We run Longtown Outdoor Centre in the Brecon Beacons and HerefordshireSince 1964 Longtown Outdoor Centre has been providing schools and youth groups with adventurous activity breaks from our 16 acre site on the Herefordshire and Monmouthshire border. Off-site activities including Caving, Hill Walking, Rock Climbing and Gorge walking take place in the nearby Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Our 16 acre site is made up of gardens, farmland and woodland with spectacular views over surrounding hills and mountains. Our range of onsite activities include Archery, Rock Climbing Tower, Kayak training pool, Stand up Paddleboarding, Raft building, Low Ropes Course, High Ropes Course plus an internal traverse wall

North Yorkshire Youth is a charity that dates back to 1941. Lady Crathorne, who was a prominent youth worker in the years leading up to World War 2 founded the North Riding Association of Youth Clubs and used the grounds at the family home, Crathorne Hall to put on activities, mainly for young girls. Lady Crathonre remained closely connected to the charity for many years and was President up until her death in 1965. We have had numerous presidents since but we are immensely proud to have her son, Lord Crathorne as our current president, and long may the family connections remain. Since 1941 we have been called The North Roding Association of Youth Clubs, North Yorkshire Youth Association (Circa 1974), Youth Clubs North Yorkshire (Circa 1987) and are now known as North Yorkshire Youth (Circa 2006) Through our history we have helped 1,000’s of young people realise their potential. Be that through youth clubs, bespoke programmes, volunteering and experiencing the outdoors at Carlton Lodge. It was 1970 when we were given Carlton Lodge to provide space and a place for young people. The then Director worked with young people to develop the site . We had the honour of being officially opened on 6th July 1971 by HRH Princess Margaret and the site has been continually improved since then. The Bunkhouse arrived in 1983, the Stables were converted in 1992 and the Sports building was completed in 1998. We have added Outside facilities in 2006 along with our amazing High Ropes Course and the last major capital investment was our Boat House in 2013. Rockworks was established by artists, designers and committed climbers in the late 1980’s and our continuing passion has been to provide products and facilities that would inspire the next generation of climbers. The company has since designed and installed climbing walls to many of the largest climbing facilities in the U.K. including dedicated climbing centres with over 1000m2 of indoor climbing and the UK’s largest outdoor boulder parks. The company is a founder member of the Climbing Wall Manufacturers Association (C.W.M.A.), established to ensure the highest standards in safety and to contribute to the development of the C.E.N. standards which affect the industry. Years of climbing, design and manufacturing experience underlie the services we provide from initial planning and consultancy through to site installation. Our specialist team of highly trained operatives have a real commitment to providing first class products to all our customers. The management team at Rockworks have extensive experience in the successful delivery of a wide range of specialist projects both within the UK and also Internationally.
