Kate Marsden, b. 1978, lives in South London. She is a West Sussex born/London based artist, with a background in Fashion & Textile Design and Surface Pattern Design. Her mixed media paintings, drawings and prints are the result of many years of experimentation alongside her more graphic, illustrative design based work. Kate paints everyday items and objects, and is increasingly inspired by the natural world and the abstraction of it. A desire to alter the viewer’s perception of her subject matter has long been her desired outcome, whether this be via the subversion of a traditional subject, or the beautification of something considered to be ugly or undesirable. Kate’s work can be seen in private collections as well as commercial commissions including at the refurbished South London arts centre, Fairfield Halls. Her fabric designs have graced a wide range products and have featured in both national and international press.

Our focus is on reusing, recycling and upcycling existing garments. We hold workshops around London, encouraging participants to mend their favourite items of clothing instead of disposing them into landfill. Our workshops aim to introduce ways of mending clothing through various textile methods in order to fix, deconstruct or customise to revive much loved pieces. We aim to inspire people to learn new, invaluable skills and reconnect with textile techniques, encouraging creativity and mindfulness when it comes to your wardrobe. All of our workshops are available for special events and large group bookings - visit our PRIVATE EVENTS section to request a private booking. All of our workshops come with free tea, coffee and cake (including vegan options!) Here at RESTORATION LONDON we encourage mending your clothing and therefore offer a 10% discount to those bringing in their own item of clothing to either fix or use as fabric during the workshop.

The FMG Project is a Brighton-based community project funded by the Friday Media Group Foundation. In 2021, The Foundation acquired and renovated the facility, formerly known as ‘The Basement’, in the heart of Brighton’s famous North Laine. Our kick-off project is a gym facility that will host our new academy programme, whilst also supporting local sports clubs and other educational groups and charities. The venue also has other facilities such as business offices and space for events, meet ups and more! Friday Media Group is a Sussex-based digital publishing business, born off the back of the success of The Friday-Ad newspaper. The Kidger family started the business back in 1975 and established the Foundation to put something back into the community from which it was born. The family are passionate about fitness, education and local business- hence the creation of The FMG Project.

Growing up with border collies and always looking after dogs for friends and family was the starting point of my love for all things dog! This can be with food, praise or their favourite toy depending on the dog. We do need to add corrections when training to help our dogs understand what we are looking for from them. These do NOT have to inflict pain or fear and none of the methods I use will ever hurt or scare a dog! My training methods are about building trust with your dog and strengthening the bond and relationship you have. I use ways which will motivate the dog and have been found to have better long term benefits for both you and him I train my own dogs the same way I will train yours.
