Our Mission To enable a digital economy supported by a more reliable, efficient, and environmentally sustainable digital infrastructure. Our Story In 2003, as applications started increasing in complexity and size, the team initially addressed challenges in Software Architecture reliability and efficiency, setting some of the earlier groundwork around Architecture design languages and software product lines. The focus then quickly shifted to a more holistic approach from the ground up addressing the reliability, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of digital services, from data centres to IT Operations and application design. This led to the establishment of the London Technology Academy (LTA) in 2013. The team laid out some key scientific work around cost-effective deployments in the Cloud and environmental sustainability challenges in software and physical infrastructure. Today, LTA is home to some of the key international authorities in digital infrastructure. The LTA team supported the creation of some of the best practices and global standards and policies on digital infrastructure (e.g EN50600, EU Code of Conduct, EMAS, EcoDesign and EU Green Public Procurement to name a few). The team supports governments and corporates globally to transform their digital footprint to a more reliable, efficient and environmentally sustainable state. The LTA team led European initiatives like EURECA and PEDCA that saw broad transformation and consolidation of government infrastructure and the training of well over a thousand ICT professionals.

The club has had a long and rich history. Consistently teaching to a high standard, many students have attained the rank of black belt, and gone on to teach Aikido themselves. Sensei Matt Tennant has studied aikido for over 50 years and continues to develop his art and his students. His aikido journey started in 1958 when aikido was still relatively new to the UK and he was one of the early students in Scotland, initially studying under Tom Weir. His main teacher for many years was Ken Williams during his years with the Aikikai and later with the Ki Federation. Sensei Tennant started the East Kilbride Aikido Club in 1967. In addition to training under Sensei Ken Williams, he attended regular courses from Sensei Noro and Sensei Chiba. When the Ki No Kenyukai was formed by Sensei Koichi Tohei, the club joined through the Ki Federation of Great Britain led by Sensei Ken Williams. Originally organised in 1967 as extra training time for the Hamilton Hill Aikido Club, the first Aikido dojo in Scotland, the East Kilbride club quickly grew in numbers and established an identity of its own. The club has had a number of influences throughout it’s development. Having been affiliated with the Aikikai of Great Britain, under Sensei Kazuo Chiba, and Ki No Kenyukai, under Koichi Tohei Sensei (through the Ki Federation of Great Britain), the instruction at the club represents a deep and wide understanding of the principles of Aikido and mind/body unification. In 1984 the club left the Ki Federation and therefore the Ki No Kenyukai. Since that time the club has remained unaffiliated with any governing Aikido organisation and continues to teach to a high standard the principles of SHIN SHIN TOITSU DO(unification of mind and body) and SHIN SHIN TOITSU AIKIDO (Aikido with mind and body unified) as taught by Sensei Koichi Tohei.

Welcome to Happy Voices! Throughout my industry experience, I started to notice when new students contacted me, there was a common theme to what they wanted to do with their voice: they all wanted control, vocal colour and, always, confidence. I started to get emails from people all the time asking for top tips and exercises on how to achieve these aims. These were people intimated by what they saw on talent shows on television, and yet they were intrigued by it at the same time; those who had never been apart of the school choir, or were being spoken over in meetings at work; who doubted their ability to sing, to karaoke or to speak, or whose voice cracked the moment they needed it to be strong. This led me to the dawning realization that: People all over the world use their voices every day, and yet, most of them don’t know how How do you use your voice in a happy and healthy way? How can you use it to get what you want? How do you control your voice? And importantly, how on earth do I reach out to all these people and help them to answer that question? I wanted to reach these people, ‘musical’ or ‘non-musical’, ‘beginner’ or ‘novice’, school choir or no school choir, and share knowledge with them, helping them gain control, colour and confidence in the everyday voice, singing or spoken. This is my aim! To help beginners gain control of their voices, without the need for a ‘musical background’. So, if you would like to learn more about your voice: Read through this website! If you have access to woodlands and permission to use it then I can offer a more traditional Forest School experience. This will usually be blocks of 5 or 6 sessions for up to 10 children at a time. Each session will last 2 hours and include a drink and snack. Alternative Forest School / PPA Cover This version of Forest School is more structured to allow a whole class to take part. This can be part of your PPA time planning as I only need one LSA for a class of 30 children. Each session lasts for 2 hours and includes a drink and snack. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a large woods – it works on playing fields next to shrubby areas with a few trees and hedges. Pricing I charge £125 per 2-hour session. This includes VAT and all materials and resources used. There may be additional costs for transport if you are not local. Why Me? I am DBS checked, Outdoor First Aid trained and a Qualified Teacher. The Learning Ranger is fully insured, including Public Liability, and activities are Risk Assessed. I will bring everything that’s needed for the activities, apart from any additional adults that are required. Session times and activities are fully flexible and I am always happy to tailor them to your needs. What is Forest School? Forest School is an inspirational process that has been developing in Scandinavian countries since the 1950’s but only made its way over to Britain in the mid 1990’s. Its basic aim is to connect children and adults with nature whilst supporting their social, emotional and physical development. Forest School sessions provide children and adults the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning and play. Activities during Forest School sessions may include shelter building, fire lighting, using tools, outdoor cooking, games and self-led discovery.
