I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to take up the mantle of Headteacher at Tewkesbury School. When I first visited the school and the town back in 2021, I was struck by the community feel, the passion for the town and the dedication of the staff team for all the young people. I distinctly remember the pride with which the student guides spoke of the school and of their community and the ambition the team at Tewkesbury School had for every student. This will be my second Headship in the South West and my 20th year in education and I am excited to guide Tewkesbury School through its next phase. Headteachers are custodians of schools on behalf of young people and it will be my privilege to work with the whole community from governors, parents, students, colleagues and primary colleagues to other partners in the town, county and region to make sure Tewkesbury School is strong, effective and serving our children to the best of its ability. The greatest successes come from working together towards a common cause and there is no better cause than the education of the next generations. I am keenly ambitious about our future as a school so will continue the drive towards the highest standards academically and behaviourally whilst still ensuring we remain an inclusive school serving the Tewkesbury community. The educational landscape is shifting and changing at a national, regional and local level yet, despite that, there is nothing more important than making sure our young people are well prepared to step out into the world with confidence and understanding as a result of great teaching and a broad range of experiences. TechyTots was established at the beginning of 2017 in response to a gap in the market by mum of two Gemma Murray. Having family members working in this field and after researching the benefits of teaching children coding Gemma was keen to introduce her own children to coding and quickly realized there was nothing available in the early years to develop such skills. It was quickly apparent that there was high demand for TechyTots with lots of schools asking to run sessions and with family sessions being popular. In just over a year the level of supply and demand was so high for TechyTots, the opportunity for the business to grow was clear. TechyTots is now a national franchise providing classes from Tyneside to London. Now run by Gemma’s Cousin Julie Barber, TechyTots has gone from strength to strength. Julie has been a franchisees with TechyTots since 2018, and has a unique perspective as a business leader, she has faced the challenges of a franchisee and devolved a successful franchise with multiple classes running well in her area. Julie now has the opportunity to develop TechyTots and make sure more children are able to be part of TechyTots and learn important Coding skills. TechyTots is the first class in the uk to bring together technology and play to introduce children to coding. Our aim is to work on the first steps of coding with children at a young age to help prepare them for the technical world we now live in whilst making it fun. 'Coding' for those who do not already know is simply a set of instructions for a computer or device. At TechyTots we encourage children to develop early coding skills by using robots and the most advanced ‘Techy’ toys available. We also use unplugged play and activities which encourage problem solving skills, critical thinking, sequencing, early math skills and early programming, which are not only educational but lots of fun too!

Krystal Roney-Smith APRN, MSN FNP Master Trainer, Owner Krystal Roney-Smith, M.S.N., RN, FNP-C, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas School of Nursing at Tyler in 2004, and received a Master of Science in Nursing, graduating as a Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society member from Prairie View A&M University School of Nursing in Houston in 2015. She has been drawn to healthcare since childhood and became a nurse because she loved taking care of people. After 11 years of being a nurse in women’s services, Krystal decided she wanted to have a closer interaction with the community and earned a Master of Science in Nursing and became a nurse practitioner at Memorial Hermann Health System. It was after one year of working as a Family Nurse Practitioner she decided that she wanted to take a step further and started teaching as a professor at Chamberlain University. She was then trained by a board-certified plastic surgeon and learned aesthetics. Medical Aesthetics Education was developed after she encountered so many healthcare professionals struggling to get into the industry. She wanted to bridge the gap with her knowledge and injecting expertise. Also, she wanted to empower new injectors to get better at their skill with a mentorship program, which is not offered after most training courses. Krystal enjoys working as a nurse practitioner injector and training others to become the best. She is a perfectionist when it comes to her clients getting the best results. She considers her skills a form of artistry to enhance natural beauty. Krystal states that the biggest advantage of her role is the instant gratification, she takes pride in the boost of confidence that her clients receive. Recently, she has successfully launched her own full-scale spa, Lush RX, located in the Greater Area of Houston, Texas. She is excited to share her knowledge and help others become their best selves and possible entrepreneurs.

A sophisticated society cannot teach everything it knows to everyone. It has to reach consensus on what are the fundamentally important things which all should know, and what can belong to later specialist teaching. There has to be a selection and the beliefs and values of the society will set the agenda. A secular society will inevitably make choices and promote knowledge according to its current understanding of what its people require to be successful and its definition of ‘success’ will change according to circumstances. However, a successful secular education will produce a generation with a secular way of looking at the world. A Christian society endeavours to live according to its understanding of what God requires. Its definition of success is primarily related to how far it is able to live according to those high standards. Its idea of a successful education will be one which produces young people with a Christian worldview. A Christian School is one which starts history with creation and man’s responsibility for what went wrong; one whose mandate is from Philippians 4:8: “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;…think on these things;” one which celebrates learning, promotes understanding, and encourages wisdom, not merely the application of little-understood formulae to new situations. Christian Education should provide a whole package for the whole person and lead to success academically, spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and even economically. It should result in people who are able to contribute in works of service to the church and to the world. They should be able to spread the gospel and take their place in church and civil life. It should produce fully educated leaders, people who can think originally and creatively and be able to stand up for God’s kingdom in a corrupted world.

Emma Decent is based in the north west of England and has been writing and performing for over 15 years. Emma’s latest project is I Don’t Know What I’m Supposed To Be Doing, a new autobiographical show about herself and her mother. Her first solo show was Beyond Dreams of Aberystwyth was developed in 2013 with support from the Arts Council of England. The Show toured since 2013 and the story also unfolds as an Online Book which you can read in full as 20 Chapters on this website. Emma’s Poetry & Spoken Word includes raw, funny and vibrant performance poetry and prose. She has appeared at open mics all over the country and been guest poet at events in Manchester, Preston, Wakefield and beyond. She was chuffed to have her first ever slam win at the famous Uptown Poetry Slam at the Green Mill, Chicago in 2010. In Spring 2014 Emma qualified in Preparing to Teach in the Life-Long Learning Sector. She delivers workshops in performance and creative life-writing to accompany her shows where she encourages others to tell their stories. Emma also writes freelance journalism from time to time, and writes a Blog here, where she (occasionally) documents her on-going creative journey. Previous work includes Magic Words, a popular spoken word night Emma ran and hosted in Todmorden in 2012. In the 1990’s Emma was a lively participant on Manchester’s queer theatre and cabaret scene, and was co-writer and producer of Manchester’s fondly remembered queer pantos Snow White and the 7 Dubious Stereotypes and Little Red 30-Something and Her Queer Adventures in Wonderland at the Green Room in 2002 & 2004.
