Royal Institute of Art Stockholm

royal institute of art stockholm

Sedan ett antal år tillbaka erbjuder Kungl. Konsthögskolan möjlighet att bedriva såväl individuella forskningsprojekt som samarbetsprojekt. We offer an unparalleled combination of artistic breadth and excellence, with programs in the Fine Arts at both the basic and advanced levels . Our freestanding courses at the advanced level are aimed at both professional artists and architects, as well as those who work within culture and the humanities. In addition, we are also a research institution. As a cultural institution, we also offer a public program with exhibitions, seminars and workshops that are open to everyone. Development with a Historical Connection The Royal Institute of Art is a place that enables art and learning. We experiment and take artistic risks in pursuit of growth. Professional artists teach fine art here—from print-making, painting and sculpture to video, sound, photography, interactive techniques, performance and critical studies. Our campus is located on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. The combination buildings with a clear historical connection and modern workshops creates a dynamic environment for students, researchers and staff. Here, artistic heritage is preserved while new techniques and methods in the field are constantly being developed. The art made here relates to the past as well as to the search for new ways of redefinition. The Royal Institute of Art is characterized in a similar way, both by its tradition and ongoing renewal. The Art of Continuous Development The students’ artistic work is at the center of all learning. Through a collaborative process of thoughtful reflection, various forms of artistic expressions are heightened and enhanced by coming into contact with each other. A vast range of different aesthetics, attitudes and approaches are accommodated amongst our 230 students. Our education and research utilize and form a joint field of knowledge in constant evolution. The desire for experimentation and critical discussion pushes independent artistic development forward. By creating new forms of developing and testing different modes of artistic expression against one another, our employees, researchers and students create the conditions for lifelong learning.

Enterprise Squad

London

After the purchase of a 1958 Pontiac hearse for $250, Enterprise Rescue Squad answered its first call in 1963. Seven members of the community trained in American Red Cross First Aid volunteered to staff the fledgling service which was headquartered on Main Street by Glover Avenue. Over time the service grew and acquired new ambulances and better equipment. In 1981 Dr. Andy Kirk put together the Service’s first structured Emergency Medical curriculum and “attendants” became EMT’s providing much better care for the community. As our ranks grew, we began to see the need for a new facility. In 1994 after much fund raising and hard work, Enterprise Rescue moved to our current location at 205 W. Lee Street. Our station includes a dayroom, kitchen, communications room, sleeping quarters, and a bay that houses 4 ambulances and a service lift. As the City of Enterprise grew and the demand for Emergency Medical Services increased, it became obvious that the change from volunteer to paid service was neccesary. In 1997 Enterprise Rescue Squad became Enterprise Rescue, Inc. Now with almost 20 years as a paid system, Enterprise Rescue has over 40 employees and 7 ambulances. We currently average over 11000 calls a year and operate three 24/7 ambulances and one day ambulance in Enterprise as well as one 24/7 ambulance and one day ambulance in Elba. With the addition of a separate administration and training building at 519 E. Lee Street, Enterprise Rescue has become a regional training facility for various programs and agencies. We hold over 100 classes a year ranging from basic first aid and CPR to critical care and specialty courses for advanced medical providers. Enterprise Rescue strives to provide the very best medical care for our coverage area. We are constantly finding ways to improve the quality of our services. From the newest state-of-the-art medical equipment and vehicles to ongoing training in the latest developments in emergency medicine, we will continue to serve our community with professionalism and pride.

2010 Taekwondo

2010 taekwondo

We practice WTF Taekwondo which is represented in the Olympics. Class is taught by Instructor Matt Stein who trained under GrandMaster Fred Lee in the 1970's in London and GrandMaster Dung LeVan from 1980-90's in Bristol. Students from as young as 5 can start their training. The classes are mixed in terms of age and grade with adults training alongside children. The club is run on simple principles both old and new. The five tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable Spirit are taught. Matt's approach is serious but not overly strict. The focus remains on technique and practical application of self-defence. It is intended that through repetitive training, the skills and techniques required to defend oneself will be learned. The addition of competition sparring sharpens the reactions and helps to refine technical skills. Not all students want to fight so in this modern era of martial arts they too are accommodated. There are many aspects of martial arts and not all are about fighting. Some students come to boost self-esteem and confidence. This can be achieved simply by participating and refining technical skills. One-step sparring and patterns are a good way to learn this. The Self-defence class has now closed and in it's place is the new Taekwondo Games class. This class is essentially for the younger students to channel their energy into a branch of the art form. The class will consist of an essential warm up of muscles and joints, followed by technical punches, blocks and kicking. This will lead onto a series of fun and lightly competitive games, some solo, others in groups. Light sparring can be done by those who want to. Congratulations to Rowan, Logan and Ava who all reached 3rd Dan grades in April 2022. They have all been shining stars throughout their training and now help in teaching too. They have become wonderful ambassadors to the club.

Liverpool Law Society

Liverpool

Liverpool Law Society boasts 2500 or so members in practice; it is one of the largest local Law Societies in England and Wales. Membership is broad and varies from practitioners engaged in high-value commercial work to complex charity work. The Society prides itself in being at the forefront of debate and has been able to communicate on behalf of its members their concerns in a number of areas both public and professional, and at regional and national levels. The directors meet twice a year with local MPs where there is exchange of information, news about bills going through parliament and constituent issues are raised and discussed and parliamentary questions are put down on behalf of LLS members. Separately, the directors also meet with the nominated councillors from the Liverpool City Region local authorities. This again is a useful way of ensuring our members’ concerns and issues, including those of their clients, can be raised at one of these meetings. The councillors also come to the Society with matters their constituents are facing and we work together on joint initiatives where there is a common aim. The Society also has good communication channels with The Law Society, the SRA and the LeO, where members’ issues can be raised and matters affecting the legal profession discussed. On a regional level, Liverpool Law Society is a member of the Joint V, a grouping of autonomous local law societies that meet and discuss common issues affecting membership organisations for legal professionals, sharing best practice. The members of the Joint V are Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester Law Societies. United the Joint V have a strong voice nationally, representing over 10,000 legal professionals. In addition to our representation role, Liverpool Law Society runs an extensive legal training programme with approximately 100 seminars and conferences organised every year in various specialist areas of law. I BELIEVE IN YOU In addition to the services offered for Wyss Training, Marcel & Patric are also involved in youth work at the Mittelland training base, where the two lead road and rail training for the next generation. In order to be able to take part in competitions with these athletes, the TSP Mittelland needs additional support. A crowdfunding campaign was set up on I Believe In You. Share this link or support the youth work yourself. https://ibiy.net/tspmittelland Fabienne Buri sets a Swiss record in the individual pursuit at the track World Cup. Text by Swiss Cycling: Fabienne Buri was able to confirm her progress in the individual pursuit. The Emmental native lowered the Swiss record from 2003 by two-time Olympic time trial winner Karin Thürig over the distance of 3000 meters by a good three tenths to 3:33.242 minutes; the performance brought her 13th place. At the beginning of the season, she set herself the goal of improving the record, the 23-year-old from Oberburg announced. "Today my pacing was great and I'm just happy that I made it." Image: frontal vision Tim Rey shines with top international results Within two weeks, Tim achieved 5th place in the points race at the Track World Championships and 10th place at the renowned Junior Tour GP Rüebliland, two top results. After his corona illness at the end of June, which is why he also missed the European Championships on Track, his trainer Marcel Wyss trained with Tim for a week in Lenzerheide with a view to these upcoming competitions. These great successes confirm that it was right and important to start training again slowly and in a controlled manner after the illness. For such a young athlete, this requires a lot of patience. Now Tim is traveling to Australia for the Road World Championships! Tim in the points race at the track world championships. Image: Claudia Rey

Clifton Learning Partnership

clifton learning partnership

Rotherham

The Clifton Learning Partnership is a Company Limited by guarantee with no share capital (Company No. 7566749) and a Registered Charity (Charity registration No. 1142675). Both were incorporated in 2011. The Company and Charity has evolved from over twelve years of work with the Clifton Learning Community of schools initially as an Education Action Zone, with, in addition, a multi-disciplinary Behaviour Improvement Programme Team, which included roles such as Community Development Tutor, Family Learning Tutor, and Mental Health Practitioner. As the political climate changed in 2010 the key stakeholders at the time; the Head Teachers from the nine schools with whom the EAZ worked, requested that the prudently managed funds from the time of the EAZ be invested into the local community in the most sustainable way possible, in order to help and develop the local community to be stronger, more resilient and to have equality of opportunity. They recognised our ability to work with key agencies outside the education structures to provide additionality for families and children beyond the school gates. In 2011 the Clifton Learning Partnership charity was formed. We are intensely proud of our ability to change, grow and develop; responding to a rapidly changing political climate; and continuing to address the presenting need in a form that is most appropriate. We have always been innovative and taken opportunities. Our practice as an EAZ was celebrated nationally, and it was at this time that we developed our highly successful EAZMAG, which we now sell nationally, with all profits coming to Clifton Learning Partnership.

The Flowhesion Foundation Research Centre for BAMER Research

Bolton

Imam Abdul Hafeez Siddique is the Founder and CEO of The Flowhesion Foundation. He is an experienced, qualified Muslim Chaplain who studied at a traditional Islamic seminary in Bolton. Abdul graduated from the seminary at the age of 17 making him, at the point of qualification, one of the youngest Imam’s in Britain. Post qualification, he serves as a Muslim Chaplain at HMP Wymott where he works as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-faith team. Abdul has a strong academic background in community cohesion and social capital research. After completing his undergraduate degree in this field, he was awarded a postgraduate scholarship by the Mariott Trust. Subsequently this led him to become the first person in the Northwest to look in to how members of the South-Asian Muslim community in Bolton interpreted the terminology and lexicology surrounding community cohesion. He asked these difficult questions to marginalised members of the bamer community. The research allowed Abdul to undertake an in-depth theoretical study of the evolution of the concept: community cohesion and his in-depth qualitative interviews formed the basis of his study that was supervised by Professor Carole Truman and Dr Margaret Boneham at the University of Bolton. This seminal study came to fruition in the form of a thesis submitted for the degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) titled ‘A critical analysis of Cantle’s (2001) community cohesion model and its applicability to marginalised elements of Bolton’s south-asian Muslim Community’ that was awarded to him in 2011. In addition, Abdul has over 10 years experience working with socially excluded immigrant BAME communities and their representatives in Bolton to promote community cohesion and build social capital.
