Newtonmore

The Clan Macpherson Museum first opened its doors in 1952 to house treasures already in the hands of individuals. Over the years it has grown considerably in both size and stature and now boasts a large collection of artefacts and other objects of historical importance. The collections are significant to the Highlands of Scotland and to members of the Macpherson Clan in particular. To the Museum's acclaim it has achieved accreditation with the Museum Galleries Scotland and the Arts Council England. It has also been awarded 4-Star Museum status with Visit Scotland (Scottish Tourist Board). The layout of items in the Museum is organised in chronological order enabling a story to be told through objects, documents and text as you make your way round. There is an audio-visual presentation provided at the start of the Museum's circuit and this gives visitors insight into the clan system and the Macpherson Clan. You can take a video tour of the Museum as it was revised in 2020 by going here. The Chief of the Clan Macpherson is James B Macpherson of Cluny, the Clan's 28th Chief. Members of the clan are fortunate to have their Chief living in Scotland; Cluny, as he is referred to, takes an active part in Clan activities and he has a strong presence in the Museum itself. The Clan Macpherson Museum Trust, which is a charitable trust, runs the Museum, and the Museum Advisory Committee manages it. Neither trustees nor managers receive remuneration for their work; they are all volunteers. There is no Government or Local Authority funding available to the Clan Macpherson Museum; it relies totally on donations from visitors and members of the Clan Macpherson Association for its existence and continual growth. Entry to the Clan Macpherson Museum is free, however, it costs about £3 per person to keep the Museum open, so a donation "in the box" would be appreciated for those who wish to make a contribution. All donations are much appreciated and go towards the upkeep of the Museum and of its unique collections. We are proud to be a Scottish Tourist Board Four Star Museum, have a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, be Assisted Wheelchair Access Registered and an Accredited Museum. We have been given the 'Good To Go, Scotland' award in recognition that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.

Southampton

Southampton Coalporters A.R.C. was founded in 1875 and as such is the oldest and most established rowing club within the city of Southampton. The club has been successfully competing every year since its foundation. Coalporters itself takes its name from the rowers who transported coal to visiting ships on the River Itchen. These workers formed the club in which they could participate using their skills in competition against anyone else who would race against them. In 1884 the club scratched together a crew of 18 to race and beat a previously undefeated racing crew of 14 from the visiting American Navy. The race was set over a five mile course for stakes of sixty dollars . The crew imbalance was more than compensated for by the fact that the Americans could race their own specially designed racing boat, whilst Coalporters had to race in a disused service cutter from the condemned stores in Portsmouth Dockyard. The Americans asked for a rematch for higher stakes for which Coalporters took up the challenge and again went on to win. Soon after Coalporters were challenged by the "Portsmouth Shovelers" which laid the foundations for the more conventional river and coastal rowing competitions of today. The club has progressively grown in stature over the years to become a well renowned and respected club throughout the rowing circuit both locally and nationally. We have been on our present site beside Northam Bridge for over 40 years. The latest addition to the club was completed in 2005, extending the building further towards the water to increase the size of the training / gym area and also extending the back of the club to incorporate a club / committee room. The refurbishment also included the rebuilding of the changing rooms and the installation of new racking in the boat house. In 2019 Coalporters embarked on a new era to develop the club for the future. New storage and club refurbishment is now being planned, the first phase starts with conversion of the Northam Arch project. This will provide more boat storage space for members and our rowing crews.

Hawkhurst

First of all, let’s clear up the name thing. My parents weren’t so cruel as to name me Kitty Kittley… I just happened to be called Kitty and fell in love with a man called Mr Kittley! I grew up on the Kent/Sussex border and went to school in Cranbrook, but after spending 20 years living and working in London, my husband Chris and I took the plunge and moved to Hawkhurst in Kent, where we now live with our two young children. In my 20s I worked as a scuba-diving instructor and then opened my own dive school and shop in London, taking people diving around the UK and abroad. Sadly, when the recession hit in 2009, I was forced to close the business. I went on to work as a court transcriber from home, which I still do on a part-time basis. However, my passion is movement, exercise and the outdoors, so I decided to retrain as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. I’ve been a keen exerciser since my mid-20s but in 2008 I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, which ultimately led to me having three vertebrae fused in my lower back shortly after my son Billy was born in 2014. At the time of diagnosis, my consultant said to me, “You will be pain free if you get strong and fit.” This gave me the nudge I needed to get serious about my health and to really start taking care of my body. I am a firm believer that something good comes out of everything. Without exercise I am not quite sure where I would be. It has helped me physically and mentally a great deal and I believe that movement is one of the key elements to a happy and healthy body and that our sedentary lifestyles are to blame for many ailments. Through exercise and movement I believe that you can be stronger, healthier, banish aches and pains and be happier in yourself. I am a level 3 personal trainer and level 2 British Weight Lifting instructor based in Hawkhurst, Kent and I am qualified to work with post-natal and pregnant clients. I am also a MovNat Level 1 certified trainer. MovNat is entirely based on the practice of Natural Movement skills, i.e. movements that the human body was designed to perform. I aim to incorporate functional and natural movement into my sessions, which in turn helps with everyday life and creating a leaner, stronger and more supple body. I am also a certified Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach and can offer nutritional advice and plans. Qualifications: Level 2 Fitness Instructor Level 3 Personal Trainer Movnat Level 1 Certified Trainer Jenny Burrell Modern Post Natal Assessment and Exercise Prescription Jenny Burrell Modern Pregnancy Exercise Level 2 Award in Circuit Instruction Level 2 Award in Indoor Cycling Level 3 Award in Instructing Outdoor Fitness Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral Level 3 Award in Sports Conditioning Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach Level 2 British Weight Lifting Instructor

The Premspec Group

Cardiff

The PGL group (originally PremSpec electrical products limited) was founded in 2012 in Cardiff, Wales. The company was created to provide the electrical industry with products of the highest certified quality through carefully selected stockist partners across the United Kingdom, Europe, and the Middle East. As an independently run company with family values, we ensure that we remain flexible to our stockist's and contractors' needs. The Premspec Group has seen tremendous growth in the industry since its inception in 2012. Our factory has established itself as a leading manufacturer of British wiring accessories. Outstanding quality, value, and reliability are just some of the qualities our products have been associated with since being introduced to the market. We give each item within the Premspec group product divisions a duty of care and a level of detail that the industry deserves. This ensures that our incredibly high standards in quality are sustained throughout the entire range. A testimony to this is the Intertek certification that is held by every item that we manufacture here at the Premspec group. This means that our products have met the criteria of the highest and most respected testing organisation available. At PGL we have a multitude of brands that are all run independently with their own dedicated staff and focus. Two of whom are considered among the market's best available products. Ascot Heating, a now well-established brand within the renewable heating market, has seen awards and accreditations in the last few years that its competitors do not. Whilst Verso has gone to new heights thanks to its incredible forward-thinking approach to the traditional domestic electrical market. Focusing on installation features and safety, placed a range of circuit protection and wiring accessories within the market that had previously been subject to cheap and under-engineered alternatives.

Cornwall

Was born in Africa and lived in Lagos until her 9th birthday when her family moved back to the UK and more specifically Cornwall. Moving to Cornwall at such a key age shaped her passions and future in so many ways. Having always been in swimming pools and the sea in Africa the love of water intensified on the beautiful beaches and in the crashing Atlantic surf of the Cornish Coastline. The sea and its different moods have always been in her life. Being a keen surfer in her teens her love of playing in and with the elements became all encompassing when she discovered the thrill of kitesurfing. A pioneer in the early days of the sport she set up one of the first schools in the UK, and competed on the world circuit with her highest ranking being 3rd in the world. She also enjoyed other kiting challenges and set a world record by kitesurfing from Cornwall to Ireland ( under her maiden name Wharry), She discovered Glass by accident, through her landlady whilst studying at Falmouth art college, falling instantly in love with the look and the process of working with glass she decided to specialise in Architectural Stained Glass at Swansea. Though not actively working with glass during her sporting career, the fascination never left. Now retired from competition, glass is back as the focus of her passion. “Its colour, its reflections and translucent quality instantly captured my heart. To me it has a similar quality to water. It is enigmatic you can look at it, or through it. It is there and not there and can create a potent visual effect, either opulent or subtle. I love the challenge of designing for different buildings, interiors and people, whether a large architectural piece or an intensely personal small piece. “ Dreya
