I’m Amy – mummy, wife, founder of Born to Bee Happy and early years expert. Ever since I can remember I’ve been early years mad! Being a teacher I am passionate about education. I just love learning! I truly believe in lifelong learning and I am always looking to develop myself – every day is a learning day. Even as adults I think we have so much to learn, no matter what age. I really enjoy furthering my own knowledge, even when it comes to studying and completing a Masters in Early Years. I also think we have a lot to learn from children, just watching them, learning about the way they develop, and how they play in the present moment is fascinating - I love seeing the theory in action! I’ve been working in education and early years for the last 15 years, teaching all ages from babies to adults in a variety of roles. Working across many sectors, including rail, education, industrial and retail, Twinfix offers a full service from initial enquiry and advice on projects, to design, manufacture and installation. Twinfix pride themselves on product development and introducing new roofing and canopy products to the market. The Multi-Link-Panel NF is a core product. These panels are commonly used to form the glazed roof of canopies, walkways and shelters as well as overhead glazing in roof lights. Consisting of a lightweight and durable powder coated aluminium frame glazed with polycarbonate, this fix-and-link system is incredibly quick to install. The LFI offers a unique education. From primary school on, the pupils are immersed in a multicultural and bilingual environment. Innovative and creative teaching programmes allow the children to be educated in favourable learning conditions. LFI follows the teaching programmes of the French Department for National Education, while taking into account the local environment and the pupils themselves. Mastery of the French language, the teaching language, and its expansion are at the heart of the syllabus. Workshops for small groups in the primary school and junior cycle allow the pupils for whom it is not their mother tongue to make rapid progress. In the same way, the modern languages policy emphasises English, the language of our host country. Every pupil from the youngest up follows an individual progression. In 5e (First Year), the pupils join the Eurocampus, run jointly with our partner St. Kilian’s. French, German, Irish and other pupils take classes together. At the end of 3e (Third Year), the children sit two exams, the French Diplôme National de Brevet (DNB) and the Irish Junior Certificate. In this way LFI as a school develops European citizenship every day and offers its pupils a real road to success. In the classes of senior cycle, the pupils can continue an international programme with the European Section or the International Section (Option Internationale du Baccalauréat, OIB section américaine).

And the student, now working in industry, will complete the circle and have a profound impact on the next generation of students. The Challenge Curriculum cannot keep pace with industry developments. Industry and education lack the processes needed to engage at the individual level we would aspire to. Outreach activities create awareness of STEM careers, but it's not "enough". In order to develop aspirations and accelerate skills, additional levels of engagement are needed. Activities feel as if they happen to students rather than with students and for students. Students are a ‘person'... not just 'stats and numbers'. We believe we are not resonating closely enough with students. It's about more than this year's recruitment or next year's jobs. Its about a long-term, strategic sustainable pipeline of inspired individuals who will inspire the next generation.

Kathy King is a Science and Psychology specialist who has worked with a variety of vulnerable groups including young people with special educational needs, including social, emotional and behavioural problems, and the homeless. She is passionate about showing others the power of being active in nature and using outdoor activities as a tool to improve wellbeing. Her research has proven that participation in a 6-week Forest School programme can increase attendance and reduce exclusion rates from mainstream school. Applying the fundamentals of the holistic Forest School approach in all that she does, Kathy believes this can create positive changes in behaviour. Kathy made a life-changing decision to leave teaching and enrol on an outdoor instructor programme after experiencing high levels of work-related stress and anxiety. The 2-day a week course provided an opportunity to master new skills and focus on what she considered to be most important in life. It was on the water that the idea for the Wild Camp Training Programme was born. This is a project aimed at young women who are currently out of education, employment and/or training (N.E.E.T) and is designed to empower and increase physical and mental health. Since then, the charity has evolved to deliver after school clubs, forest school sessions, holiday clubs, 1-1 outdoor activity sessions and group days out.

I’m the eldest of three girls, and as we were growing up, our mum made wedding dresses, upholstered furniture and created most of our clothes on her sewing machine. So I think it was inevitable that one of us would grow up with a creative streak. I’ve always enjoyed making things, not all of my ventures have been successful, but since moving into our current house and being somewhat uninspired by the range of beige lampshades on offer on the high street, I decided to learn how to make my own. Since that day I’ve become addicted. I feel lucky to have found a way to combine my love of beautiful fabrics with interiors – and spread the lampshade love to homes across Yorkshire and beyond. It’s something I take great pride in. I’m passionate about helping clients find that perfect fabric to match their new scheme and make them something unique – something they couldn’t find on the High Street. I also love teaching people how to make their own, on my lampshade making workshops – the smile as their lampshade starts to take shape is priceless.
