This in-person workshop on Waves is led by Christina Astin, Coach for Physics Partners and hosted by School of Science and Technology Maidstone. Refreshments and the opportunity to network from 3.45pm.
In this session we will look at how to describe - and define - waves, including how to teach the wave equation. We will use some demonstrations and practicals to explore refraction (including the GCSE required practical) and use the idea of dispersion to link into the electromagnetic spectrum topic. There will be an opportunity to learn how to use the ripple tank and supplement this with the use of online simulations.
As always, the session will provide a balance of subject knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge.
These sessions are for physics teachers, particularly non-specialists, early career teachers and teacher trainees. Technicians are also welcome to attend.
This CPD session is fully-funded and delivered by Physics Partners and forms part of the Maidstone Physics Hub series of twilight sessions generously supported by the Colyer-Fergusson Charitable Trust.
