As the world transitions towards a more sustainable energy future, green hydrogen has emerged as a promising solution with numerous applications and environmental benefits. However, the successful deployment of green hydrogen projects relies heavily on robust financial strategies and a deep understanding of the associated investment opportunities and challenges.
Throughout this VILT course, participants will delve into the intricate details of financing green hydrogen projects, going beyond the basics. Participants will learn to apply financial modelling techniques to assess project feasibility, build robust financial models, and navigate risk management strategies specific to the green hydrogen industry.
In addition, participants will explore the various stages of project development, from feasibility studies and site selection to financing options and regulatory frameworks. Participants will gain insights into structuring financing agreements, understanding offtake agreements, power purchase agreements and leveraging government policies and incentives.
Participants will be provided the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the financial landscape of green hydrogen projects, equipped with real-world skills to make informed decisions, assess investment opportunities, mitigate risks, and contribute to the transition towards a sustainable, hydrogen-based economy.
This course will be delivered via VILT over 5-half day sessions, comprising of 4 hours per day. Course Duration: 20 hours in total, 20 CPD points. This course can also be delivered through classroom training for 3 consecutive days.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Master the technical details of financing green hydrogen projects, going beyond basic understanding.
Apply financial modeling techniques to assess project feasibility and build robust financial models for green hydrogen initiatives.
Navigate risk management strategies specific to green hydrogen projects, mitigating challenges like technological uncertainties and fluctuating energy prices.
Structure financing agreements with confidence, understanding different financing options, offtake agreements, and power purchase agreements within the context of green hydrogen.
Analyse regulatory frameworks and leverage government policies, incentives, and regulations impacting green hydrogen financing.
Develop practical skills through hands-on exercises, case studies, and potentially even simulations, preparing them for real-world green hydrogen finance scenarios.

A comprehensive material for reference will be provided and ensure clear learning objectives are established for each topic. Various interactive digital activities, including quizzes and videos, will enhance engagement. Participants are encouraged to engage in self-study and may opt to present practical challenges from their work for discussion. A concluding test or quiz will be assessed for understanding. Participants are encouraged to turn on the camera throughout the learning session.
TRAINER
Your expert instructor is a highly accomplished professional with over 15 years of expertise in investment appraisal in the energy industry. She currently serves as the Department Head of Specialised Petrochemicals & Fertilizers Investment and Business Development at a leading petrochemical company in Egypt. Throughout her career, she has been deeply involved in assessing investments in the oil and gas downstream industry, particularly in the production of hydrogen within the refining and ammonia sectors. In her current role, she oversees the investment appraisal process, conducts risk analysis, engages with stakeholders, prepares reports, manages departmental budgets, and sets performance targets. She stays updated on industry trends, conducts market research, and identifies potential investment opportunities. Previously, she served as the Department Head for Low Carbon Hydrogen & PetroChemicals Project Development. In this role, she led a team responsible for managing the green and blue hydrogen and chemicals project planning process, defining project scopes, developing schedules, and creating budgets.
Your expert instructor`s expertise extends globally, as she delivers comprehensive courses on green hydrogen pricing and investment to industry experts. She has extensive experience as a trainer in international courses, including the Green Hydrogen Monetization and Finance Simulation course offered by a UK-based academy and the Energy Transition Economics course offered by a US-based academy. Her educational background, including an MBA with a double major in Strategic Management and Financial Management, further enhances her business acumen.
Her expertise has resulted in her recognition as a speaker at several international conferences and events. She has participated in the Argus Clean Ammonia Conference in Antwerp, Belgium, and her expertise was featured at the World Hydrogen Finance & Investment virtual event in September 2023. She has presented research papers at various events, including the World Hydrogen Conference, the “Integration of Green Hydrogen and Downstream Petrochemicals Industry” conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the ERTC European Refining and Petrochemicals Conference in Athens, Greece, and the EGYPS “Egypt Petroleum Show” in Cairo, Egypt.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University, where she graduated with honours as the top-ranked student, showcasing her dedication to academic excellence and holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Ain Shams University and has served as an adjunct teacher in the Cairo Engineering Faculty, specialising in Energy Economics. She further pursued a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree, with her doctoral research focusing on the socioeconomic and environmental aspects impacting the deployment of green hydrogen. Through her studies, she aims to contribute to the understanding of the various factors that influence the successful implementation of this sustainable energy solution.
