Fahrenheit 451 is said to be the temperature at which paper catches fire and burns. The book is a powerful story of one man's struggle with his conscience as he performs his job - burning books. Guy Montag is a fireman - tasked with finding and destroying books which are forbidden, and killing those who preserve and read books. This classic novel is, with Orwell's '1984' and Huxley's 'Brave New World', a powerful critique of aspects of Western civilization, media and politics. Ray Bradbury's powerful and poetic writing still has the power to make us think and reflect on our freedoms.
