new park village football development
Wolverhampton
New Park Village Football Development aka NPV Football Development was birthed
out of conflict. In the mid to late 1990’s, it was commonplace to see police
blue and white tapes tied around lamp posts as a way of cordoning off areas
where a shooting or a stabbing had taken place. Two of these such neighbourhoods
were New Park Village and Heath Town, two areas in the north/ east of
Wolverhampton that were blighted by gang violence. The two areas like many
others in the city bared the typical markers that characterized these
neighbourhoods as spaces where rival gangs fought for territory over the
distribution of drugs and other criminal activities.
