The Site management safety training scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R) course is for delegates who have previously passed the full Site management safety training scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course, and can provide a valid current certificate.
It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up-to-date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous five-day course programme. Delivered interactively, the course includes group and individual exercises, discussions and projects.
Certification for this course is valid for 5 years.
The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the five-day Site managers safety training scheme (SMSTS) course, or a previous refresher and can provide proof of a valid certificate.
If a delegate cannot provide a copy of their certificate, the online card checker can be used to establish if a delegate currently holds a valid SMSTS certificate. The delegate must have a good knowledge of written and spoken English at site management level. Photographic ID and the delegates national insurance number must be provided on the first day of the course.
Personal details including CITB Registration number (where applicable), name, home address, date of birth, National Insurance number, telephone and email address.

Assessment will be by an end of course exam paper. Delegates are expected to participate during the course. This is a two-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course (15 hours) in the correct order to be eligible for certification.
