I created Maleficent Things in 2016 out of my love of movies and fondness for fairytales. I began by making a collection of character themed charm bracelets representing princesses, heroines, villains and the misunderstood, from the likes of Cinderella to Hermione, the Evil Queen to Maleficent herself. Since then I have designed hundreds of items inspired by films, fairytales and literature. From quote pendants and pins to pin cushions and watercolour prints, Maleficent Things presents an enchanting collection of original film, fairytale and book inspired jewellery, stationery and gifts. I am delighted to also offer private workshops, jewellery making classes and parties for adults and children. All can be tailored to create the perfect bespoke package, so do get in touch if you would like to discuss ideas. When the pandemic made workshops and parties difficult, I created make-at-home craft kits to help people enjoy creative happy time at home, and so Charming Crafty Things was born. I now have a wide range of kits available here on this website, and you can find a handpicked selection on my Charming Crafty Things Etsy and Small and Beautiful shops too. I studied Art many moons ago and am delighted to once again have the opportunity to paint, design and create, alongside looking after my three delightful boys (superhero powers: sarcasm, hugs and sideblinding) and a huge fluffy dog (superhero power: mood enhancement). I thoroughly enjoy designing my Maleficent Things and creating crafty kits brimming with beautiful materials so that you can make your own lovely things too. Alexandra Fowler is an author and illustrator living in Cornwall, England. Creating books that are beautiful and interesting to both adult and child is key focus in Alexandra’s style. She is also responsible, under the pen name Lilac Rosenwyn, for the Cornish Legends chapter book series which aims to bring the world of Cornish myths and Legends to a new generation. Alexandra has an extensive background in Environmental education and conservation. Whilst working for a countryside project in Kent, Alexandra ran guided walks and children’s activities with a focus on engaging people in nature through art. Upon moving to Cornwall in 2008, Alexandra topped up her studies in Marine Environmental Management and completed a Certificate in Education, enabling her to work for a number of years as a Lecturer in Marine Biology. With the birth of her three children, Alexandra combined her educational and artistic background to create inspiring and informative children’s books for ages 9 and under. Working in traditional mediums of watercolour Alexandra creates visually appealing stories to inspire. She additionally works with other authors to bring their words to life with her illustrations.

TYRO Studios is a studio / retail space based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where we host creative workshops and lifestyle events. It is also home to a curated range of gifts & lifestyle goods. At TYRO Studios we run different workshops and events from floral arranging, to modern calligraphy, water colour painting, macrame & much much more. Our spaces are inclusive and safe for all people. All our workshops are run by incredibly talented and passionate tutors and are perfect for beginners. Our tickets are fully inclusive, you will not need to buy anything from us when you arrive; this includes all your materials and refreshments - all you need to provide is enthusiasm. Our workshops are aimed at adults (18+) as we serve alcohol. Our classes are small (6-10 people) to ensure that everyone gets as much direct assistance from our tutors as possible and run from 1.5 hours to 3 hours maximum (please check your specific workshop for timings) We cannot wait to meet and host you! The Grafton Academy of Fashion Design was founded in 1938 by Pauline Elizabeth Keller Clotworthy. Born in 1912, Pauline was brought up in a large house in Glenageary, with several generations of family around her. Pauline showed a keen interest in sketching and writing and went on to study at Dublin's Metropolitan School of Art (now the National College of Art and Design). It was there that one of Pauline's tutors, artist Seán Keating cautioned her on turning her life drawing into fashion illustrations, this only encouraged Pauline who then went on to study the art of representing fabrics and textures using watercolour in Browns Paris School of Fashion in London. Upon her return to Dublin, Pauline was advised to further educate herself on how to realise her fashion drawings. Pauline returned to London to train at the British institute of Dress Designing. Pauline, understanding that she had benefited from an education that was not available in Ireland, decided she wanted to share the skills she had acquired. Shortly after graduating in 1938, Pauline established the Grafton Academy, Ireland's first design school and within a year it had staged its debut show. Early graduates from the college include Neilli Mulcahy, Ib Jorgensen and Clodagh Phillips, all of whom made a significant contribution in promoting Irish fashion culture, both home and abroad.

I am a Devon based textile artist creating contemporary textile art inspired by the coast and countryside. With no formal training I took up free motion machine embroidery in 2012 and over time I have gravitated towards textile art, developing my own unique style by using organza and net to give a soft watercolour feel to my work. Working loosely from photographs, but often directly from my imagination, each piece of my work evolves as it is created. I prefer not to use a sketchbook, instead allowing my creativity to guide me as each piece develops. Colour and texture are big influences for me and where possible I prefers to source up cycled textiles for their variety and individuality. I love the idea that these materials can be given a new purpose, and can be appreciated in a totally different way for many more years to come. As well as my original artwork my range also includes digital and giclee fine art prints, greeting cards and textile art kits, all of which can be found in my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlisonWhateley?ref=hdr_shop_menu I also welcome commissions of all sizes, and will work with you to get the result you are looking for. I get great pleasure from passing on my knowledge and skills to others, and run regular workshops close to my home, as well as providing talks and day workshops to groups such as the WI and embroiderers Guild.

My career as an artist started in 1996 when I was asked to illustrate articles from a national religious magazine in Italy. Through the years I developed skills in both digital illustration and hand paint with watercolour and acrylic. In 2002 I decided to take it further and attend a school of art and, in 2005, I graduated as a Comics illustrator and special effects artist. Since I was always attracted by the movie world, I decided to use my new certificate to approach this fantastic world. I worked few years for a production company which took me away from my Country of origin and gave me the opportunity to develop my skills as an artist and writer. I wrote several screenplays for the big screen and illustrated storyboards on a daily basis and here is when I started thinking about writing and illustrating stories for children. “The first tale of Sarah” in fact was born as an idea for a children’s movie but not developed more than a script. In 2015 I moved in the UK and I started working on my first personal project “The Tale of Sarah”, a three books series which I’m writing and illustrating. The first one was published in 2017 and I’m currently working on the second volume. My goal in sharing these stories is to share a message of hope with readers of all ages. As an artist I keep on developing my skills every day and trying new ways and techniques to improve my illustrations. In 2018, I enrolled BA in Illustration at the Open College of the Arts.

I studied Art & Design at Stourbridge Art College in the West Midlands for three years, before moving to West Sussex to gain an Art with Related Arts degree at Chichester University. My sculpture work featured nationally on ITV’s morning programme. Exhibitions of my work include West Dean College and Worthing Museum and Art Gallery, West Sussex. I have also had the privilege of exhibiting my work in the Awagami International Miniature Print Exhibition, Tokushima, Japan. Along with exhibitions at; Banks Mill Studios Derby, The Art House Wakefield, neo: Gallery Bolton, Gallery@OXO Oxo Tower Wharf South Bank London, Greenpea press Huntville Alabama, Hong Kong Baptist University Hong Kong and Cube gallery Moscow. After a period focusing on other art disciplines, I returned to printmaking and the joy of the process is what pushes my work forward creatively. Learning different printing methods has helped me to begin experimenting with distinctive approaches to my prints and printing style. I continue to enjoy drawing and working painterly with a variety of mixed media, developing my own instinctive style over many other art disciplines. After gaining my degree I went on to achieve my teaching qualifications, to teach 16+ students. I then gained my Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS) professional status, which enables me to teach through all age groups (pre and post 16). I have been teaching Art classes in the West Sussex area for 20 years, both for local Adult Education and Chichester College, along with my own private workshops. I enjoy, and have taught, a wide variety of Arts & Crafts subjects and have an extensive & practical knowledge of many areas of the arts. Currently, I teach subjects as varied as Life Drawing, Watercolour, iPad Painting, Acrylics, Pastels and Chinese Brush Painting. I have also taught Pottery, Weaving, Face Painting and numerous craft classes. I am always striving to learn and pass on new techniques and ideas to my students. I hold a Level 3 NVQ in British Sign Language and am currently studying for my Level 6 NVQ. I also teach in this subject.
