The Raynor Massage is a therapeutic technique developed by Brandon Raynor, an Australian trained Naturopath. Some of the techniques used in Raynor Massage originated from Eastern practices of massage, such as Shiatsu, Ayurvedic massage, Thai massage, Lomi Lomi, and Yoga breathing techniques. Raynor Massage is a unique method of massage specifically focusing on finding and eliminating residual tension being held in the body. Brandon Raynor developed the technique based on over twenty years practicing massage and studying many different techniques used throughout the world. He has developed a method of teaching massage that enables students to learn quickly, focusing on the goal, which is always finding and totally releasing all residual tension located throughout the body. Underlying these physical manifestations of the bands are subtle energy systems similar to Sen lines in Thai Massage, Meridians in Chinese Medicine, or Nadis in Ayurvedic Massage. Knowledge and techniques gleaned from these ancient modalities were then combined and evolved to form the Raynor Band Theory. While Raynor Massage Bands may overlap with some of these eastern practices, their distinguishing feature is they can be physically traced and seen within the body. Our bodies hang onto tension in our muscles for a variety of reasons; poor posture, stress from home or work, injuries, exercise and/or sports training, hunching over a computer and other things as well. This tension is held in our muscle tissue and eventually results in residual muscle tension and pain. Raynor Massage is not anything like an ordinary massage, although it does involve certain adjustments, stretches and techniques that have been developed over the years. Residual tension is something that exists in someone’s body even when their body is at rest, like when they are lying on the massage table. If the client has an area where there is muscle tightness when they are not even using that muscle, this is residual tension. The goal of Raynor Massage is to completely rid the body of this. The definition of “relax” is to “return to a state of looseness”. “Re” is defined “to bring back” and “lax” means “loose”. Thus, Raynor Massage is a modality of deep and relaxing massage. Another vital aspect of Raynor Massage is accepting that residual tension can be caused by emotional, mental or stress related issues. The fundamental philosophy of Raynor Massage is based on the theory of Eastern Medicine. The physical tension in the body is the culmination of various energies, emotions and of a life force, which is called chi or prana. If there is a disruption or blockage, which impedes the flow of chi or prana, the result will be an area of muscle tightness, and the bones in the skeletal structure may be forced out of alignment.

For over 2 decades I’ve been supporting my clients in their health and wellbeing through various forms of massage and healing. I offer effective treatments in my clinic and stimulating education in the classroom. Leaving my past life as a graphic designer, I went back to college and studied Aromatherapy. Fast forward many years and experiences, I have gone on to train in Abdominal Therapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, Thai Yoga Massage and On-Site Acupressure Chair Massage (Amma Massage). Constantly striving to improve my skills has lead me to various exotic places, from the Thai jungle, rainforests of Central America, throughout North America, and then the rolling hills in Surrey, UK. I first learned about Abdominal Therapy in 2004, after a chance meeting with Dr. Rosita Arvigo, whilst on holiday in Belize, Central America. This inspired me to seek Abdominal Therapy when I returned home to the UK. Driven by personal health issues, I received regular treatments which supported and reframed my attitude to my own pelvic health. Abdominal Therapy not only transformed my health, but also my outlook on life. Years later, and after working with hundreds of clients, I now teach Abdominal Therapy, running workshops at personal and professional level, both in person and online specialising in the art of gaining and maintaining abdominal health. I run Abdominal workshops for those who seek a deeper understanding and healing from digestive or pelvic issues, and train professional therapists in the art of Abdominal Therapy within The Abdominal Therapy Collective. I was a graphic designer for 15 years, immersed in the discipline of explaining concepts, products and events in a way that was easy to understand and visually striking, I bring these qualities to my teaching, always seeking simple and effective ways to explain healing concepts and methods to my students. I have created a beautiful haven for healing and learning in my home in leafy Twickenham, South West London, UK. Offering treatments at the top of my home in my cocoon-like therapy room, and a fun and engaging workshop space at the bottom, in my kitchen and garden studio. In my own life I have had to face many challenges, find my own strength and rely on my inner resources. This is why I became a counsellor, I qualified in 1998 and later achieved my registered/accredited status with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Personal counselling helped me accept myself and gain a better understanding. It has also made me much more resilient in dealing with whatever issues life threw at me. Now, I help others to find their own strength and sense of self through counselling and more recently, poetry therapy. We are all unique and follow our own paths towards change. I know you can change, if that’s what you desire. Having a confidential space, where someone listens to you attentively, and in a non -judgemental manner is the first step. Together, we can explore the sensitive issues which you would prefer to put to the back of your mind, but which keeping nagging at you. I have been on this journey myself, and for over twenty years I have worked in various capacities with people from all walks of life and have seen great results. I am one of a handful of Certified Poetry Therapists in the U.K, who have completed their training with the International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy in U.S.A.I trained under the mentor ship and supervision of Victoria Field.
