imbalances exist around who is making technology and who benefits from it. Yet the impact of our interactions with machines and technologies are very much rooted in the body, materials, and emotions. Through workshops, discussions, installations and screenings Control Shift brings creative and critical approaches to technology. Control Shift 2020 was curated by Becca Rose, Martha King and Rod Dickinson, and you can visit the archive to find out more about the programme. In 2019 we produced ‘You Make the Rules’ which was part of Processing Community Day (a global celebration of ‘art, code and diversity’ initiated by the Processing Foundation). If you looking to try out some pottery classes here in Dorset, why not begin your journey now and start creating pieces yourself. Here at Cedar Pottery, I will guide you through the various techniques in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Hand building, throwing on the wheel, sculpturing can all be tried. Glazing can be fun too and I will help you to understand this interesting part of the art of pottery. You are more than welcome to visit the studio to find out more about the environment you will be working in, the classes available and have a chat about what you want to achieve. There are six places per pottery course meaning we can tailor the classes to suit you, your level of skill and your creativity! It doesn’t matter how much potting experience you have – total beginner or happy hobby potter. I can offer one-to-one time to tutor each individual, and so the making schedule can be flexible. I am a thrower, but can also tutor in hand building and sculpture work and will take you through the various techniques needed to throw good pots. Currently I have two electric wheels. We run 2 hour taster courses, 1/2 day and one-day courses and for those who want to really develop their skill, then we have a 8 week intensive course.

As a traditional goldsmith with over 20 years of experience, Jasmin’s passion for jewellery design never faded. In Jasmin´s words: As a child I always wanted to become a true renaissance man or, in my case, woman. I dreamed of being a painter, sculptor and innovator living a life solving the mysteries of the world like Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo. So I became a goldsmith, learning the ancient art of working with precious metals and intriguing gemstones. During my years in the jewellery business I had the wonderful opportunity to work with renowned jewellery artists, like Wendy Ramshaw, Jacqueline Mina and others to design high-end collections and to make jewellery in every metal I could possibly lay my hands on (palladium and niobium are still amongst my favourites). Ultimately, I discovered my passion for teaching. Through my association with one of the most prestigious jewellery schools in the world (GIA) I have inspired hundreds of students in such far-flung locations as Thailand, Italy and California. With my many classes, I have combined the intricacies of jewellery design with the elements of technology, using the latest CAD/CAM developments, whilst sharing both my joy and undiminished affection for an industry that I have been involved with for all my working life. Today, I still do what I love. I run my own jewellery business, Jaqc Jewellery and Jaqc Jewellery Academy, offer design consultancy, and illustrate jewellery for a variety of companies. red brick glass

In 2000 after graduating with a 1st class degree in glass from Edinburgh College of Art Wendy moved into her first glass studio, a small red brick outbuilding in her home in Dorset. Wendy then received the prestigious Crafts Council Start Up Award to purchase equipment to start Red Brick Glass (the glass kiln is still going strong 20 years on!) Wendy worked as an architectural glass artist, collaborating with interior designers and architects to create large-scale glass installations and made small glass work to sell in galleries and shops. After a few years Wendy launched her website (with a new-fangled online shop) and started to run fused glass making workshops. 4 years ago Wendy moved into her new home and studio, a gorgeous barn conversion in the beautiful village of West Lulworth, Dorset. This was a dream come true as Wendy always wanted to live within walking distance from the sea. She still doesn’t take it for granted and walks to get her dose of sea air most days. Red Brick Glass continues to grow and develop. Wendy designed the make at home kits during lockdown 2020 as she couldn’t run workshops and due to their success she now needs a little help in the studio to keep up with orders. Vicki is the brilliant new studio assistant and Wendy’s teenage daughters help out at weekends and holidays (filling up colourful glass pots is the favourite job). We are very grateful to Red Brick Glass customers who have supported us over the years. We are excited for the future and hope you will follow us on our journey.

Littleover Taekwon-Do is a family orientated Taekwon-Do club which took up it’s independent status in 2007. We teach ITF Chang Hon style Taekwon-Do and we are part of Authentic Taekwon-Do England. Authentic England is registered with International Chang-Hon Taekwon-Do Federation (ICTF). We are also registered with the British Martial Arts & Boxing Association. We follow a set grading structure that allows steady progression through the art up to black belt level and beyond. The Instructors See our instructors page The syllabus See our syllabus page. Costs We are not a business and try as much as possible to keep training costs to a minimum. Family groups are encouraged to attend. Our current fees can be seen here. We collect payment monthly, in advance, via bank transfer. We ask students to commit to the full month. This helps us manage the class size cost effectively, and regular attendance is essential to making progress. Some fees (e.g. grading fees) are collected via Spond. Sparring equipment is essential for protection when you start sparring. Students are permitted to spar after successfully passing their first grading. See our equipment list for more information. We strongly recommend purchasing gear from Academy Sports in Derby. When you visit Academy Sports please let them know you are attending Littleover Taekwon-Do so they know to provide the appropriate gear. We don’t receive any commission. If sparring kit is purchased from elsewhere we can’t guarantee it will be acceptable for use within LTKD. Please check with us first. Doboks (the white suits we train in) are ordered via your instructor.
