Birmingham

We are dedicated to creating the skilled engineering workforce of tomorrow. Operating from our campuses in Doncaster and Birmingham, NCATI is part of the University of Birmingham Group, and is led by a team with strong links with both industry and education. This ensures that the skills we teach are ones that employers in the transport and infrastructure sectors need. To deliver the major infrastructure programmes and rail modernisation initiatives planned across the UK, the engineering workforce needs a greater number of talented people, with a different blend of skills, and from more diverse backgrounds. Our mission as an organisation is to produce a new generation of highly skilled professionals from a range of communities, changing what the rail industry looks like with new segments of the UK joining Britain’s rail, transport, and infrastructure workforce. Accessible from levels 3 to 6, our curriculum offer is for ages 16 and above, and includes part-time and full-time courses, as well as apprenticeships. One of our values at the college is pioneering excellence, and we strive to achieve this by utilising the best technology and facilities available – with over £9 million of specialist kit and equipment donated to us by our employer partners. Industry collaboration is integral to our success, and NCATI has benefitted significantly from engaging with leading sector employers like HS2, Honeywell, and Alstom. Our network supports us by offering apprenticeships, work placements, mentoring and site visits. We also have guest lecturers that come into the college and teach learners about the latest innovations in the industry. Our learners are at the heart of everything we do. That is why we have created a supportive learning environment with smaller class sizes and personalised one-to-one mentoring, allowing every individual to thrive and achieve their personal and professional goals.

East Belfast Yacht Club

east belfast yacht club

London

East Belfast Yacht Club was founded by workers from the Belfast Shipyards in 1904, and has enjoyed both the high and the low years through its existence. From the high points through the 1920s/30s/40s and '50s when the Club hosted many sailing races and entertained the owners and masters of the massive J-Class yachts down to the more plentiful and massively supported Belfast Lough one designs through to the Flying Fifteens and Dragons and others of the various periods. The Club was previously situated at the head of Belfast Lough near the now defunct oil refinery on the South shore but has been based on the present site in Sydenham Embayment between The Belfast City Airport and Victoria Park since 1939. More recent activities have been more towards the Cruising side of Yachting with boats being built and refurbished at our base at Sydenham Embayment and used to cruise the Inland Loughs, the Irish Sea, The Med' and indeed through Europe and across to the America's. We have become established as the main non professional producer and knowledge base for boats built from Ferro-cement in Ireland, and have had visitors from many countries in Europe who wished to avail of our knowledge on the subject. A past Member and his good lady were the first to introduce the method to Sydenham around 1970 and through a system of trial and error and the study of other builders down through the years we have had boats built by our members using just about every method known. Current build numbers are somewhere in the 30s, some of which have been own designs and some modifications of existing designs.

Decluttering to Get Organised With an extensive background in Interior Design and Contemporary Art logistics and installations I have a great eye for detail and plenty of solutions for organisation, styling and storage. I aim to create freedom from things and functionality in spaces that have ceased to fulfil potential. This extends to archiving materials such as photographs and documents; decluttering and packing in preparation for a move; unpacking and dressing a new space. My clients may aspire to a goal such as home decluttering with the view to redecorate afterwards. I really enjoy being part of this fresh start and so we can get stuck into the painting and finishing touches together. In the case of a commercial space, this is something I can organise as a service. I have an initial consultation with new clients to assess the job and needs and wants, and then I’ll go away and devise a plan of action. Once you are happy with the plan the exciting new journey begins. Clients may have suffered a bereavement and find it challenging to go through the emotional process of letting go. Other clients may have a tendency towards collecting, or hoarding, and find it challenging to let go due to the relationship between the items and memories. I manage this in my own life and so I have many techniques and fresh ways of re-looking at your objects and what they represent in your life. I will be sensitive and patient. Objects often unlock memories that you need to take the time to process before you let go and I understand that. We are working together towards success in your long-term goals Professional organising and one-to-one coaching are my passions Many clients choose one-to-one coaching. We spend time together focusing specifically on personal goals and ways of achieving them. With most of my clients I aim to introduce movement and light exercise, new hobbies (I teach calligraphy, digital photography, arts and crafts, writing and poetry, easy to follow dance workouts…), dealing with triggers and developing coping mechanisms (relating to conditions such as anxiety), building confidence, tackling difficult social situations and practical advice on areas such as overcoming anxiety before an exam, e.g. driving, job interview techniques, and managing stress. Don’t worry about the light exercise – it is all feel-good factor and nothing to do with training or learning routines. We are going to have fun together. I will make a programme tailored to you and you will be amazed where you can be in four weeks, three months, six months, a year... I have personal experience with PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder and depression. I know these conditions change your life, but they don’t have to limit it. Please do consult your doctor before making changes to your lifestyle. I always follow their advice and medical judgement. If you have any issues with mobility or certain environments (crowded places, loud noises etc.) please do let me know.

Janome UK

JANOME Corporation, popularly known as Janome, (pronounced: Ja – No -Mey), has been synonymous with quality sewing machines for over a century. In 1936, the company acquired its first mass production factory for sewing machines, starting out in Japan and now also with manufacturing plants in Thailand and Taiwan. Janome are proud of being the No.1 sewing machine manufacturer in the world and export products to more than 100 countries worldwide. Japanese entrepreneur Yosaku Ose founded the PINE sewing machine factory on October 16, 1921. He took the conventional oblong ‘shuttle-type’ bobbin and replaced it with a round bobbin. The innovative design improved efficiency and speed of the traditional sewing machine significantly. The new bobbin soon gained ground, and users affectionately called it Janome meaning ‘the Snake’s eye’ in Japanese. The name stuck, eventually becoming an official trademark JANOME in 1935 and formally adopted as the company name Janome Sewing Machine Co., Ltd., in 1954, changing to JANOME Corporation in October 2021 at its 100th Anniversary. Established October 1st, 1968 Janome UK Ltd. started to trade in 1969 as New Home Sewing Machine Co Ltd. As part of the globalisation of the Janome Group, it changed its name to Janome UK Ltd. in the mid 1990’s. Janome is now the brand leader in the UK with an extensive range of sewing machines and overlockers. Janome sewing machines are designed for ease of use to encourage all levels of sewing. Renowned for quality & reliability at affordable prices Janome’s aim is to provide customers with an unrivalled level of service. The Janome Training School in Stockport, offering Masterclass sewing courses, is testament to their commitment to customer service and support. Since the earliest days of founding Janome products have been at the cutting edge of sewing technology.
