At Siobhan Davies Studios we believe in the power of dance for artistic and social change. We connect artists, neighbours and audiences through investigative, collaborative and creative activities at our studios and beyond. Artist and female-led since we were founded, Siobhan Davies Studios has been part of the contemporary dance landscape since the 1980s. Our studios are a place to play, question and experiment and we bring this spirit into all areas of our work. In the last five years, shaped by leadership changes, we have renewed focus on bringing marginalised voices to the fore to evolve a broader community of artists, participants, audiences and workers. We engage the public through classes, performances and co-created participatory activities prioritising engagement with local communities. From 2020, increased budgets in access support for artists and audiences aim to break the status quo of privilege surpassing inclusion. Current local partnerships include working with neighbouring Charlotte Sharman primary school, and charities Su Mano Amiga and Good Chance Theatre. Our award-winning public arts building is in the diverse and densely populated area of Elephant and Castle. The Feminist Library is a large archive collection of feminist literature, particularly Women’s Liberation Movement materials dating from the late 1960s to the 1990s. We support research, activist and community projects in this field. The Library is also an autonomous feminist community space. The Library is trans-inclusive, welcomes visitors of any gender, does not require registration or membership, and provides an intersectional, non-sectarian space for the exploration of feminism. Passionate about transforming young lives Seb’s Foundation was established in 2016 to foster hope and inclusion, by using the power and positivity of sport and education to remove barriers and enable young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to fulfil their ambitions and flourish. By providing scholarships, rugby training programmes, as well as workshops to develop mental health and self-esteem to young people who wouldn’t usually have access to them, our aspiration is to see them develop and thrive. Our aim is to provide opportunities, open new horizons and nurture aspirations that would otherwise have been closed to them and beyond their reach. Child poverty in the UK There were 4.3 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2019/20* In a classroom of 30 children, 9 were living in poverty** Children are the group of the population most likely to be in poverty*** Child poverty has been rising in both absolute and relative terms for nearly a decade*** Children in poverty have to fight harder for their futures. It has serious implications for their academic attainment, their social networks and their mental health. Our work is rooted in investing in those futures.

OUR MISSION Our mission is to welcome visitors to our farm free of charge, and run evidence-based programmes that have a significant positive impact on both visitors and volunteers in the community. “ If it wasn’t for the farm I don’t know where I’d be now. I’m so grateful for everything they did for me. — Lily, a former volunteer WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED Volunteers c. 66 volunteers in 2016 – including people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and difficulties dealing with loss and isolation. As a result of volunteering at the farm: MENTAL HEALTH: 96% feel less worried and anxious PHYSICAL HEALTH: 89% feel physically more fit EMPLOYMENT: 71% developed their career Visitors c. 40,000 visitors in 2016 – including parents of young children, people with mental health issues/learning disabilities and people who feel disconnected from nature and their community. As a result of visiting the farm: MENTAL HEALTH: 88% feel less worried and anxious INCLUSION: 92% feel a bigger part of the community EDUCATION: 82% know more about animals and looking after them
