We plan to bring together all groups and individuals in Sandwich who are interested in the late medieval period who wish to contribute to the living history of Sandwich.We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, a CIO, formed in 2018 with the objective registered with the Charity Commission: To advance education for the public benefit on matters to do with the late medieval period, ie approx. 1330 to 1480 with a special focus on the heritage of Sandwich Town, Kent, in particular but not exclusively by providing a maritime and land based crafts “living museum”. Aims We plan to bring together all groups and individuals in Sandwich who are interested in the late medieval period who wish to contribute to the living history of Sandwich. The base for our activities is the wooden boatyard building on the slipway by the Quay, the Sandwich Medieval Centre. A special focus is engaging with young people. In addition to the centre being an historically interesting visitor centre, it will also be the base for educating and mentoring juniors in medieval crafts and skills to ensure that the rich history of Sandwich in this period is not lost to future generations. At Challenge Dyslexia we understand first hand the difficulties and frustrations parents of a dyslexic child face when navigating the educational process. The method of teaching utilised at Challenge Dyslexia follows the ‘Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme’ (DALP) This programme is highly effective and successful in providing targeted specific dyslexia tuition and is delivered in 1-1/ small groups. Lessons are formulated based on the findings of an evaluation carried out within the initial placement sessions. The lessons follow a tailored structured plan of learning points which are delivered through a combination of exercises, activities and games which aim to build and reinforce each learning point. Our aim at Challenge Dyslexia is to engage students by making learning fun with all sessions designed to promote relational learning. The lessons follow a learner led cumulative approach, which is built upon session by session. Due to the negative experiences some students may have previously experienced within the classroom, a major element built into the construct of the lessons is the promotion of learner independence, self efficacy and self confidence, which aim to increase motivation and attitude to learning. In addition to being dyslexia specialists we also have experience and training in a range of therapeutic interventions, so are qualified to address and help break down barriers to learning from this perspective.

The original architect of this interesting and scenic 18 hole parkland course, Tom Williamson, left a supreme legacy at Stanton, demonstrating how golf and nature can blend harmoniously. The course has an enviable reputation of being in excellent condition throughout the year and in addition has some of the purest greens in the county. As you approach the Club, on the left of the main drive you will find the driving range, a newly developed chipping and bunker play area and of course a practice putting green. Just the ticket to hone your skills prior to starting your round. Arranged in a double loop, the par 73 course offers a mix of tricky par threes, some long par fours which can test even the longer hitter and interestingly finishes with two par fives. The tree lined tight fairways reward accurate shots and punish those off line. This coupled with strategically placed bunkers and some elevated tight greens make this a true test of golf for players of all abilities. The first nine holes offers the chance to build a good score offering a number of birdie opportunities - if you play accurate iron shots to the greens. However the back nine can soon claw back birdies made, with holes 13 to 18 always proving a good test particularly in the prevailing wind.
