STEP BY STEP’s mission is to help break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations by providing equal access to education for adults from marginalized communities. As inequality rises, improving social mobility is incredibly important. Despite the political focus on helping people from disadvantaged backgrounds,there’s been little progress in social mobility in recent years and deep-seated regional inequalities still exist. As a result, social mobility in the UK is among the lowest in the developed world. It means people born into low-income families, regardless of their talent or hard work, don’t have the same opportunities as those born into privileged families. We believe that everyone should be able to achieve their full potential, no matter what their background is and Adult skills are a critical and often overlooked area. We’re here to accelerate the representation of adult learners in UK Universities and Colleges while obtaining vocational and academic skills to empower the UK to compete in the global economy.

Responding to demand from the corporate world, we have built a curriculum and teaching methodology to address business-specific communication needs. Our format is based on the fundamentals of competitive debating and our facilitators are experts in their field. We provide our training in four key formats, which can be found on the next page. Debate Mate works with our charitable programme Debate Mate Schools to deliver its programmes. Debate Mate Schools is an educational charity that uses the brightest university students to run after-school debate clubs in areas of high child poverty across the world. Over the last nine years, we have successfully taught over 25,000 young people to debate in the UK, USA, Jamaica, Nepal, Dubai, Doha, Mexico, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, China, Japan, Korea and Israel.

Sannithy (full name is Sri Selva Sannithy) is a sacred temple for the Hindu God Murugan in Thondaimanaru in the Northern province of Sri Lanka. The word Sannithy also has another meaning which is "a place where God resides." The person who built the temple is Maruthar Kathirhamar. Illam means place, so the name Sannithy Maruthar Kathirhamar Illam is a place to worship God and remember the founder of the temple. The main purpose of Sannithy Maruthar Kathirhamar Illam is to promote education and religion along with Bhajan singing, Yoga, Classical dance (Bharatha Natyam), Carnatic Music, Veena, Violin, Miruthangam, Tabla & Flute. We also support those struck by poverty through the supply of food packages and using kind donations to help them through financial hardship.

Ursuline High School, Wimbledon is a voluntary-aided, comprehensive high school for Roman Catholic girls from 11-18. Under the Trusteeship of the Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark. St Angela Merici Feast Day: 27 January. The school has moved through several phases during its history... The Ursulines were founded by St Angela Merici who lived in Italy in the 16th century. St Angela was born around 1475 in Desenzano on the shores of Lake Garda in Northern Italy. She was left an orphan in early life and spent several of her early years at Salo with her uncle. She acted as an advisor to the rich and influential and was known for her ability to reconcile those with differences. She was a ready helper of the poor and needy and she took a foremost place in what was very much a man's world. She moved to Brescia - the scene of her main work and where she eventually founded her company. On the 25th November 1535 St Angela founded the company of St Ursula, putting the company under the patronage of this early English saint, who was popular in the middle ages as the Patroness of learning. This was a particularly appropriate choice, as it reflected her concerns for the development and fulfilment of women. Her companions lived in their own homes but were consecrated to a life of poverty and virginity. After St Angela's death in 1540 her company became involved in evangelisation especially through education. Many branches of St Angela's company flourished and spread. There are many ways in which St Angela had a lasting effect on the company she founded and on the Church. Like St Paul she made herself all things to all people for the sake of the Gospel to bring all people to Christ. In her writings there is a great emphasis on prayer and all through her life St Angela was known as a woman of prayer. She also made a clear stand against the luxury of the world around her. She emphasized true poverty of spirit and trust in God alone. St Angela was also an educator in the widest sense of the word and in particular in the Christian context of leading people to find Christ in the circumstances of their lives.

Sohbet is a Turkish word and means ‘to talk, converse, discuss and engage with one another in a friendly, caring, warm and informal manner’. In our context, we use the word sohbet to mean to converse with one another in a study or discussion circle on the big questions of God, purpose, meaning, faith, religion, and society. Through Sohbet Society, we provide opportunity for religious learning and spiritual growth and development for Muslims in Britain. We achieve this through a series of activities including study groups, mentoring, outreach, retreats, excursions and social action. Religious and spiritual learning is achieved through semi-structured study groups as well as practical experiences such as social action and retreats. In all, we aim to offer a friendly, positive and constructive form of authentic religious expression and an environment for genuine spiritual experience that speaks both to the mind and heart, to the personal and social needs of the individual. We believe this nurtures a religious understanding and spiritual mindset that emphasises peaceful social relations and respect for human diversity and dignity. Sohbet Society is an active component of Hizmet, an Islamically inspired social movement that focuses on education, dialogue, and disaster and poverty relief work. It originated in Turkey in the 1970s based on the teachings and scholarship of Fethullah Gülen, an Islamic scholar and peace advocate. Today, Hizmet is active in over 160 countries worldwide. Like other social movements Hizmet includes formalised entities and organisations, but is largely based on informal networks and practices. The Sohbet Society is now formalising Hizmet’s pre-existing informal grass-roots religious activism in the UK in order to achieve greater visibility, transparency, professionalism, and structure so that we may be able to diversify the people who benefit from our services and to further develop our projects and services.

NGI focuses on the skills development, capacity building, empowerment and the creation of networking opportunities, so as to enable people to participate in their communities as independent, mature and responsible individuals. This translates into three main service areas namely, Training, Consultancy and Community Development. The organisation has an inherent interest in partnering like-minded organisations, albeit local, regional, national or international, to realise this objective in an effective way. We are a volunteer led work with very few staff, but this does not mean we are a small organization. We can see as many as 300 people a day, looking for our assistance. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. We recognize the true strength of our volunteers. And we recognize the value of everybody coming through our doors. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future. Today, The Whitechapel Mission is a results-oriented organization that is recognized as one of London's most effective. Our Purpose The Whitechapel Mission is called to serve the men and women caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness and dependencies of many kinds, and to see their lives transformed to hope, joy and lasting productivity. We love Leamington Spa in the UK, and we love being part of a fantastic church community that is really seeking to make a difference. The church has a rich history upon which we are building for future generations. The church building, formerly known as St. Michael’s, was built around 1900 and was the chapel to a girl’s reformatory school. During the 1930s, many families in Leamington Spa were becoming Christians, and so a Pentecostal movement bought the building, using it for regular church services. The church, now called Life Community Church, became part of a network of Pentecostal churches called the AoG (Assemblies of God), which is made up of around 600 churches in Great Britain, and is the sixth largest denomination worldwide. In 2012, there was a leadership transition and David and Leanne Bolton felt the call of God to lead the church and start an exciting journey of repurposing it. Their dream today, like those in the past, is to see many more families in Leamington Spa and across the globe, coming to faith in Jesus. Today, we are a growing, life-giving church for all ages and backgrounds, and God is drawing people to us from all nationalities. LCC exists to help people grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether people arrive with no faith and are exploring Christianity for the first time, or have been Christians for many years, there is a place for everyone. We believe that Jesus came to give people LIFE and that is what this church is all about. Our vision is to be a thriving "Glocal" (global/ local) community of people who KNOW GOD, GROW TOGETHER and GO! MAKE A DIFFERENCE (or KNOW - GROW - GO!) Our future is bright and full of purpose.
