The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (RQF) is intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of assessment without any requirement to practice as assessors. This qualification would be chosen if the learner only requires the knowledge of assessing but is not in a position to assess live learners. This unit when completed can be used towards other assessing qualifications in the future.
Learners will achieve 6 credits across 1 unit:
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Duration:Typically, distance learning students complete this course within a few weeks although students are able to take up to 12 months to complete the qualification. Extension options are available if required.
Delivery MethodsThis qualification is completed by distance learning with full tutor support provided. Your tutor will arrange an introduction call once enrolled.
We are able to offer classroom or remote delivery for in-house courses.
AssessmentsTo show sufficient understanding of all learning objectives, learners are assessed through a written assignment. (Approx. 3500 words, broken down into smaller questions).
Pre-requisites
Learners must be aged 19+ years to be enrolled onto this course. If enrolling to this course as an individual, you must be working or have access to a training or teaching environment as you are required to carry out assessment in a live environment as part of the qualification.
Please note: course materials are provided in English and the practical assessment must be completed in English.
Who should do this course?This qualification is designed to provide the knowledge and understanding of assessment to those who need it, but have no need to actively practice as an assessor, or have no access to live learners to assess.
CertificateA certificate is provided upon successful completion, following internal and external quality assurance.
You should complete the qualification within 12 months. Deadlines for submission of specific work can be agreed with your tutor.

If you have already completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, you may qualify for RPL meaning the first unit of this qualification may not be required.
If you choose to upgrade this qualification in the future, you may also be able to use it towards further achievement.
