We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ellen Marsden as our new
director of the Dorset Rural Music School. A former pupil of Chetham’s School of
Music, Ellen graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama as an
Oboist, playing professionally for many years in leading orchestras in the UK
and abroad; she was Principal Oboe of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville
for five years, latterly becoming Principal Cor Anglais in the Bournemouth
Symphony Orchestra where she remained for nine years. In 2009, Ellen was
appointed Director of Music at Sherborne Preparatory School, she later
progressed to become a freelance Creative Project Manager and Producer
developing large scale Schools and Community projects in the South West. Ellen
has been living in North Dorset since 2000 and knows the county and its musical
scene well. We are delighted to have secured her services and are confident that
she will lead DRMS forward into an exciting future without losing sight of our
original aims and ethos.
