The Alamiyah School stems from a project which began in 2005 with a determined group of home-schooling parents who were eager to create a positive learning environment for their children; one that would foster not only a love of knowledge but give the children a moral framework and nurture each child’s unique genius. The project was subsequently joined by a group of educational professionals and evolved into the Alamiyah Pre-school. We registered as an independent school (Alamiyah School) in 2017 allowing us to cater for school age pupils. The school now caters for pupils of age 3-11 years till the end of the primary age range. The Alamiyah School is inspired by the Prophetic Tradition and will use a curriculum infused with the prophetic stories, arts and sciences. The Montessori approach to early years is the framework upon which the school is based, thus creating an educational experience based on ancient wisdoms and modern discoveries. The Montessori approach creates an environment that offers each child the opportunity to express and develop their individuality and their innate need to learn. It is based on the natural laws of human development (fitra) confirmed by scientific advances and is therefore perfectly in line with a prophetic model for education. The curriculum is child centered, encourages independence and fosters empathy and compassion. The project is lead by an enthusiastic group of teachers trained in the Montessori approach, with many years experience with young children. Our teachers are professionals in their field and have a deeply rooted interest in education. My journey into the world of speech and language therapy came at a time when I needed help in developing my daughter’s speech & language skills. Whilst we worked with the NHS, who did the best they could with the resources available, it became apparent that she would need more for her to progress. I felt it was up to me to open up her world further to encourage and develop her comprehension and expressive language. As a parent when your child is non – traditionally speaking it is difficult to understand how to help them and this can be extremely frustrating. Working with my daughter has inspired me to help other parents and children in similar circumstances. Using my skills as a professional and a mother I am able to empower parents/caregivers on the best way they can help their children. Being a proud mum to my autistic daughter has taught me so much but mostly understanding that as parents it is our responsibility to ensure that our children develop the necessary life skills to become young confident people and in doing so a big part of this is being able to recognise when ‘you’ as a parent need help to ensure all their needs are fully met. As a Speech & Language Associate Practitioner I currently run a Speech and Language clinic (Happy Chatters Speech & Language) in Northwest London. I work with children within the early years settings and specialise in working with children on the Autism Spectrum. I am fortunate to work alongside highly professional Speech & Language therapists to ensure a holistic approach in delivering personalised models.

Oaks Childcare is registered with Ofsted and has been operating since October 2010. We have been recently inspected by ofsted and we were very happy to receive an outstanding report. We are a child minding service which provides full day care for children from three months old. We also offer after school and holiday care. We run our service in the ground floor of our home which is located close to central Croydon and well served by public transport links. We will be registered to care for up to eight children two of which can be under the age of one year. The down stairs of our home is solely used for childcare purposes. We are open from seven thirty to six o'clock, Monday to Friday and one Saturday in three. We will be following the current Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which is a curriculum from birth to five.
